Summer is here. Our pools are open! We had record attendance at the Beach Club pool on Memorial Day. Check the website and calendar for announcements of upcoming events.
The Board meeting was called to order at 12:30 PM. All Board members were present. Also attending were our Executive Director, Executive Administrator, Director of Compliance, Financial Manager, Lifestyle Director, Maintenance Supervisor, L & G Director, Communications Director, Senior VP of Grand Manors Operations, and Vice President of Onsite Management for Grand Manors and the Association’s Attorney. Four homeowners attended to observe the meeting, two in person and two via Zoom. We welcome our new team members, L & G Director, Mathew Roebuck; our new Communications Director, Scott Finley; and our newly assigned Vice President of Onsite Management for Grand Manors, Jodie Walker.
Approved the April 27, 2023 BOD meeting minutes. We also approved the March 30, 2023 Organizational Meeting minutes.
We reviewed and approved with minor changes the Association Common Properties Signage Policy, Email Registration Policy, Social Media Channels Guideline, and the Social Media Interaction Policy.
We reviewed and approved revisions to the Communications Committee Guidelines and the Editorial Guidelines. We also continued to review the proposed Club Formation Guidelines and suggested additional changes. This continues to be a work in progress.
Our Executive Administrator reviewed progress on our new ACTIVENet system. New ID cards issuance began in May and is underway now and will continue through the end of the year. Your old ID will still work through this year. These new ID cards will allow for credit card usage when needed and
quicker check in for events and entrance to the pools.
We adopted a Best Practices in Project Management Process that must be used for all projects that are $100,000 or more and may be used for other projects. We reviewed our current banking relationships in light of the recent bank failures. No changes were made.
Our Financial Manager reviewed the following April Financial Reports: Balance Sheet, Operating Revenue and Expense Statement, Restricted and Non Restricted Investment Schedule, Summary of Accounts Receivable, Bad Debt Expense Reserve, and Investment Performance Report.
We reviewed the April water consumption report and closed another phase of replacing sprinkler heads with pressure regulated heads. We also approved a project to repair a leaking pond in Wellington Point.
We reviewed and approved a project for a potential Beach Club renovation to provide us with a summary of what is needed and a plan to proceed. Our beach club pool is 35 years old and is leaking and will require replacement in the foreseeable future, so we are undertaking this project to determine options available to us.
We reviewed and approved the Foreclosure Report. We also accepted the Variance Report, Payment Plan Status Report, Collections Committee Waiver Report, Violations Report, Lease Registration Report, Appeals Committee Report, Variance Report, and Project Reports.
Our Attorney updated us on the status of current legal issues.
The meeting adjourned at 5:20 PM.

Our ACTIVENet rollout continues, with more and more Stonebridge Ranch residents coming by to get their new ID cards.
If you’re not familiar, ACTIVENet, a leading provider of software technology and marketing solutions, has been chosen by the Amenities Committee and approved by the Board of Directors to provide an upgraded experience for homeowners enjoying SRCA amenities and social events.
ACTIVENet is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and is used by government associations, parks and recreation departments, sports facilities, universities, YMCAs, and other large HOAs.
For Stonebridge Ranch residents, ACTIVENet offers a new facilities, activities, and membership management system aimed to provide homeowners with an expedited way to check in at the pools, view online calendar, reserve and pay for Community Room and Beach Club pavilion rentals, and register for activities.
Upon full implementation, the new online registration system streamlines administrative duties within the
Association and gives homeowners the ability to view up-to-date information. That, in turn, makes the sign-up process for Stonebridge Ranch events and reserving select amenities simple, fast, and convenient.
We previously reported that this year’s guest cards will be issued through ACTIVENet as a digital card. Due to the unforeseen issues that prevented SRCA from fully implementing ACTIVENet at the start of our pool season, we will go back to issuing complimentary guest cards this year. Residents can also purchase additional 5 punch guest cards from lifeguards for $15. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and will be reaching out to residents who have already obtained their ACTIVENet ID cards with instructions on picking up their complimentary guest cards.
