Fall is on the Way! Join us on Friday, Sept. 6th @ Noon for our Labor Day Picnic Lunch. Labor Day marks the official end of summer but not neceearaly the heat. With that being said we will have our celebration inside and stay cool. We will have BBQ Chicken, Potato Salad and the other good trimmings to go with it. We will also enjoy some cold Watermelon for dessert! Joy will bring out a few games for us to play before lunch, with some door prizes thrown in as well. Wear your Red, White and Blue and join us for a good time. Remember to sign - up by Wednesday 5 PM of that week if you will be joining us for lunch! Hope to see everyone here!

Labor Day Holiday: Open from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM - No exercise Classes or Line Dancing.

Coffee dues are due to Bertha or Judy the 1st of every month. Dues are $3.00 month.

Blood Pressure Checks: 1st Friday of every month. Location Art Room from 10 AM - 12:00 PM - Free thru Piedmont Hospital’s Mobile Unit.

Center Programs

Moderately Strenuous Exercise Classes:

Join Dot on Mon, Wed & Fri at 8:459:30 am for a great work out in the gym next door. Keep in mind that you don’t have to be able to do all the exercises to benefit from this class! Regular exercise keeps your mind active longer and helps ward off Heart Disease. The gym is available to walk in before and after class!!

You may also use the Treadmills and Weight machines before class.

Stretch & Strengthening Class:

Join Joy every Mon, Wed & Fri at 9:30 am in the gym for a variety of exercises to help with pain associated with Arthritis and other ailments associated with growing older.

This class continues to grow and allows participants to exercise at a slower pace than our first session. Weight Room may only be used before class starts!

Line Dancing Class: Every Monday’s @ 10:00 AM & Friday’s at 9:50 AM. Come join us for some great fun as you enjoy a workout as well. No charge to attend! Class meets in the dining room. No experience necessary!

Chair Volleyball: Practice in the Gym Wed. @ 10 - 11:00 AM & Thurs. 9 - 11 AM. No experience needed!

Art Room: Open daily: Self instruction only!

Cards: Various card games played daily bring a partner.

Bingo: meets on Tuesdays and Fridays at 1 pm.

Please bring 2 - $1.00 gifts. If you don’t bring any gifts, you can still play but you cannot win a gift!

Needlepoint Club: Meets every Mon., Wed., Fri after the morning exercise in the Ceramic Room. Newcomers are always welcome!

CLUB MEETING:

B’day / Tea Party

Join us on Thursday, September 19 @ 1:00 PM for our monthly Tea Party / Birthday Party.

We will have an assortment of Tea Sandwiches and some light sweets to go with it. In addition to the Hot Tea we will serve some Ice-cold Lemonade as well.

We will fire up the Karaoke Machine and let everyone have a try at singing Karaoke. Please feel free to invite a friend to join you. Cost is $2.00 per person. Hope to see everyone here!

Grannies Babies Club Meeting: Date: Meet every Wednesday @ 10:00 AM in the

Doll Room. Please touch base with the other members to see if you will be eating in or out that day!

Come check these ladies out, as they are always making something new and unique on those fancy machines they have. Please note that this group no longer makes Porcelain Dolls or teaches anyone how to make them.

Columbus Botanical Gardens The senior section has planned a trip to see the gardens and do the Nature Trail as well .The trail itself is through the woods and leads to the Camilla Gardens. Please be sure you are able to walk the trail unassisted before signing up. Date & Time: Tues. Sept. 24 & 9:30 AM. Cost is $5.00 for lunch, which will be pizza @ Lake Heath Park.

West Point Picnic Do to these trips coming at the very beginning of October we are going ahead and letting everyone know in Sept. The West Point Picnic will be on Thursday, October 3rd @ 8:30 AM. Cost is $7.00 to ride the van. Lunch will be a Hotdog or Hamburger Plate provided free of charge at the Lake.

Stars & Strikes Trip: Bowling is back by popular demand. We will travel to Stars & Strikes on Tuesday, Sept. 10 @ 11:30 AM. Cost is $6.00, which includes shoes.

Transportation limited to 14. Payment required when you sign - up!

Ga. National Fair It’s that time of year to go see the sights and sounds of the fair in Perry. This is a great fair and has everything you would see in a traditional fair. Please dress accordingly as it is a lot of walking if you plan to see the whole fair. Date & Time is: Tuesday, Oct. 8th @ 8:00 AM. Cost is $15.00 which includes your admission into the fair.

Red Hat Meeting: We had a great meeting here at the center last month.

This month we will be traveling to Valley, Al. to shop at the West Point Textile Outlet. Once we have finished up there we will load up and go around the corner to Sunny’s Home Cooking for lunch. Date & Time for this trip will be Tuesday, September 17 @ 9:00 AM. Cost is $7.00 with lunch on your own.
