GETTING TO THE FINISH LINE

The finish line is located less than 2 miles from the start line. Take a scenic stroll along Las Vegas Boulevard toward the finish line, or take the convenient Monorail from the station located at MGM Grand and

exit at the Harrah’s/Imperial Palace Station.

Be sure to discuss a postrace reunion plan with your runner before the race to avoid any confusion following the race. The finish line will be extremely crowded with participants, so we recommend to meet your runner at the Bellagio Fountain area across from the Gear Check truck of their last name.

Start Line: Las Vegas Blvd. & Dewey Ave. (0.4 miles south of Start Line Festival) 4:30 p.m.: Race starts (Corral 1) Tip: The wave plan will take approximately 90 minutes.

Corrals will be released every 1-2 minutes. Hang out in the festival, rest your legs, and depart for your corral 30 minutes prior to your estimated start time.

LAS VEGAS MONORAIL

The Las Vegas Monorail is offering marathon participants and spectators exclusive fare discounts! When Las Vegas Blvd. closes to traffic on race day, use the Monorail to travel around the Strip and to the start line for the race. Trains arrive at each of the seven stations every 5-10 minutes.

The 2015 Brooks Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K presented by SLS Las Vegas 3.1 mile loop course starts and finishes at the all new Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

There will be a course time limit of 50 minutes. Participants who complete the 5K on Saturday and a race on Sunday (Marathon, 1/2 Marathon or 10k) will earn the Remix Challenge Las Vegas medal in addition to their Saturday and Sunday finisher medals.

RACE DAY CHECKLIST 6 DAYS BEFORE | EASE UP ON RUNNING Cram sessions will only tire your legs out at this point. Dial back your miles and intensity to ensure you’ll be fresh for the big day.

3 DAYS BEFORE | CONCENTRATE ON THE Z’S It can be tough to get solid sleep the night before. (Thanks, pre-race jitters!)

So front-load on your snooze sessions.

2 DAYS BEFORE | START CARBOLOADING Fill up your tank by making sure you have high-carb foods throughout the day. This is the fun part.

MORNING BEFORE | SHAKE IT OUT Do a light, easy run (3 miles tops to get the blood flowing. Extra credit: Warm up your legs in the 5K to earn a Remix Challenge medal!

EVENING BEFORE | LAY OUT YOUR GEAR You don’t want to discover you left your socks at home an hour before the race! RACE AFTERNOON | EAT BREAKFEST FOR LUNCH Nighttime races can be tricky from a fueling perspective. Eat a meal for lunch that has been successful for you in training. If that’s breakfast, go for that, but amp up the serving size just slightly.

2.5 HOURS BEFORE | HEAD OVER TO THE START You don’t want to miss the pre-race concert. (Trust us.) Plus, this will give you plenty of time to go back and grab your bib if you forget it the first time. :30 MIN BEFORE | FIND YOUR CORRAL Take a water bottle and cover-up with you to keep you hydrated and warm (as the temp drops after sunset, you may just end up running with that extra layer). In less than an hour, you’re going to be running through Vegas—and killing your race!

RUNNING AT NIGHT Racing at night presents some interesting challenges for the athlete. You are no longer “In Sync” with your daily biorhythms, and the timing affects sleep, diet, and equipment selection. The best advice is to try and simulate race conditions, 2-3 days prior to the event. Sleep-in a little, and stay up later, to adjust your ‘internal clock’.

Acclimatize to race time by staying up later, and sleeping-in Go for a 2-3 mile run at race time, for a day or two before the event Biggest meal pre-race should be breakfast, then a light lunch [pasta, rice, waffle] Start with a light sweater tied around the waist and