To activate your new ACTIVENet account and get your new ID card, just come by the SRCA onsite office. ID cards are being issued on Tuesdays, 9 am – 12 pm; Wednesdays, 3 pm – 6 pm, and Fridays, 3 pm – 6 pm. Additional evening and weekend hours will be available through the summer and will be announced via SRCA communications channels.
Note: All current Homeowner ID cards will be honored throughout 2023, and homeowners can also present a valid Texas drive rs license showing their Stonebridge Ranch address for the balance of this year.
All household members will need to be present for a new picture. Please check the requirements listed below so you know what documents to bring with you when requesting a new ID card.
Items to Bring with you for New ID Card Issuance Current Residents with SRCA ID Cards: Bring your SRCA ID card AND a governmentissued photo ID with your Stonebridge Ranch address listed (Adults 18+). If the picture on your child’s ID card is several years old and the child’s appearance has changed dramatically, please bring
along documentation to prove each child’s residency and guardianship (one of the following): a birth certificate, adoption certificate, or passport for each child. You may bring physical copies of these documents to the office or show a picture of them on your smartphone.
For homeowners with names listed on the property deed, you need only provide a valid Texas driver’s license showing your Stonebridge Ranch address. If you are new to the state and do not have a Texas driver’s license yet, you must show your current license as a form of photo ID, plus any billing statement showing your name and Stonebridge Ranch address. The billing statement can be digital and shown to staff via your smartphone. (It is the homeowners’ responsibility to know in advance if their name is/is not on the property deed.)
For permanent adult residents of the household, whose name is not listed on the property deed, you will need to show your Texas driver’s license with your Stonebridge Ranch address AND a billing statement showing your name and Stonebridge Ranch address. You must be accompanied to the office by the owner of record listed on the property deed. (It is the homeowners’ responsibility to know in advance if their name is/is not on the property deed.)
For Leasing Tenants:
Please note tenant ID cards issued last pool season expired on 4/30/23. To obtain a new ID card for this year, you and the homeowner must both fill out and sign the Transfer of Privileges form. Forms must be submitted to the office with the annual $100 processing fee in advance. Additionally, the leasing tenant and all resident members of the tenant household must come into the office for the photo ID and present proof of residency documents as listed below:
• ADULTS 18+: a Texas Driver’s license with Stonebridge Ranch address AND a billing statement with Stonebridge Ranch address.
• CHILDREN 3‐17: Birth Certificate or Vital Record, Adoption Certificate, and/or Passport.
Tenant ID Cards processing takes 5‐7 business days so please plan ahead. Incomplete forms and/ or missing fees will not be processed. Prior to the issuance of Leasing Tenant ID Cards, homeowners electing to lease their homes in accordance with SRCA’s governing documents must make sure their
Lease Registration is complete: SRCA must have on file a completed Lease Registration Form, a copy of the executed lease, property management agreement (if applicable), and received payment of non‐refundable registration fee of $100 per year for each leased property. The deadline to register is 30 days after an owner executes a lease agreement. Failure to register and/or submit the required form and fee will result in a fine of $250 per month.
ACTIVENet is an exciting addition to SRCA! It will allow digital access at select SRCA functions. We ask for your patience as we continue to roll out this service to our over 9,400 homes and close to 35,000 residents.
As always, contact our on-site staff with any questions: 214-733-5800 or STONEB@ciramail. com.
We have immediate openings for two onsite compliance inspectors.
You’ll play a vital part in keeping Stonebridge Ranch the premier planned residential community in North Texas. Duties include visual inspections of Stonebridge Ranch properties, educating homeowners about compliance, issuing violation notices and following through as required, and keeping accurate records and follow ups.
Benefits include vacation time, 401K program, medical insurance and more.
We enjoyed a very pleasant spring here at Stonebridge Ranch, but it’s July and we can expect the weather to begin heating up soon.
