Neighbors express concerns over homes Six duplex units would be built on Quincy Avenue
By Tom Munds tmunds@coloradocommunitymedia.com Metropolitan Residential Advisors, the developers proposing a plan to build homes on the empty lot at 1296 W. Quincy Ave., held a neighborhood meeting Dec. 29 and heard area residents raise concerns about the number of proposed housing units as well as traffic issues.
Footprints in snow lead to man’s arrest
Michael Warren, development manager for the project, explained the proposal to about 20 people who attended the meeting. Near the end of the hour-long session, Warren said the company heard the comments and will try to take what they learned from the meeting and consider making feasible changes to the proposal as the process to seek city approval for the development moves forward. The proposal is to build six duplex units on the site. Each two-story home would have three bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms and a three-car attached garage.
The price range would be $375,000 to $425,000. “Our company wants to build a project that will enhance the neighborhood,” Warren said. “This site has challenges including its shape, size and the fact the site is part of a transition between an industrial area and a residential area.” He completed his presentation and opened the meeting to comments from those who live in the area. Nancy Baker, a neighbor, said this is the third development proposal for the area.
“The previous plan that was denied by the city council was for 11 houses,” she said. “I don’t see how a 12-house project will fly.” Jim Svigel Jr., who lives in the area, said he was very concerned that if the project was built, it would vastly increase the traffic on Quincy Avenue. “The project under construction at Oxford and Windermere is 230 units, and I am concerned what the traffic from these two projects will do to the traffic on

Suspect was sought in connection with burglary
By Tom Munds tmunds@coloradocommunitymedia.com A man was tracked down and arrested Jan. 8 after police investigating a smashand-grab burglary followed the suspect’s footprints in the snow to an apartment building, where they were able to locate and arrest him without incident. “We are not releasing any details about the man who was arrested because our detectives are working with officers from several other jurisdictions to determine if this suspect might have been involved the smash-and-grab burglaries in their communities,” said Kevin Sage, Englewood Police investigator. “Since this in an ongoing investigation, we are not even releasing the suspect’s age.” Englewood officers were called about 1:50 a.m. Jan. 8 to respond to a burglar alarm at a business in the 900 block of East Hampden Avenue. Officers found the business had been broken into and burglarized. Police attempted to follow the footprints of the possible burglar that were leading away from the business, but the trail ended. However, the officers then answered another alarm call in the Burglary continues on Page 5
