“I’ve been coming here for a few years now and have always had a great experience.
They are incredibly responsive. I can’t recommend these guys enough! A+++”
Ted R. Paso Robles, CAWelcome to our special edition of Paso Robles Magazine, which is dedicated to showcasing the Best Of North SLO County as voted by our readers. We are excited to present the winners of our annual Best Of Readers Poll, highlighting the businesses and individuals that make our community shine.
Celebrating the Best Of North SLO County is a chance for us to unite and demonstrate our support for the local establishments that form the heart of our community. Living in a small town offers a unique sense of connection — knowing our neighbors by name, seeing familiar faces around town, and feeling a true sense of belonging.
Supporting our community is paramount, and one of the most impactful ways to do so is by shopping local and championing small businesses. These enterprises are the lifeblood of our local economy, fostering growth, creating jobs, and infusing our town with distinct character.
For us, raising our kids here and running a business that supports communities along the coast means they are surrounded by people who genuinely care for their well-being. Our neighbors aren't just neighbors — they are family. It's a place where kids can enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood, exploring and playing freely without constant worry.
Caring for our community involves more than just economic support; it's about actively engaging in its preservation and enhancement. Whether it is volunteering at local events, participating in clean-up efforts, or preserving our rich history through the support of museums and landmarks, each action contributes to the vitality of our town.
Living in a small town means being part of a larger tapestry, where each of us plays a role in maintaining its beauty and character. It's a fulfilling way of life, one that brings joy and satisfaction to our everyday experiences.
As you read through the stories within this Best Of North SLO County special edition, we hope you will be inspired by the dedication and passion of the featured businesses and individuals. Their commitment not only earned them a place in these pages but also enriches the fabric of our community.
To our readers who took the time to vote and share feedback and to our dedicated team who made this issue possible, we extend our heartfelt gratitude.
Supporting our community is a privilege we all share, and it is through collective efforts that we can preserve its charm for generations to come. Thank you for choosing local, for giving back, and for being exemplary neighbors. Together, we can continue to uphold the essence and allure of our hometown.
We hope you enjoy this special edition of Paso Robles Magazine.
Hayley and Nic Mattson — Thomas Fuller, 1727This month’s edition of Paso Robles Magazine is brought to you by all the local advertisers that fill our pages. Thanks to them, we are able to bring you your local Hometown Magazine.

During this month, we have an abundance of occasions to recognize. Not only are we heading into the last month of the first quarter of 2024, but we will be messing with our clocks again, enjoying the color emerald, welcoming in a new energetic season, visiting the Easter Bunny downtown, and enjoying Easter and all its blessings.
March 10 starts Daylight Savings Time. In 1874, Benjamin Franklin wanted to save daylight for citizens to rise at the crack of dawn to begin work and save on the expense of candlelight. C.S. Lewis said, “The future is something which everyone reaches at the same rate of 60 minutes an hour no matter what he does or who he is.”
March 17, America turns into an emerald country for a day to honor St. Patrick. Clothes, beer, milkshakes, bagels, grits, and even the Chicago River have turned emerald green since 1955 to pay tribute to this day. Remember, you never iron a four-leaf clover; you don’t want to press your luck! May the luck of the Irish
always be with you.
Happy First Day of Spring! Tuesday, March 19, we celebrate the Spring (Vernal) Equinox as it arrives when the sun crosses the celestial equator and we get more daylight. Since we just got an extra hour on the 10th, we’re heading into those special long daylight hours that continue to grow until the Autumnal Equinox on Sept. 22.
“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: When it is summer in the light and winter in the shade” — Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
The Downtown Main Street Association has invited the Easter Bunny to come to the Holiday House in the City Park on Saturday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The children line up to visit while parents take special pictures. Where else does this happen? In Paso, it’s tradition!
“I still believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and true love. Don’t even try to tell me different.” — Dolly Parton
March 25 debuts our March full moon, called the Worm Moon, because of the worm trails that appear in the newly thawed ground. As the moon, the earth, and the sun go through their orbital dance and we get to see the beauty of the sun’s illumination on the

moon, indicating that we’re transitioning from winter to spring.
March 31 is Easter Sunday. Easter appears on the first Sunday after the full moon, which follows the Spring (Vernal) Equinox. May your Easter basket be filled with joy, happiness, and peace this season and always.
As you move forward in 2024, consider joining your Paso Robles Downtown Main Street Association. The dues are minimal — it’s not about the money, it’s about your support for one of the oldest, most traditional, hard working organizations in Paso Robles. We support this town in so many ways: We have a kiosk at the corner of 12th and Park streets full of up-to-date brochures on local businesses (with contact information) of all kinds. Wine maps for the entire region, including downtown. Main Street Directory (purple) is full of information on businesses throughout Paso and a lineup of events for the year downtown. Stop by and pick up this current information for free.
Our office is open seven days a week. Stop by and pick up current magazines, newspapers, and local information. We’re at 835 12th Street #D in the Alley. You can call us at (805) 238-4103.

