Rickoli brewing up big plans Wheat Ridge craft brewer hopes to expand locally and distribute nationally By Amy Thomson Special to CCM Brewing Rickoli has a plan to expand operations. “Now, we just have to execute it,” long-time brewer and owner Rick Abitbol said.
Abitbol, who has been brewing and serving beer in a cozy location on 44th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard, is dreaming of adding a new tap room — fit to serve, brew and bottle beer. And he’s already got a location in mind. The old U-Pump-It building on 38th and Kipling is ripe for renovation, he said. “The structure it sound. I had an architect look at it and he said ‘Wow, we could build off of this.’ ” Abitbol and his wife, Jaqua, have been running Brewing Rickoli on their own

By Christy Steadman csteadman@coloradocommunitymedia.com Goldenites and visitors will soon have a new way to cruise around town when the Golden Bike Library is launched this summer. “Experiencing Golden on a bike is one of the most fun and efficient ways,” said Jenifer Doane, who works in the city’s community and economic development department. “On two wheels, it is a lot of fun.” Partnering with the Golden Visitor’s Center, the Golden Optimists, RTD, the Jefferson County public health department and several Golden bike shops, the city will launch its bike library on June 22 — when the state celebrates Bike to Work Day. Westminster councilman faces uphill battle in race Baker admits obstacles, both from incumbent congressman and from his own party By Jeremy Johnson jjohnson@coloradocommunitymedia.com Westminster City Councilman Bruce Baker, saying he offers an “alternative to cardboard politicians,” is running on the GOP ticket against popular Congressman Ed Perlumutter in the 7th Congressional District race this November. “Elections should be — not that they are — a chance to offer voters alternatives,” said Baker, Baker a retired pharmacist who was elected to Westminster City Council in November 2013. “A lot of times … there aren’t really any alternatives being offered. Nothing new is ever offered. But in this campaign, I intend to offer the voters true choices.” Perlmutter Based on past election challenges to the seat, campaigning will be no easy feat against Perlmutter, a Democrat who first served in the state Senate from 1993 to 2003. Perlmutter has represented the 7th Congressional District since 2006 and most recently won re-election to the U.S. House in 2014, when he handily defeated Republican Don Ytterberg in the general election by more than 25,000 votes.