For our residents, both new and old, here’s a quick primer to both Stonebridge Ranch swimming facilities.
The Beach Club is located just behind our main office building at 6201 Virginia Parkway. It includes an iconic beach and swim lagoon, overlooking Stonebridge Lake. Professional lifeguards are staffed around the pool during all open hours.
We strive to keep at least one pool open each day during pool season. Each pool is closed one day per week for cleaning. On rainy days when thunder and/or lightning are present, the lifeguards will call a thirty-minute safety break and then reassess the situation.
Occasionally following very heavy rains, if the lifeguards can’t see the bottom of the pool due to sand runoff from the beach, we must close the Beach Club to protect swimmer safety. In such cases, we will post the Beach Club closure to the homepage of this website and the official SRCA Facebook group.
While the Beach Club pool is large, it does carry a maximum people load limit, just like building occupancy signs you see posted by a fire marshal’s office. The Beach Club pool maximum occupancy is 225 people. This number is arrived at through a series of equations and calculations that all public/
semi-private pools in Texas use in order to comply with Title 25 of the Texas Administrative Code Chapter 265. These rules provide guidance for calculating the maximum number of users allowed in a commercial swimming pool or spa at any time (AKA maximum user load) The regulations may be found at www.dshs. texas.gov/public-swimming-pools-spas/ laws-rules-public-swimming-pools-spas. Our other swim area is the Aquatic Center, located at 7501 Coronado Drive next to Stonebridge Plaza. The center includes a junior Olympic-shaped pool that’s perfect for the serious lap swimmer as well as families looking for a fun dip. The Aquatic Center also offers a kiddie-wading pool with an interactive water feature suitable for toddlers. As with the Beach Club, professional life guards watch over swimmers during open hours. While the Beach Club’s occupancy is 225 people, the smaller Aquatic Center pool has a “load limit” of 150 people.
You can get full information for the Aquatic Center on the Stonebridge Ranch website here: stonebridgeranch.com/aquatic-center/. Full information on the Beach Club is here: stonebridgeranch.com/beach-and-tennis-club/. Come and join us and have a splashing good time! ◀
As Stonebridge Ranch approaches its 35th birthday, we’re beginning a new monthly feature – a look back at our Archives.
The Stonebridge News came out in a large newsprint format from 2005 up until May of 2013, when it switched over to the magazine format you’re familiar with. Prior to the newsprint format, the News was called “The Communicator” and was an 8 ½ x 11 inch 4 to 8 page publication. The earliest edition of that in our archives dates from 1994.
The magazine is undergoing another change as it switches to an every other month digital only issue. Here are two items from the July, 2005 issue.
An article about 4th of July at the Beach Club; sand castle building contests and an on-site DJ were as popular in 2005 as they are today.
And in the more things change the more they stay the same department: our compliance staff issued notes about correct storage of your garbage totes and a notice that trailers, boats, jet-skis, RVs and ATVs cannot be parked on the driveway or on the street. ◀
No matter how long you’ve been a part of the Stonebridge Ranch family, there’s always something new to find out. This month we’re introducing a new feature to let your knowledge shine! We’ll be asking two questions. The answers are printed on page 29. Don’t peek!
Question one:
Stonebridge Ranch is comprised of 76 villages. You might think that takes up a lot of land, and it does. How many acres does Stonebridge emcompass?
Question two:
Before it was Stonebridge Ranch, the tract of land at the heart of Stonebridge was another ranch. What was the name of it?

The Fourth of July kicks off at the Beach Club on Tuesday, July 4 – let’s gather to celebrate our nation’s birthday with a neighborly day full of fun and music! (But NO fireworks – more on that in a moment.)
The pool opens at 10:00 a.m. Our annual Sandcastle Building Contest – a crowd favorite – will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Teams may consist of up to 6 members of any age.
