The project consists of expanding pumping capacity at two of the District’s irrigation facilities. Work at the District’s Horizontal Collector Well (HCW) facility includes resetting two existing vertical turbine pumps into currently empty pump bays and installing two additional vertical turbine pumps with associated discharge piping in preparation for the 2023 irrigation season, followed by associated variable speed drive electrical equipment in preparation for the 2024 irrigation season. Work at the District’s Landmark Irrigation Pump Station includes refurbishing existing low-zone impellers for use in two currently empty high-zone pump bays that will require new motors, soft starts and station piping in advance of the 2023 irrigation season. The pump installation work at the HCW facility will require a pump installation contractor licensed in the State of Colorado with experience in the installation and testing of high horsepower, high pumping rate line shaft turbine equipment. Expedited procurement of long lead electrical equipment, pumps and motors will be required to meet the District’s scheduling objectives. Once the initial procurement has been initiated, the selected Contractor will manage the procurement process and collaborate with the Owner and Engineer in the completion of the design, establishment of construction phasing strategies and the development of a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for recommendation to the District’s Board of Directors. Of critical importance to the success of the project will be the Contractor’s role in the management and mitigation of cost and schedule risk throughout the project’s duration. If the GMP is approved by the District’s Board, a contract amendment will be executed that will initiate the construction phase of the project and establish the Contractor in the role of General Contractor for the subsequent completion of the project and final acceptance by the District.