Twelve years ago, we were looking for a place to open a store. We had plans (sell local goods!) and hopes (people will walk through the doors ... maybe even more than one at a time!) Like all people starting a business, we also had needs (make enough to pay our rent and maybe a little to pay ourselves) and terrors (what if people don’t understand what we’re trying to do?) Or, as I like to say when I’m overwhelmed, “What if no one comes to our party?!”
So many years later, to be named Best Overall Shopping and Retail in the North County feels like the best hug in the world. We deeply appreciate your trust, your enthusiasm, and your willingness to step offline and into the real-life doors of an actual, old school store. That you’ve come to our party over and over again, and had a good time ... it’s the happiest feeling as a shop owner. We’ve always tried to offer a place where people can feel that special Paso vibe while also finding something lovely, tasty, or useful to take home with them but none of that matters without people making that choice to drive or walk downtown to skip Amazon and choose their
neighbors and friends instead.
To that end, there are just so many friends, neighbors, makers, employees, spouses, city officials, UPS and FedEx drivers, french fry providers, ribbon manufacturers, tech support experts, and more that keep us going. Thank you, guys, for keeping us fueled and running and stocked and staffed.
Most of all, thank you, customers. For bringing us honey from your hives, and scones on a wintry Tuesday. For writing us thank you notes for helping you with gift baskets (shouldn’t it be the other way around?) and See’s Candy, and updates on your pooch. For taking the time to say you like the new sign outside, or that you feel safe in our store, or that you went out of your way to buy your latest cookbook from us. Thank you for grooving to Steely Dan while you’re looking at the sweets table.
We love our work, and the people we do that work with that have become our chosen family. Thanks for the kudos; it means a ton ... I hope we’ll see you walk through our doors soon.

Up the hill on 10th Street, near the Highway 101 overpass, Dos Hermanos offers an extensive menu of Mexican favorites at 1010 K St. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. They are open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call them at (805) 467-2460.

San Miguel Market and Deli, on the corner of Mission and 13th streets, is well-stocked with groceries and features a fresh meat counter. They also have a take-out counter from which to choose fresh, tasty, cooked Mexican food favorites. Ryan Mhassen recently purchased the store at 1299 Mission St., renaming it Mission Market, Liquor and Deli. He is doing extensive refurbishment inside, stocking shelves with new merchandise, and expects to reopen the deli by early summer. Now, let’s check into the library.
The San Miguel Library has been located in the old Justice Court building at 254 13th St.
by the park for many years. I well remember choosing books there; I’d get lost in reading them. Librarian Grant Thompson is personable and helpful. There are more than just books in a library. San Miguel offers CDs and DVDs, state and county park passes, board games, sewing machines, and more. There are special events for special times, like Spring Break this month. On March 16, adults and teens are encouraged to come at 1 p.m. to make marbled Easter eggs in beautiful swirled colors.
The library will supply the eggs and everything else necessary. The March 16 regular Workshop Wednesday project from 1 to 3 p.m. is “Balloon Racers.” The next day’s Workshop project from 1 to 3 p.m. will be “Magnetic Slime.” Every Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. is “Library Dog” time when children read to Emil, a dog provided by “Paws to Read” from Cambria. Every Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. is Lego Club. Library hours are Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 1 to 5 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Happy Easter!

