EXQUISITE COMICS VIRTUAL - Two days, 28 participants, one story
Enter Comic Invasion 2020, the virtual festival. A comic drawing challenge takes place... each of the participants apart, but connected with an email, a screen and a will to create something surreal, fun and unexpected—the Exquisite Comics! During the festival weekend the participants engaged in the grand tradition of exquis i t e c o r p s e , a s u r r e a l i s t d r a w i n g g a m e i n v e n t e d i n 1 9 2 5 b y t h e s u r r e a l i s t s Y v e s T a n g u y, Jacques Prévert, André Breton and Marcel Duchamp and well-loved by contemporary arti s t s l i k e F r i d a K a h l o . E a c h p l a y e r d r a w s t w o p a n e l s t h a t c o n t i n u e t h e s a m e s t o r y. T h e players were allowed to see only the last panels drawn by the previous person, after w h i c h t h e y w e r e c h a l l e n g e d t o c o n t i n u e t h e s t o r y, d r a w i n g t h e s i t u a t i o n f o r w a r d w i t h i n j u s t o n e h o u r ! Wä h r e n d d e s F e s t i v a l w o c h e n e n d e s w i d m e n s i c h d i e Te i l n e h m e r * i n n e n d e r g r o ß e n Tr a d i tion des Exquisite Corpse, einem surrealistischen Zeichenspiel, das 1925 von den Surr e a l i s t e n Y v e s T a n g u y, J a c q u e s P r é v e r t , A n d r é B r e t o n u n d M a r c e l D u c h a m p e r f u n d e n w u r d e u n d b e i z e i t g e n ö s s i s c h e n K ü n s t l e r * i n n e n w i e F r i d a K a h l o s e h r b e l i e b t w a r. J e d e * r Spieler*in zeichnet zwei Panels, die die gleiche Geschichte fortsetzen. Die Spieler*innen durften nur die letzten Panels sehen, die von der vorherigen Person gezeichnet wurden. Danach wurden sie aufgefordert, die Geschichte fortzusetzen und die Situation innerhalb v o n n u r e i n e r S t u n d e n a c h v o r n e z u b r i n g e n ! D a s T h e m a ? W I D E R S TA N D !
