About Pathways from Poverty Pathways from Poverty is about us being a church in and for a broken world. Helping local churches to empower people in both their local communities and in communities across the nations to walk free from poverty. There are millions of people all over the world who have been dis-empowered to the extent that they do not have choices. This can come in many forms including social, economic or physical. Pathways from Poverty is not about giving out short term financial aid; it’s about helping the Relational Mission family of churches, and others we have relationships with, to demonstrate God’s heart for the poor, by creating sustainable pathways out of poverty that bring dignity and empowerment. We are working to see the poor empowered, poverty alleviated and communities re-built at home and across the nations. This directory has been created to help churches – primarily within the Relational Mission family of churches, to find out who is doing what and where, so that together we can inspire and encourage each other to step out into new areas of service and be a blessing in our community. Key Social Action Review Questions 1. Looking at your church from the viewpoint of a non-church attender: a) What do you do that might be of interest or of relevance to them? b) How easy is it for people to find out information about what you do? c) Is your web site up to date? d) How accessible do you appear? 2. Consider what you church looks like to other Voluntary and Community Sector organisations: a) Do you have good links with others who might refer people to you – eg CAB / statutory service / other churches? b) Do you sit on any local neighbourhood / voluntary sector groups? 3. Once engaged in an activity with you, how do people find out about what goes on in church and have the opportunity to meet with God? 4. In your community engagement activities, do you need to go deeper with the people you already connect with or go wider to get to know more people in your community? 5. How easy is it for people in church to find out what goes on in your community engagement activities? 6. How easy is it for people to start new community impacting activities? 7. Do you have good governance and effective policies in place to deliver services with excellence following best practice?
