Troy Youngren, PGA
Certified Teaching Professional at GOLFTEC - Lakewood Where did you grow up? I grew up in Denver, Colorado. What was your first introduction to the game of golf? My future father-in-law introduced me to the game of golf. After I asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage, he took me to what was then the Centennial Golf and Tennis Club. I saw a “help wanted” sign on the wall, ended up applying for the job and working for Don Graham, PGA. Why did you choose to become a PGA Golf Professional? I was young when I started to work for Graham, and I didn’t know what I wanted to do at that point. From day one, the on-the-job-training I received, led me to love the business. What makes you most proud about being a PGA Professional? I am most proud of the relationships I have developed as a PGA Professional, which include students, clients and PGA Members. What golf facilities have you been employed at and in what capacity? • Head Professional at Centennial Golf and Tennis Club • Head Professional at South Suburban Golf Course • Head Professional at The Links at Cobble Creek in Montrose • Certified Teaching Professional at GOLFTEC What do you feel is the most meaningful contribution to the game of golf you have made? The most meaningful contribution I have made would be helping to establish the Cobble Creek Community from 9-holes to 18-holes to what it is today. What hobbies do you have outside of golf? My hobby is time with family: wife, Jill; Sons, Niko and Angelo; Daughter, Lexi and my grandson, Lhiam. If you could have a dream foursome, who would it be and why? My dream foursome would be to play with three eras: Ben Hogan, Payne Stewart and Tiger Woods.
