Blisters weren't mentioned much during my recent Wilderness First Responder training. The focus of the 24-hour recertification course was assessing and treating serious threats to life in the backcountry. Yet, blisters can certainly be serious threats to the enjoyment of a hiking trip—and sometimes much worse—as anyone who has experienced these debilitating friction burns on their feet can verify. 14
