owntown Solvang was awash with Christmas cheer and Hollywood flair as the latest edition of the Julefest Parade was held on Dec. 2, kickstarting the more-thanmonthlong holiday celebration. This year parade organizers picked the theme of "My Favorite Christmas Movie" and many of the sponsored floats showed their inspiration. Parade-goers saw several holiday film staples represented throughout the parade, which totaled 44 entries. There were a couple "Grinches." There were two floats styled after "The Polar Express." Solvang Spice Merchants rode by displaying a scene from the Island of Misfit Toys in "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Summerset Farms of Santa Ynez rode a vintage firetruck with a cutout of Clark Griswald from "Christmas Vacation," and even a gentleman dressed like Cousin Eddie was spotted elsewhere in the parade.
