7 As for the workshop activities, work was based on stories they brougth, to get information on concepts, which serve as input to begin work with identity. With this information they started a process with swatches of woven textures, that then were processed in the following classes worked and they made sketches that later became a collection of vests to be woven by the group. Results and conclusions It is worth noticing the positive influence of having worked with a group and going to their work space, which allowed us greater integration. For the teachers, going out of the classrooms and meeting other kind of populations in their settings, posed a major challenge regarding training and approach. These reach out projects that directly establish contact with reality are vital. This kind of experiences helps to continue building an institution that can be thought as a real and active agent of change in this society.

Introdução A Incubadora Tecnológica de Cooperativas Populares da Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei (ITCP/UFSJ) é um programa de extensão que teve início em 1999 e tem como objetivo, dentre outros, inserir setores marginalizados socialmente na economia formal. A ITCP/UFSJ é constituída por alunos e professores de diversas áreas que atuam no processo de incubação, ou seja, na formação de conhecimentos sobre economia solidária, acompanhamento e orientação aos chamados coletivos de trabalho.
