PINWHEELS ON DISPLAY TO MAKE A POINT
Detective Cheri Ells with the Wheat Ridge Police Department holds up some of the pinwheels that the department has put on display to help raise awareness about Child Abuse Prevention Month. The department will be supporting Ralston House by planting a pinwheel garden outside her city hall. The 2018 fundraising goal for the Ralston House Pinwheel project is $60,000 and the $5 sales of individual pinwheels go to support the services Ralston House provides children and their families. “Bright blue pinwheels are a symbol of child abuse prevention awareness across the nation and serve as a beacon of hope for children, youth and adult survivors of child abuse in our community,” stated Detective Cheri Ells. Anyone who wants to support this month’s fundraising for Ralston House can stop by a participating organization, such as Wheat Ridge City Hall, to make a $5 donation and receive a pinwheel, or go online to www.ralstonhouse.net/child-abuse-prevention-month. Community members are also encouraged to use the hashtag #PassthePinwheel and change their profile pictures to one taken with a pinwheel this month to help raise awareness and funds. THE BOTTOM LINE PERIODICAL
“We are looking at two enormous funding challenges — a 30 year statewide crisis and a 15 year Jeffco crisis. I’m a little intimidated by that.” Jefferson County School District Board member Amanda Stevens | P2 INSIDE
