Nigeria Super Eagles New Players

Nigeria has a long history of participating in the Premier League. The Super Eagles' involvement in the most watched league, from Efan Ekoku to the most recent addition, Joe Aribo, has been one of the key reasons Nigerians anticipate the resumption of hostilities every August/September.

The Super Eagles had eight players in the Premier League the previous season, but with Watford relegating three Nigerians and the impending departure of Leicester City's Ademola Lookman, the current Super Eagles new players are six, reconciled with the arrivals of Taiwo Awoniyi and Joe Aribo from Union Berlin and Rangers.

Joe Aribo (Southampton)

Despite the fact that Southampton lost, Aribo made his debut with a spectacular goal, sliding through a sea of legs to produce what can only be compared to a trademark Maradona or Messi shot. The midfielder joined from UEFA Europa League finalists Rangers and is expected to make his debut against Tottenham Hotspur.

Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forest)

Awoniyi joins Nottingham Forest after a successful season with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. He is currently one of the Super Eagles' new players. Awoniyi will be expected to justify the club record fee of £17.5 million. Nottingham Forest begin their Premier League campaign against Newcastle United.

Alex Iwobi (Everton)

Iwobi helped Everton avoid relegation last season and has emerged as a key figure in Frank Lampard's plans for 2022/23. He is one of the super eagles new players Iwobi's two goals relieved some of the pressure on the Toffees' management. They begin their season against Chelsea, whom they overcame 10 previous season while fighting relegation.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City)

Despite his inability to replicate his form from the 2020/21 season, in which he scored 12 goals, Iheanacho remains an essential member of Brendan Rodgers' squad. Iheanacho will have an easier time obtaining playing time at Leicester City because the club has been quiet in the transfer market. Patson Daka, Ayoze Perez, and Jamie Vardy are his main rivals for a starting spot.

Frank Onyeka (Brentford)

Due to a long-term knee injury that kept him out of Leicester City's season finale as well as Nigeria's World Cup play-off against Ghana, the midfield enforcer endured a dismal 2021/22 season. Ndidi is expected to return to training after showing signs of recovery. Leicester City's Premier League campaign will begin against Brentford.
