Gala honors Englewood businesses Chamber names winners of annual awards By Tom Munds tmunds@coloradocommunitymedia.com Engineering Dynamics received the Lifetime Business Achievement Award and Chick-fil-A was named Business

of the Year by the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce at its annual gala held March 28 at the Englewood Elks Club. Three other awards were presented. Café 180 was named Community Organization of the Year, Miguel Corral of El Tep was named Chamber Member of the Year, and Breakfast Queen was named Emerging Business of the year.

Engineering Dynamics was started in the basement of Howard and Shirley McGregor in 1972. The company grew and moved to its present location at 3925 S. Kalamath St. in 1980. The Englewood Recreation Center hummed with conversation about the library, parks and recreation facilities, and programs during the city’s March 31 master plan open house. “We are hoping a lot of our residents will join us today and tell us what they like about the library, parks and recreation,” Dorothy Hargrove, director of library, parks and recreation, said. “We would like to hear about the experiences, good and bad, our residents have had when they came to the library, went to one of the parks or signed up for one of the recreation programs.” She said the open house is to collect comments and information to be used to update the 10-year-old parks and recreation master plan. “When it is completed, we want the new master plan to be a road map for us,” Hargrove said. “We want to use it to determine future development or redevelopment of our parks. We also want to use it to plan programs and amenities for the next 10 years.” At the open house, boards were set up around two of the rooms at the recreation center. Each board focused on a single subject such as the library, the
