In 2024, the average Days On Market (DOM) for top-tier sales hovered at 339 days, rising to 545 days for listings that lingered past 180 days.
In May, in cooperation with Matt Beall and Josh Jerman of Hawaii Life, ‘Casa En Maui’ set a new benchmark with the highest sale price to date in Maui in just 69 days.
The property drew qualified global interest and proved the demand for the world’s finest properties in extraordinary locations.
This architectural masterpiece by Ricardo Legorreta was never publicly offered, until gavel. The sellers went straight to auction when they listed the home, prioritizing the certainty and speed, achievable through auction format.
The sellers were Adam Weiss, a retired hedge fund manager and co-founder of Scout Capital Management, and his wife, Barret Swatek, known for her roles in Yellowstone, Awkward, and American Housewife.
“The auction process was efficient and expeditious, giving us a guaranteed outcome in 60 days which was important to our family as we move on to our next chapter,” said Weiss. “We’re excited for what’s next for us, and for the new owners who are sure to create a happy home in this special place of peace and natural beauty.”
That momentum wasn’t lost on the brokerage community either.

WHY SELL AT AUCTION?
The world’s finest art, classic cars, yachts, and antiques are sold at auction—so, too, is luxury real estate. Timing is everything and luxury real estate can move slowly. According to our Luxury Homes Index, homes that take over 180 days to sell close at an average of 19% less than their listing price. Our auction model accelerates the process, with global exposure, competitive bidding, and a 60-day start-to-finish timeline. We are an added tool rather than an alternative to selling traditionally, and in all instances, we partner with a listing broker on each sale.
WHY DO I NEED A LISTING AGENT?
We are an auction house and not a brokerage firm. On average, a third of our buyer demand is generated by the local market. Managing local listings requires agents who can operate in specific areas. Over two decades, we have found that local buyers prefer to work directly with the listing agent or a local brokerage community. Having an agent, therefore, increases the chance of successful sale. Buyers appreciate the ability to speak with a local agent to get a professional opinion on the property.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
We bring you the market and the competition drives the price. Prior to the auction opening, we promote your property both globally and locally for three weeks with world-class sales, digital, and public relations campaigns. The auction will open for two weeks once a Market Reserve has been set. The sale of your home will be followed by an as-is, contingency-free closing, typically within 1–4 weeks after the auction closes.

WHAT IS THE BIDDING PROCESS LIKE?
Our auctions are fast, fair, and fully transparent. You’ll see all terms up-front and compete only with pre-qualified buyers online, over the phone, or in person at a live sale. It’s the easiest way to name your price on a world-class property. You are empowered to submit a starting bid, and in doing so, unlock up to a 50% rebate on the Buyer’s Premium if you are the winning bidder.
DO I HAVE TO INCLUDE A BID AMOUNT WHEN I REGISTER?
It is not required to submit a bid amount when you register; however, if you are interested in taking advantage of our Starting Bid Incentive to receive a rebate on the Buyer’s Premium, you must submit a Starting Bid prior 5pm, local property time, the day prior to bidding opening. Our platform combines security, speed, and transparency, giving buyers a more streamlined way to compete for the world’s finest properties.
ARE THESE PROPERTIES DISTRESSED?
Not at all. We sell unique properties for clients across a variety of circumstances. The one thing they all have in common is that they chose the auction process after careful consideration and with an eye toward unlocking market value. We only accept the finest properties on our platform and decline 95% of the applications. We have the most extensive database of high-end real estate buyers in the world.

WHAT DOES OUR TEAM HANDLE FOR YOU?
Your auction team will arrange showings, manage leads, network with brokers and potential buyers, and work throughout your property’s exposure period to engage the market. We will screen for suitable buyers and reach out to potential bidder segments from our database around the world. Each buyer is assigned a Bidder Representative, and buyers agents are looped into communications to stay informed every step of the way.
