WHAT IS SKILLS FOR ALL?

AM I ELIGIBLE? From July 2012, most South Australians will be eligible for a government funded training place to get the skills needed by business and industry for jobs now and in the future. You will be eligible for a government funded training place if, at the time of enrolment, you either reside or work in South Australia, and you are: • An Australian or New Zealand citizen; or • A permanent Australian resident; or • The holder of a state sponsored visa on a pathway to permanent residency And: • Aged 16 years or over ; or • An apprentice or trainee. Before accessing government funded training, you will need to confirm your eligibility by contacting a Skills for All Training Provider, calling the Infoline 1800 506 266 or accessing the Eligibility Calculator on the website www.skills.sa.gov. au/training-learning/check-youreligibility

There are more than 1400 nationally recognised qualifications that will be funded under Skills for All and in 2013 a number of skill sets will also be funded.

HOW MUCH WILL THE TRAINING COST ME?

HOW DO I FIND A SKILLS FOR ALL TRAINING PROVIDER?

Over 300 courses on the Funded Training List at Certificate I and II levels will be fee-free with no course fees.

Skills for All Training Providers have been through a rigorous approval process to ensure they provide high quality training, have strong links with industry and support students to complete their training. Only Skills for All Training Providers can offer funded training under Skills for All. A list is available at: www. skills.sa.gov.au/findatrainingprovider

In addition, courses determined by the State Government to be priorities for the State including courses to improve reading, writing, use of numbers and computer skills, will also be fee-free.

Your Guide to Skills for All Government Funded Training

The courses available are listed on the Funded Training List at: www.skills.sa.gov.au/ findatrainingcourse If you are enrolled in school, you have access to those courses related to the Training Guarantee for SACE Students and schoolbased apprenticeships and traineeships.

You will pay course fees for most courses at Certificate III to Advanced Diploma levels. The amount you pay will be determined by the Skills for All Training Provider up to a maximum course fee which is set by the government at $7000 per course. There are a very small number of courses that will cost more and you can check with the Infoline 1800 506 266, if you are being charged more. Fee concessions are available and some Training Providers will offer VET FEE HELP whereby you can defer the cost of your training similar to HECS style loan arrangements. All Skills for All Training Providers must publish their course fees, so that you understand how much it will cost and can make an informed decision about where you want to train.

5

Before you make your decision to commence training, shop around and compare Training Providers to find the best option for you. Once you have made your decision, you will need to show your Training Provider that you meet the Skills for All eligibility criteria and any entry requirements relating to the specific course before being enrolled in government funded training. WHERE DO I GO NEXT? You can find more information at: www.skills.sa.gov.au or call the Infoline 1800 506 266.
