PGA of America News

Frisco, Texas

A defining moment in the history of the PGA of America

I

hope this finds everyone well and enjoying the holiday season. It is a great time of year, and it gives us all a chance to take a breath, relax a little, enjoy our families and get re-charged for the new golf season, which will be here before we know it. Some exciting news was made public in early December as the City of Frisco, Texas, and the PGA of America made the announcement that the PGA of America is moving its headquarters from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, to the City of Frisco. The new headquarters will anchor a 600-acre, mixed-use development that, when it opens in 2022, will include two championship golf courses, a short course and practice areas totaling 45 holes; a clubhouse; as well as a 500-room Omni Hotel and 127,000 square-foot conference center. The PGA of America is teaming with Omni Stillwater Woods; the City of Frisco, along with its Economic and Community Development Corporations; and the Frisco Independent School District. The vision we share with our partners at the City of Frisco and Omni Stillwater Woods is incredibly compelling. Frisco is one of the best-rated and fastest-growing communities in the country. To say Frisco is passionate about sports is a major understatement. In Frisco, we will be more centrally located and part of a major media market where our neighbors Ron Rawls, PGA will include dozens of corporate District 9 Director headquarters. The new PGA of America headquarters will initially employ at least 100 people at the Frisco-based headquarters. Approximately 100 PGA of America staff will remain in Palm Beach Gardens largely in operational roles. Maintaining a presence in Palm Beach Gardens, which has been a wonderful home for many years, is important to our fabric and is the ideal solution for our people and for the PGA of America.

The City of Frisco, Tex., and the PGA of America made an announcement that the PGA of America is moving its headquarters from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., to Frisco, Tex.

The championship golf course will be designed by Gil Hanse, whose recent work includes The Olympic Golf Course in Brazil. This course will be able to handle majors, but also be available for Member competitions and general play. We will have another championship golf course for public and Member use, designed by Beau Welling, who has had a long-term design relationship with Tiger Woods. The property will also include a nine-hole short course; and world-class practice, education and training facilities – all licensed and operated by the PGA of America. In addition, the campus will be the new home of the Northern Texas PGA. With better connectivity between Sections through embedded state-of-the-art technology, there will be promising opportunities to pilot new programming for all 41 Sections of the PGA of America. This announcement of a modern, Member-focused headquarters in Frisco will be a defining moment in the history of the PGA of America. Aligning with worldclass partners in a world-class location is a once-in-alifetime opportunity. Without question, this new facility will better position us to serve our Members. We hope to generate significant Member use at this property, with a home of which all PGA Members and Associates can be proud. Please remember that I am here to serve you, the Members and Associates of the PGA of America. If there is anything I can do or if you have any questions about the new PGA Headquarters, please don’t hesitate to contact me, ron@cranecreekcc.com. Merry Christmas to each and every one of you! At your service, Ron Rawls, PGA District 9 Director PGA of America Head Professional Crane Creek CC
