of the DoubleTree by Hilton for the 29th annual Thornton Business Appreciation Awards, which recognizes those area businesses that distinguished themselves in 2015. After an introduction from John Cody of the Thornton Economic Development Office, second-term Thornton Mayor Heidi Williams kicked off festivities by providing a detailed outline of new developments in 2015 and things to come this year and beyond.

“I want to thank you for coming out tonight and thank the businesses of Thornton who contribute so much to the economic prosperity and wellbeing of our community,” Williams said. “Your contributions are a key part of what makes our community unique and special, and provides the foundation for us all to grow and flourish.” Following Williams was a speaker Awards continues on Page 8

Friends say Tuttle was a ‘gentle, caring’ man Locals look back on longtime area philanthropist, volunteer and entrepreneur By Jeremy Johnson jjohnson@coloradocommunitymedia.com Locals who knew longtime county and community advocate Gary Tuttle felt shocked and saddened by the news of the Northglenn resident’s death April 8 from pancreatic cancer. Tuttle died peacefully Tuttle at his home surrounded by family and friends, including his wife, Debbie Tuttle, Northglenn’s economic development manager. A memorial service was held April 21 at the Broomfield United Methodist Church. Gary Tuttle’s community connections ran deep, with the veteran career and business consultant and all-around Adams County “champion” lending time to and serving on the Westminster Rotary Club, the Metro North Chamber of Commerce, Adams County Economic Development, the Adams County Housing Authority, Broomfield Planning Commission and more. Tuttle was a member of numerous charitable and support-oriented clubs and groups throughout Adams County. “He was a great volunteer for any number of different functions that came up from time to time...,” said former Westminster resident Ron Schaefer. “Be it membership drives or political action
