ABOUT US The Program on Intergroup Relations (IGR) is a social justice education program that blends theory and experiential learning to facilitate students’ learning about social group identity, social inequality, and intergroup relations. IGR was founded in 1988 and is a partnership between Student Life and the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA).
Mission IGR is committed to educating students about intergroup relations and social justice, emphasizing student learning through intergroup dialogue, engaged pedagogies, research, and leadership opportunities both in and out of the classroom. With a focus on the whole student, IGR works to create opportunities for students to facilitate, think critically, reflect, build leadership skills and resiliency. The program prepares students to work, live, thrive, and actively contribute to a more inclusive campus and community. IGR strives to work with others on the U-M campuses and at other colleges and universities to build capacity to offer students these types of opportunities.
