Hi there,
This guide will help you to complete your Sterling/ Yoti checks. Plus, all the documents you will need to complete the Pre-Employment Checks.
Please note
- You will need a stable internet/WiFi connection
- If you do not have the documents to hand, please DO NOT attempt to complete the checks

02 Your Right to Work Documents

British or Irish Passport: Current or Expired
(Please note Sterling/Yoti will only except current passports)

Passport or National ID card showing the holder is an Irish citizen
Birth or Adoption Certificate issued in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Ireland with an official document showing the person’s National Insurance number and name (e.g. P60, payslip)
Certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British citizen (With proof of National Insurance number)
Immigration status shared via a Home Office online check (For example, people with settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme)
Current biometric residence permit (BRP) (Showing permission to work)
Current biometric residence card (for non-EEA family members of EEA nationals) – no longer issued but still valid if held


Online immigration status (digital evidence): Use a share code and employer checks via GOV.UK.








03 DBS Guidance
To complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check in the UK, you must provide a combination of documents to prove your identity, address, and right to work.
General Rules
You must provide:



One document from Group 1
Two further documents from Group 1, 2a, or 2b
At least one document must show your current address
Additional for Non-UK Nationals
If you’re a non-UK national working in a regulated activity, you must show:
1. One document confirming your right to work in the UK (e.g. BRP, share code)
2. Valid passport or national identity card

• Current photocard driving licence (UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, or EEA)
• Original UK birth certificate (issued within 12 months of birth)

• Adoption certificate (UK only)

• Current photocard driving licence (non-EEA)
• Current UK driving licence (paper version – pre-1998)
• UK birth certificate (issued within 12 months of birth)
• Marriage or civil partnership certificate (UK)

Must be less than 3 months old (unless stated otherwise):
• Bank or building society statement (UK)
• Credit card statement (UK)
• Utility bill (not mobile) – gas, water, electric
• Council tax statement (UK –within last 12 months)
• Mortgage statement (UK –within last 12 months)
• P45/P60 (UK –issued in last 12 months)
• Benefit statement (e.g. Universal Credit, Child Benefit)

04 Step-by-Step Guidance

Once you have been offered a role you will receive emails to log in to your Compass Careers Dashboard

You will need to click on the “Further Action Required” button, this will bring you to the Onboarding Forms

Complete all the required sections, once this is done it will say All Sections Completed. Then click on ‘Go to Dashboard’

Once you are at your Dashboard please click on ‘Digital PreEmployment Checks’, this is where you will need your Right to Work Documents. If you do not have the required documents DO NOT complete this section until you them to hand

Once you have clicked on the Digital PreEmployment Check, the image on the right will appear, please choose how you will confirm your Identity

06 You will need to confirm your email address; a code will be sent to the email address you provided when registering your Compass Careers account

Once you have confirmed your email, you will see the below images appear

It shows you how to Confirm your Identity. Once you click on continue it will ask permission to to use Biometrics, you will need to agree to this. If you reject the Biometrics the link will no longer work.

It will ask you how you want to continue with your Identity Check

It will ask you to provide a Passport, it you don’t have one please select one of the other options listed on the image to the right

Once you have uploaded your Right to Work Documents it will ask you permission to Access your Camera, please select Allow

Once documents are uploaded the below three images will appear.
Once you press ‘Continue’ and reach the third image, your Right to Work Checks will have been submitted










This message will appear once the Right to Works have been submitted, this is now the DBS portion of the Digital PreEmployment Checks
14 It will ask you to verify yourself and will show you 3 options, please choose one

Once you have verified yourself it will ask you to provide an Electronic Signature, please type your name at the bottom of this page (it will provide a space for you to do this)

Once you have provided your Electronic Signature, the image on the right will appear (some of your details will be prepopulated). Please ensure you check the phone number is set to the UK

Once you have completed the DBS form it will ask you to upload you Right to Work Documents and your Proof of Residency Document. The list of documents can be found at the beginning of this document under DBS Guide

Once documents have been uploaded, it will ask you to review them. If you are happy with the information provide, you may submit

Once submitted you will see the image on the right