Connie Baxter, SRCA Lifestyle Director, says the Sandcastle contest is always popular. “It’s just amazing to see what people come up with,” says Baxter. “Sometimes I wish there was a way of preserving these sculptures.”
Our favorite DJ will be playing music poolside from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and we will have the Snowie To Go truck in the Circle Drive from 12:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. or until supplies run out. (One snow cone per person, please).
Be sure to pack your coolers for sustenance. Note that glass containers are prohibited.
Kids, parents, grandparents, and friends work together to create something beautiful. Prizes are awarded to the first-place teams in the following categories: Most Patriotic, Best Animal/Reptile/ Creature, and Best Castle.
Baxter notes that any sand castles started before 11:00 a.m. will not be considered.
As a reminder, no more than three (3) guests per resident household are allowed on holidays. Guest entrance fees apply. The Beach Club will close at 4:00 p.m. on the 4th. If you aren’t ready to stop swimming, head on over to the Aquatic Center, which will be open until 8:00 p.m.
After a long day of fun in the sun, swimming, and snow cones, you may be ready to enjoy some fireworks. Who doesn’t enjoy the spectacular pyrotechnic displays of multi-colored sparks and thundering booms? To be honest, there are actually some of your friends who don’t enjoy it, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
With NO exceptions, Stonebridge Ranch does NOT allow resident fireworks within its borders. In fact, last year’s Stonebridge Ranch Day in September to celebrate the founding anniversary of the community used intelligent drones to fly out patterns in the night sky instead of the fireworks used in the past. The ban on fireworks is kind of a double no, because the City of McKinney does not allow fireworks in its borders and for 5,000 feet outside the city limits, either.
McKinney Fire Department Public Information Officer Merit Ossian says “We don’t want anyone
getting hurt or homes damaged. Leave fireworks to the professionals and have a safe holiday.”
Ossian points to City fireworks regulations as follows:
• It is illegal to possess or use fireworks in McKinney and 5,000 feet outside the city limits.
• This includes sparklers.
• Poppers are allowed.
• Fines up to $2,000.
McKinney defines fireworks as any composition or device for the purpose of producing a visible or an audible effect for entertainment purposes by combustion, deflagration, detonation and/or activated by ignition with a match or other heat producing device. By definition this includes sparklers. These can burn at a temperature up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Not something you want your child holding! In fact, sparklers are the leading cause of firework-related injuries in children under 12.
According to the National Safety Council, fireworks start an average of 18,500 fires each year. It’s worse when drought conditions exist. The Consumer Products Safety Commission says at least nine people
died and an estimated 11,500 were injured in 2021 in fireworks accidents. Adults ages 20 to 24 years had the highest rate of emergency department treated fireworks injuries in 2021; an estimated 31 percent of injuries involved hands and fingers.
We mentioned earlier that some of your friends don’t like loud fireworks. We’re talking about your pets, particularly dogs. The American Veterinary Association recommends that pets be put inside or in an escape proof area during fireworks shows. Loud fireworks are frightening to pets and there is a risk of them running away. Be sure that your pets are micro-chipped for recovery.
So, your dogs are safe, and you’re ready for the big show. McKinney is doing its annual Red, White and BOOM. Denise Lessard with the City of McKinney says the show will be held at Gabe Nesbitt Community Park. “We’ll start with a couple of concerts beginning at six pm, and the fireworks are scheduled to get underway at 9:45 p.m.” You can get information here: mckinneytexas.org/RWB.
Watching that display is the perfect way to end the July 4th day you spent at Stonebridge Ranch Beach Club! Have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July, and we look forward to seeing you at the pool! ◀
Stonebridge Ranch Community Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Mathew Roebuck as Director for Landscape and Grounds.
Mathew believes that the mission statement of Stonebridge Ranch Community Association – to be the premier master-planned community in North Texas – not only applies to our residents and amenities, but also to our trees and landscaping. He believes as times change we must develop new methods in preserving our landscapes and their aesthetics, and that cultivating strong relationships and learning community history are imperative to helping maintain and successfully grow a master planned community.
