Dear Mr. Peter Oborn,
Commonwealth Association of Architects EDGE training
I hope this letter finds you well. I would like to express our appreciation for your involvement in promoting the EDGE Expert and Designing for Greater Efficiency (DfGE) programs through your wide academic network on behalf of the EDGE and DfGE teams. We are delighted to work with you to publicize and deliver these innovative programs that seek to integrate sustainable design concepts into architecture education. We welcome your support in spreading information about these programs within your Commonwealth university network
The Designing for Greater Efficiency (DfGE) course has been developed, curated, and offered by IFC to advance the cause of sustainability in the built environment. The course is offered in both online and inperson modes and encourages the development of skills, knowledge, and attitudes to support the built environment’s transition to a low-carbon path. The DfGE Course is aimed at teaching faculty and students together with senior architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering professionals and building design practitioners who wish to improve their climate literacy while learning how to design resourceefficient structures.
The self-paced DfGE online edition is a 16-hour course that may be completed at one's own pace. Learners will have three (3) months to access the course materials and submit the final design project. Although the online course is now free, IFC intends to start charging a fee soon for course completion certification.
Furthermore, DfGE is also offered to students as a 20-hour course through affiliated universities, giving them access to a more in-depth learning environment where they can study under teaching faculty who have been trained by IFC. If the collaborating university offers DfGE as a free course, IFC will not charge for the course materials and faculty training offered through the Training of Trainers (ToT) program If a course fee is charged, the university is required to share 25% of the course's overall earnings with IFC. A licensing agreement between the university and IFC is required, and the final decision to collaborate with the university is at the sole discretion of the IFC.
EDGE Experts are architects, engineers, and construction industry professionals who are dependable and knowledgeable advisors on projects to encourage the building sector to design and construct sustainably. By providing their expertise and understanding of the EDGE software to their clients, they bring outstanding value by ascertaining that a proposed project will succeed in being EDGE certified. To become
accredited as an EDGE Expert, professionals must successfully complete an 8-hour EDGE training course and pass the EDGE Expert Exam.
We welcome you to share details about our program, as well as any associated marketing materials and program contact information, with your extensive network All promotions must uphold our brand standards with due credit given to IFC
We would like to extend our gratitude for your support to the green building movement of IFC by promoting the EDGE Expert and Designing for Greater Efficiency (DfGE) program in your associated networks.
We look forward to working with you toward a sustainable future.
Best regards,

Michelle M. Farrell IFC EDGE, Senior Operations Officer, Marketing and Business Development
