BENEFITS AND SERVICES HBAM MEMBERS RECEIVE LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY AND POLITICAL EDUCATION HBAM offers effective legislative lobbying at the local, state and national level, representing housing interests and advocating strong positions on issues that impact the housing industry and fights restrictive legislation and regulations. HBAM staff is only a phone call away with information about new regulations, laws or industry concerns. At the state level, HBAM reviews thousands of bills during the Maryland General Assembly session, monitoring those issues which most dramatically affect the home building industry. The Association’s legislative arm in Annapolis, the Maryland State Builders Association, employs full-time staff to monitor the activities of various state legislative committees and to meet with members of the Maryland General Assembly.

On the local level, HBAM operates a nationally recognized, award winning governmental affairs program. Chapter leadership meets regularly with local elected officials as well as advocates for the housing industry. HBAM has one of the most unique and successful political action programs in the nation, realizing that the election of a candidate is truly the beginning of effective legislative involvement. As a member, you can participate in state and local PAC’s designed to promote the candidacy of elected officials who support a viable housing industry.

Councils Land Development Council The Land Development Council offers services and special interest programs covering government relations and representation, educational opportunities, marketing exposure as well as the exchange of ideas to promote high standards within the development industry. The Maryland Residential Green Building Council The Maryland Residential Green Building Council is the state’s first residential green building program to certify local associates, builders, remodelers and developers using the ANSI certified ICC-700 National Green Building Standard. As the premier provider of information and resources related to green buildings, the MRGBC serves as a central hub for consumers going “green”.
