Lynn Stewart came from Boulder to play her fiddle, and Nancy Atkins doesn’t play an instrument
but came to the Brew on Broadway July 16 to listen, because both women love Celtic music. Stewart said she’s listened to Celtic music all her life. “I began Irish dancing in the ‘90s; I would hear the music in dance class and wanted to learn to play those tunes,” she said. “I picked up a fiddle, someone showed me what to do and I started playing. It is a lot of fun. Celtic musicians are like a family. We
know each other and enjoy getting together to play our music.” Atkins, who lives in Parker, said a friend told her there were musicians playing Celtic music each Thursday at the Englewood pub so she came to hear them. “It is such great music,” she said with a smile. “These people are not a band but they really play well together and it is so much fun to be here to listen to them.” John Hammer, who founded

There is no playlist of songs. Someone will start to play a tune and the other musicians just join in.” The weekly gathering of Celtic musicians is at the Brew on Music continues on Page 4

Members of Leftover Salmon and Breckenridge Brewery raise a toast July 18 at the brewery’s 25th Annual Hootenanny and first at the brewery’s new home in Littleton on Santa Fe Drive, south of Denver Seminary. Hundreds attended the all-day music festival and pig roast, a bout of afternoon rain not withstanding. Local band Leftover Salmon, also celebrating 25 years together, joined the party as headliners, and the brewery rolled out a special Silver Salmon brew in the band’s honor that included access to 25 of the band’s live tunes.
