Local Business Group Organizes Fundraiser for St. James Elementary School in Red Bank

A TASTE OF BROADWAY, presented by the Navesink Business Group, took place at the Two River Theater on May 21, 2016. The evening was a great success; bringing the Broadway Lights to Red Bank where over 230 people enjoyed fine wine and food tastings from Red Bank’s premier restaurants, a generous silent auction and the most outstanding performance by The Broadway Dolls, which is a “Best of Manhattan” award-winning concert experience featuring a roster of the most dynamic and beautiful women of the Broadway stage. As seen on Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight, this Broadway revue with a sexy rock n’ roll twist is a theatrical celebration of Broadway music, rock n’ roll, 60’s girl groups and dance. The show featured music from some of Broadway’s greatest shows including: “Mary Poppins,” “Wicked,” “Mamma Mia”, ”Jersey Boys”, “Hairspray” and more. More than $13,000 in proceeds directly benefited St. James Elementary School for Capital Improvements. Established in 2006, Navesink Business group is a network of professionals and business owners based in Red Bank. Its business consortium shares ideas and platforms to promote new business opportunities among group members and the greater community of Red Bank. It also believes in giving back to the community, and a large aspect of its efforts is directed towards local community assistance. Annually, the group selects a local cause either in the business community or in the not-for-profit area, where it believes it can have a meaningful and direct impact. Red Bank Catholic Celebrates Inaugural Class to Hall of Fame ON JUNE 18, 2016, a group of 250 RBC alumni, friends and families filled the RBC Vincent J. Eck Student Center to celebrate the Induction of the Red Bank Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame Inaugural Class. The Athletic Hall of Fame was instituted The 1959-60 Football Teams receiving to celebrate those who their award. have distinguished and brought honor to Red Bank Catholic through their athletic accomplishments. The evening began with Mass in St. James Church celebrated by Pastor Monsignor Phillip Lowery. Generations of Caseys then enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, teammates, coaches and teachers, most of whom were seeing the Eck Center and Tradition Hall for the first time since it was built in 2010 on the site of the former RBC Stirnweiss Athletic building.

Among the special guests that evening were two former RBC Principals, Sister Percy Lee Hart, currently the Principal of Union Catholic High School, and Sister Mary McAuley, along with 1977 graduate, Sister Lisa Gambacorto, who is the Principal of Mount St. Mary Academy in Watchung. Following the cocktail reception was the Induction Ceremony where each member of the Inaugural Class was recognized. Members of the 2016 Inaugural Class are: Monsignor Joseph T. Casey, Harry Flaherty (’80), Pat Kennedy (’70), Tom Lalli (’63), Coach Jack Rafter, Ann Woods Smith (’78), the 1954 Football Team, the 1976 Girls Track Team, David Bauer (’74), Coach Joe Bolger, Lonnie Burgess (’77), Bob Byron (’66), Peggy Egan Fallon (’79), Tom Farrell (’53), Amy Krilla Overcash (’01), Dennis Lynch (’59), George Saxemeyer (’54), Tom Seaman (’77), Tom Seitz (’74), the 1959-60 Football Teams, the 1974-77 Gymnastics Teams, the 1984-87 Girls Tennis Teams and Richard “Bucky” Moran (’55) who received the Msgr. Casey Award of Honor. RBC Athletic Director Joe Montano said, “It was great to welcome everyone back to campus and to honor such wonderful accomplishments. It was an evening of great spirit, energy and enthusiasm which has now begun a new Casey tradition.”
