I put together the lifelong learning catalog and help everyone register for the classes, help the instructors deliver the classes and am constantly looking for new instructors to help develop the best group of classes for the community to enjoy.

These classes are held in two locations this Fall. Most classes will be held at the CMU Tech Bishop campus at 2508 Blichmann Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81505 in Kayenta Hall. If noted near the description, some classes will be held in the new Clifton Community Center at 3270 D ½ Rd in Clifton. Overall, there are nearly 200 classes to choose from.
Fully Online
These are interactive courses that you can take entirely online. Fully online courses have the option to be instructor-led, with a specific start date and class schedule, or self-paced, where you can begin the course at any time and work at your own pace. We have over 700 online lifelong learning classes through our partnership with Ed2go, online medical career classes through our partner Career Step and online Real Estate classes with our partner the CE shop.

As the Mobile Learning Lab Fleet Manager and CDL Trainer/Certified Tester, I am responsible for the scheduling, operations, and maintenance of CMU Tech’s fleet of Mobile Learning Labs including three state-of-the-art mobile learning labs in allied health, mechatronics, and welding. In my role as a CDL Trainer, I deliver comprehensive instruction to prepare future commercial drivers for success in both training and certification testing.

Color Theory Foundations Oil Painters
This hands-on studio course explores color theory for oil painters, with no prior experience needed. Through lectures, art history, and eight formal exercises, you’ll learn palette strategies, color variations, and the use of traditional and

Stargazing 101
This class teaches you everything you need to know to get started in the hobby of astronomy and start enjoying the clear, steady night skies of western Colorado. Topics include the “Ps” of telescope buying, binoculars as an alternative to telescopes, how to find constellations and objects of interest in the night sky, basics of astrophotography and more.

Commercial Driver’s License training for a full CDL-A. This class will give you the full training to become a licensed CDL-A driver. Basic Pistol/CCW Training
This course is ideal for beginners, and a refresher for those shooters who want to improve their skills. This course teaches knowledge, skills, and attitude for safely owning and operating a handgun. Taught by NRA certified Instructors, who are Verified by the Mesa County Sheriff as Colorado CCW instructors, The class includes six-hour with hands-on classroom workshop on safe pistol operation, the fundamentals of effective pistol shooting, ammunition knowledge, Federal and Colorado gun laws and the legal principles of self-defense. The class also includes three-hours of coached shooting on the OMGC range. This course fulfills the new Colorado Concealed Carry training requirements and is verified by the Mesa County Sheriff for obtaining a Concealed Handgun Permit.

Reloading rifle and pistol cartridges are an enjoyable and safe pastime. There are many good reasons why people reload their own ammunition. In this course, participants will learn the basics of reloading procedures; information about choosing powders,
primers, and bullets; different types of reloading equipment and their proper setup and operation, as well as trouble shooting when things don’t go as expected. The last class session will be devoted to actual reloading of cartridges. This is an NRA Certificate course. There is a materials fee to cover an NRA book and other materials.

Grow, and Go Pro: Horticulture with Rabbits, Fish, and More!
This camp offers a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of sustainable horticulture. Emphasis is placed on soil chemistry and microbiology, composting methodologies, containerized plant systems, and the ecological integration of small livestock such as Oryctolagus cuniculus (rabbits) and aquaculture species.
