This is a magnificent colt. We purchased him for a number of reasons...

Obviously type; he’s got everything going for him. Looks and conformation.

The Camelot blood over Shamardal mares is the magic cross as its produced multiple Group 1 performers.

Stallion - I believe Russian Camelot will make his way right up the sire ranks. We never got close to seeing the best of him as a racehorse. I have no doubt in my mind had he been sound to have a full racetrack career, he would have been hailed as one of the greats.

Inside knowledge -The 3 year old ¾ sister to our colt called Miss Brittany has had 5 starts and at her last start was a most impressive winner prompting her trainer Chris Waller to plot a path towards the Gr 1 QLD Oaks If she was successful, it would make our colt great value buying going forward. Thanks to Chris Waller for the inside information and for the good deed we will reward Chris by placing this beautiful colt into his yard and hopefully he can do similar things to his ¾ sister.

RUSSIANCAMELOT

2017 Camelot (Montjeu) x Lady Babooshka (Cape Cross)

Multiple Group 1 winner and 3-time Group 1 placed from just 11 starts … Timeform’s highest rated Australian 3YO in 2020 Outstanding Group 1 (6:2-2-1) & WFA (5:1-3-1) record only Northern hemisphere bred winner of an Australasian Derby Group 1 Underwood Stakes honour roll includes So You Think, Dundeel and Ocean Park …

Russian Camelot was a very lightly raced horse when he went to stud due to injury but his racetrack feats were extraordinary. What he did to win the South Australian Derby at just his 5th start when jumping from 1600 to 2500 was mind boggling.

He was the best of his generation but sadly we didn’t see him reach his full potential when he injured his tendon at just 11 starts with $2.3 million in the bank. His versatility was a great asset winning on debut at 1400 before running a slashing race in a Melbourne Cup when only beaten less than 4 lengths
