Executive Highlights
MESA accommodated a total of 59 teach-ins, 46 of which were for undergraduate level, while 13 were for graduate level, staff and faculty. Total participants in the teach-ins was 1370.
MESA committed to offering thirteen Large Grant applications and all were awarded.

During the pandemic, MESA encouraged virtual creative projects for student events and programs. MESA received 42 Small Grant applications, and 32 were awarded for a total $5,844.66 in fall 2020 and $24.935.20 in winter 2021.
In close partnership with both La Casa and the Arab Student Association, MESA sponsored and virtually welcomed 46 ALMA and 28 SALAM participants.
In partnership with the Spectrum Center, Ginsburg Center, and the Program for Intergroup Relations (IGR), MESA virtually piloted the Allyhood and Agency Building (AAB) Workshop Series, offered to all first year and transfer students who participated in MESA Welcome and Mentoring Programs to explore social identities, allyhood development, as well as power perspectives and mapping.
All five Heritage Month Programs were conducted virtually. A total of 95 events were held, consisting of a mix of cultural celebrations and educational dialogues to commemorate the history, struggles, triumphs, and contributions each community made to US society. While most of the events were coordinated by various student organizations, MESA and the Heritage Month Planning Committee focused on high profile speaker events to discuss important topics ranging from the BLM movement, emotional resilience and generational trauma, environmental justice, and voting rights to name a few.
MESA sponsored both SAAN and High School Virtual Conferences.
MESA concluded a Pacific Islander Student Support Benchmarking Project and laid out action steps to engage the PI community and raise awareness about PI culture and community on campus.
