A public meeting will be conducted to inform citizens and soliciting public input, written or oral, regarding the City of Fort Lupton Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Conversion to Lift Station Preliminary Design Report (PDR). The PDR is a detailed engineering analysis to convert the 28-year-old WWTP to a lift station and force main connection to the METRO WWTP. The report is being submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to qualify the City for a State Revolving Fund Loan. The PDR presents Basic Engineering Design Data and details for the new lift station to be installed at the City’s WWTP and the force main to be constructed from the City’s WWTP to the METRO WWTP in Brighton, CO. Currently, the WWTP is at 1.6 million gallons per day (mgd) with a rated capacity of 2.75 mgd. The City evaluated the cost of required upgrade improvements to the WWTP and long term regulatory improvements. It has been determined that regionalizing our wastewater treatment with
the METRO District is in the City’s long term interest. It is estimated that the capital costs for the transition to a lift station and force main will require continuation of the Reg 85 additional fee to monthly wastewater bills (currently $20 per month per Single Family Equivalent (SFE)).
