FIND WHAT FITS

Think of your MATC education as a ladder you climb to reach your career goals. As you climb, you earn credentials, from certificates to technical diplomas to associate degrees. Each credential leads to a job or, in the case of an associate degree, a job or transferring to a four-year college or university.

Technical Diploma Specific job training with hands-on learning that involves more class time and less homework.

Associate Degree Savings-savvy students earn an associate degree in two years at MATC and then either start their careers or transfer to one of our more than 40 transfer partners (see page 18 for details).

FULL RIDE OR FREE TUITION

MATC Foundation scholarships pay for tuition or the entire cost of your education, making college a reality for many students. Visit matc.edu/ scholarships for a full list of scholarships.

THE ELLEN AND JOE CHECOTA MATC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Students in short-term technical diploma and certificate programs may be eligible for this full-ride scholarship that puts them on the fast track to a career by covering:

• Tuition and course fees

• Required books and equipment/supplies through the MATC Bookstore

• Child care (during classes, advising and commute time) reimbursed through MATC Children’s Centers or a state-licensed child care provider

• Food through the campus meal plan and grocery gift cards

• Housing as available at Westown Green apartments

• Transportation through Milwaukee County Transit System U-PASS or MATC parking vouchers

MATC PROMISE

Wisconsin’s first free tuition program covers up to 75 credits of your MATC education.

• New High School Grads, including GED/HSED/AHS graduates, who will start MATC in the fall semester after their senior year

• Adults age 24 and older who live in the MATC district and have earned at least 6 college credits

A HEAD START ON COLLEGE

Whether you are a current high school student eager to earn college credit or a working adult with experience, MATC has programs to honor your hard work.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

By taking dual credit classes at MATC during your junior or senior year of high school, you can earn high school and college credit at the same time. Email dualcredit@matc.edu for details.

High school students can also earn college credits through Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and the College Level Exam Program.

ADULTS

Don’t start at zero! Prior work experience, certifications, military training, national exams and professional licenses may qualify for college credit through Credit for Prior Learning and Experience (CLPE). Learn more at matc.edu/cple.

MATC’s programs are organized into seven Academic and Career Pathways that cover 170+ programs, offering associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates. Find the one that’s right for you by working with a recruiter.

Business & Management

Enter the world of business and finance with the skills to manage and supervise. Instructors with industry expertise lead programs in accounting, business management, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, real estate, human resources and more.

Community & Human Services

Serving your community is a noble calling, whether you are on the front line as a paramedic, firefighter, police officer, teacher, social worker, or serve in other ways as a child care provider, barber, cosmetologist or funeral director. Experienced instructors teach you the skills to make a difference in the community.

Creative Arts, Design & Media

Calling all bakers, designers and website makers! Turn your passion and creative talents into a career. Programs include animation, baking and pastry arts, computer simulation and gaming, culinary arts, television and video production, graphic design, interior design, photography, music occupations, and more.

General Education

Your journey to a bachelor’s degree starts right here. Complete General Education requirements, earn an associate of arts or science degree specific to your transfer major, and check off prerequisites for a bachelor’s degree at one of our 40+ transfer partners. See page 18 for more details.

STORMERS PRIDE

Athletics pump up Stormers spirit at MATC, where a legacy of sports began in the 1940s. MATC competes in the North Central Community College Conference and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). MATC athletes play basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.

“Earn while you learn” with an employer or trade union. These formal training agreements last from two to five years, and most apprentices earn 50% of the current skilled wage rate.

Student Orientation & Registration Meetings (STORM) is a streamlined process to support and onboard newly admitted students and students returning from two or more semesters away.

Visit Self-Service online to view class schedules and register for classes based on your Pathway advisor meeting and STORM orientation.

ACCEPT FINANCIAL AID/PAYMENT

After registration, visit Self-Service online to view and accept your financial aid award package, make a payment or start a payment plan.