Mathew brings over 16 years of landscaping experience with large-scale communities and commercial properties in North Texas. His background includes developing plans and budgets for landscaping, irrigation, and trees as properties mature.
He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Horticulture for Grounds Management. He holds Texas licenses for Irrigation and Pesticide Application and is working toward a license as an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist.
Mathew spends his free time with his fiancée, two dogs, and family. He enjoys hunting and racing vintage dirt bikes in veteran motorcycle leagues.
The Stonebridge Ranch Beach Club is a popular spot in the summer months. Swimming, wading, sand castle building, or just laying out and catching some rays are pleasant ways to spend time in the sun. Equally popular is the Aquatic Center, where swimmers can do laps, families can bring their small children for an interactive water feature, and also get a lot of sun!
You can be as physically active as you want to be, reduce stress, and catch up on your vitamin D – but remember to be sun safe.
While Stonebridge Ranch posts lifeguards around each of our pools for your safety, it’s up to you to be your own lifeguard when it comes to summer sun protection.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says skin cancer is the most common cancer in the nation. Over six million adults get treatment for skin cancer each year at a cost of nearly nine billion dollars.
How can you avoid being part of those statistics?
The only fool-proof way is to stay out of the sun, but that’s not practical. You need to protect yourself from UV rays that can damage skin cells and lead to skin cancers. Sunscreen of SPF (Sun Protection Factor) 15 or more is recommended. Remember that sunscreen isn’t an apply it and forget it type of product. It needs to be reapplied after swimming, or at least once every two hours or more frequently if you are a heavy sweater. Don’t forget your face and forehead!
• Wear a large hat that will shade your face, ears, and the back of your neck. A baseball cap is good, but your ears are exposed – use sunscreen.
• A pair of sunglasses not only make you look cool, they protect your eyes and reduce the risk of cataracts.
• If you’re not searching for a tan, or will be outside for a very long time, wear long sleeve shirts or skirts, or even a beach wrap.
• Don’t believe that a cloudy day is protecting your skin. Clouds don’t matter to UV rays, and neither does outside temperature. You may have seen people with sunburned faces who just got back from a ski trip. UV rays bounce off snow!
First, stay out of the sun for a while. These tips are from the American Academy of Dermatology:
• Take frequent cool baths or showers to help relieve the pain. As soon as you get out of the bathtub or shower, gently pat yourself dry, but leave a little water on your skin. Then, apply a moisturizer to help trap the water in your skin. This can help ease the dryness.
• Use a moisturizer that contains aloe vera or soy to help soothe sunburned skin. If a particular area feels especially uncomfortable, you may want to apply a hydrocortisone cream that you can buy without a prescription. Do not treat sunburn with “-caine” products (such as benzocaine), as these may irritate the skin or cause an allergic reaction.
• Consider taking aspirin or ibuprofen to help reduce any swelling, redness, and discomfort.
• Drink extra water. A sunburn draws fluid to the skin’s surface and away from the rest of the body. Drinking extra water when you are sunburned helps prevent dehydration.
• If your skin blisters, allow blisters to heal. Blistering skin means you have a second-degree sunburn. You should not pop the blisters, as blisters form to help your skin heal and protect you from infection.
• Take extra care of sunburned skin while it heals. Wear clothing that covers your skin when outdoors. Tightly-woven fabrics work best. When
you hold the fabric up to a bright light, you shouldn’t see any light coming through.
Sun burns aren’t the only things to worry about in prolonged summer heat exposure. Heat stroke, or sun stroke, happens when your body overheats and reached a temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
The Mayo Clinic lists these symptoms of heat stroke:
• High body temperature. A core body temperature of 104 F (40 C) or higher is the main sign of heat stroke.
• Altered mental state or behavior. Confusion, agitation, slurred speech, irritability, delirium, seizures, and coma can all result from heat stroke.
