Thepeoplewesupportmayhaveany kindofdevelopmentaloracquired communicationdifficulty,including learningdisability,mentalhealth conditions,Autism,ADHD,braininjury ortheeffectsofastroke.Theycan beanyagefrom10yearsupwards. Themajorityofourserviceusersare aged18-30yearsold.

Therole

Location: AnywhereinEngland,butwitheasyaccesstoamajorrailwaystation

Responsibleto: TeamLeader/SeniorLeadershipTeam

Hours: Fulltime(average40hoursperweekincludingtravel),workedflexibly from6amuntil10pmaccordingtotheneedsoftheservice.Thiswillvarybased onworkassigned.

Salary: From£23,080-£28,536perannum

YouwillworkthroughourIntermediaryTrainingProgramme,whichisaccredited byNCFE.Completionofthisprogrammetakes6to9months,andoncequalified yoursalaryincreasesto£28,536.

Jobpurpose: Tofacilitatecommunicationbetweenaserviceuserandthejustice systemtoensureitisascomplete,coherentandaccurateaspossible.

MainDuties:

Promptlyandeffectivelyestablish rapportwithaserviceuser

Carryoutanassessmentoftheservice user 'scommunicationabilities

Describethosecommunicationskills

tolawyersandworkwiththemto enabletheserviceusertoparticipate effectivelyinthetrialprocess.This couldincludeadviceonthestructure ofquestionsandalsoanyconcepts thatthepersonhasdifficulty understanding

Facilitatecommunicationbetweenthe serviceuserandotherparties

Prepareawrittenreportonthe serviceuser’scommunicationneeds, includingstrategieswhichwillassist atcourt Workeffectivelywithcolleaguesand externalpractitionerswithinthe frameworkofCommunicourt’s policiesandprocedures

Developpersonalskillsandtheskills ofothersthroughindividual supervisionandeffectiveteamwork

Undertakeotherdutiesasmay reasonablyberequested

Intermediariesaremobileworkersandneedtobeableto completeITtasksautonomouslyusingwellknownand bespokeITpackages.

Writecommunicationreportsforarangeofprofessional audiences.Mustbeabletowriteclearly,coherentlyand accuratelytoensureeffectivedeliveryofassessment findingstothecourts.Thismaybewithinlimitedtimeframes.

Confidence speakingto different audiences

Intermediariesneedtospeakopenlytoacourtroom, discussingrecommendationsandbeconfidentintheir deliveryinaformalenvironment.

Applicantsshouldbe:

Focussed,with ahighlevelof confidentiality

Abletoconcentrateandusealaptopindistracting environmentssuchascafés,busycourtenvironmentsand whentravellingontrains.Haveaconfidentialspaceavailable athomeinordertoundertakeassessments,hearingsortrials remotely.

Flexible Workcanbeunpredictable.Intermediariesneedtobe willingandabletostayawayfromhome,sometimesat shortnotice.