• Alteration in sweating. In heat stroke brought on by hot weather, your skin will feel hot and dry to the touch. However, in heatstroke brought on by strenuous exercise, your skin may feel dry or slightly moist.
• Nausea and vomiting. You may feel sick to your stomach or vomit.
• Flushed skin. Your skin may turn red as your
body temperature increases.
• Rapid breathing. Your breathing may become rapid and shallow.
• Racing heart rate. Your pulse may significantly increase because heat stress places a tremendous burden on your heart to help cool your body.
• Headache. Your head may throb.
Heat stroke can strike quickly. If you notice these signs in someone, get them indoors out of the sun, and begin cooling them down. A bath of cold or ice water has proven to be an effective way of quickly lowering body core temperature. Call for medical assistance.
Preventing heat stroke is pretty much a commonsense practice. Drink plenty of water to hydrate, not alcoholic or sugary beverages, protect against sunburn, and wear loose-fitting, light weight clothing.
Never, ever, leave a person or pet in a parked car in warm or hot weather, even with the windows cracked. Interior temperatures can shoot up twenty degrees in less than ten minutes.
Be safe in the sun and enjoy your summer at the Beach Club and Aquatic Center at Stonebridge Ranch! ◀

2. Submission. Choose your one favorite photo that was taken at any Stonebridge Ranch event throughout the year. New or existing photos are welcome. In the body of the email, please include a brief description, including the Stonebridge Ranch event where the photo was taken. All persons captured in the photo must consent to a photo release form, which will be sent to the applicant upon receipt of photo.
After the winning photo is selected by the SRCA Communications Committee, we will contact the winner to share the good news. The photo will be featured on the October cover of Stonebridge Ranch News
3. Winner Selection. All entries will be judged by the SRCA Communications Committee after the
submission deadline of August 14. Each image will be judged on its composition, quality, and how it captures the Stonebridge Ranch lifestyle. We will notify the winner by Friday, August 25. The winning entry will be featured on the cover of the October 2023 Stonebridge Ranch News magazine.
4. Prize. In addition to being featured on the cover of the October magazine, the winner will receive a $50 gift card! Bragging rights are another benefit!
All entries will be published in a digital photo gallery on our website at www.StonebridgeRanch. com. They may also be published in future communications sent by Stonebridge Ranch. These communications channels include: E-news blasts, Facebook page and Stonebridge Ranch News magazine. Honorable mention photos may also be published in the October magazine, space permitting.
5. Agreement. By submitting an entry as part of this contest, you grant Stonebridge Ranch Community Association (SRCA) permission without restriction to use your submitted photo, name, and narrative details in the Stonebridge Ranch News magazine and/or in collateral communications such as SRCA email blasts, social media, and/or the website at www. StonebridgeRanch.com. By submitting a photo, you also affirm that any identifiable people depicted in your photo have granted their consent for its publication. (Note: SRCA will NOT share your Stonebridge Ranch contact information or street address with others. This information will only be used to confirm your residency and communicate with the winner.)
6. Helpful Tips:
• If you’re looking for some creative ideas, photos of past contests are featured on our website at www.stonebridgeranch.com/ photo-gallery/.
• Although we accept photos in landscape
as well as portrait orientations, we highly recommend your photo to be in portrait orientation. This is ideal for the magazine cover.
• Outdoor photos are best. And Stonebridge Ranch provides some of the most beautiful scenery in the area!
• Touch-ups (Photoshop, filters, etc.) are permitted. However, it is advised to keep this to a minimum. We prefer the photos to have a natural appearance.
• We want to hear the story behind the photo! Include a few sentences about what compelled you to capture that moment. ◀
In 2022 the SRCA Communications Committee had some difficulty selecting only one winner as they carefully considered each submitted photo. Ultimately, they voted on the stunning photo by Katie Cox. Katie captured her photo of Lake LaCima with a hot air balloon gracing the morning sky. The photo truly captured the spirit of Stonebridge Ranch, which was last year’s theme!