We are Jimmy & Leigh-Ann of Shift’N Gears Garage, an ASE Master Certified full-service auto repair shop. We are here to offer some monthly tips, tricks, and tales from the automotive industry. Whether you are fellow gearheads, garage aficionados, or maybe you think about blinker fluid (Hint, Hint, you don’t have any blinker fluid), we are here for you.
Green with Envy: Famous Shamrock Shades to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day: Colors are making a comeback with new cars — and we are all here for it. Let’s look at some of the most iconic shades of green in the auto industry that have influenced the many variations we see today.
British Racing Green: Arguably the most recognizable green in the automotive industry, dating back to the early 1900s, the 1950s Jaguar D-Type might come to mind first and has been used on Aston Martin, Jaguar & Mini, just to name a few. The classic combination of British Racing Green with a tan interior even has a cult following with multiple Instagram accounts.
Viper Green: Viper Green
originated as a factory option for the 1972 Carrera RS 2.7. This bright, eye-catching color has since returned to the Porsche palette for the 911 GT3 and 911 GT2, contrasting well with the optional carbon-fibre accents of the modern motorsport models. Porsche has clearly influenced the rest of the Volkswagen Group, with Viper Green being a popular choice as either a factory or special-order finish for various models under the Audi, Lamborghini and Volkswagen brands.
Dark Highland Green: This forest shade of green is a hallmark for Ford. A Mustang featured in the 1968 film Bullitt, driven by the one-and-only Steve McQueen was Dark Highland Green. Since the original movie car, Ford has released three generations of Mustangs in this color, making it a sought-after, nostalgic color choice for move and vehicle buffs alike.
Sublime Green: This eye-searing lime green was first introduced on various Dodge models in the 1970s. Best known for its use on the Charger and Challenger models. This exotic green color has seen a second resurgence in popularity in 2019 in the luxury import market of the Middle East.
In the rhythmic world of dance and the serene realm of yoga, Vanessa Salas Orr has walked a transformative path from a dance student to a visionary and community leader. Her journey, from the dance floor to the yoga mat, has taken unexpected turns, shaping her into not only a certified yoga instructor and business owner but also a published author with a heartwarming story to share.
Vanessa’s immersion into dance and culture began at the age of four, navigating between ballet, tap, and jazz. Growing up in the mining community of Globe, Arizona, she attended the local celebrations of rich Hispanic and Apache cultures. Her performances with a local dance company graced stages beyond her hometown, including Disneyland, igniting a passion for combining dance and culture.
As an adult, Vanessa completed her teaching credential with a focus on multicultural and multilingual students while minoring in dance. She taught in public school classrooms in Arizona and San Francisco. Pouring her heart into teaching, she absorbed valuable lessons from inspiring mentors. However, the
demanding nature of the profession led to a seven-year itch, propelling her to explore new horizons.
Leaving education behind, Vanessa discovered her calling as a yoga instructor. Beginning with hot yoga for adults, she soon realized her heart belonged to teaching children. Armed with a kids’ yoga certification, she embarked on a journey to create meaningful connections with young minds, introducing yoga programs to schools in San Francisco and Paso Robles. She realized that she could combine her love for children with movement and the flexibility to be creative in how she taught.
Inspired by a special nickname given to her by her niece “Yaya,” Vanessa founded Yaya Yoga ca. Starting with adult classes, she later developed a unique approach to children’s classes, emphasizing parent participation. The classes focus on creating a bond of safety and love, away from daily life distractions, incorporating active playfulness, music, singing, movement, and stillness.
“All classes include yoga and breath work. Bare feet offer physiological and neurological benefits, connecting the foot base up to brain transmitters,” Vanessa explains. “Grounding with the earth, releasing toxins, and getting the current from the earth serve as the base for dancing and yoga.”
Vanessa teaches a variety of yoga, music, movement, and dance classes for kids of all ages for the Paso Robles Recreation Services Department as well as the Class Act Dance studio. Vanessa is actively involved in mindfulness programs, including partnerships with the Mindful Life Project and the Georgia Brown Mindful Classroom. These initiatives, supported by special grants, extend the impact of her teachings beyond the physical.
Vanessa’s most recent accomplishment was publishing “Calm McYogi’s Farm,” a fun and interactive yoga book for children and their caregivers. After her second-grade teacher told her that she was a talented writer, Vanessa knew she wanted to be an author. She began creating children’s books at a young age, binding them with yarn and a hole punch. The thought of authoring and publishing a children’s book as an adult gave her feelings of nostalgia, love, and pride, but also some nerves. After her first-grade son wrote and published his own book as a classroom project she thought “What am I waiting for?” She already had the story in her head as it was the very program that she used as the structure for her kids’ yoga classes. Her book, recently translated into Spanish, is available to purchase at Darma Yoga Loft, Saunter Yoga, Patch Thrift Boutique, The General Store Paso Robles, and Amazon.
Vanessa’s journey is a testament to the power of embracing change and following one’s passions. Her story inspires us to listen to our inner calling and create a life of purpose and joy. Follow
On February 8, the Paso Robles wine community came together to celebrate a couple who embodies the essence of Paso Robles Wine Country through exceptional leadership and foresight. Alex and Monica Villicana, proprietors of Villicana Winery and Re:Find Distillery, were honored as the 2023 Paso Robles Wine Industry Persons of the Year during our Annual Gala.
Since their inaugural vintage in 1993, Alex and Monica Villicana have been unwavering advocates for the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area (AVA), its wines, inhabitants, and camaraderie. Establishing Villicana Winery while residing and working in Pasadena, the Villicanas commuted for six years to plant their vineyard and cultivate their wines. Following the birth of their second child in 2001, they made the decision to permanently relocate to Paso Robles, establishing a tasting room on their property off Adelaida Road and raising their family within the Paso community. They persist in crafting estate wines from the vines they personally nurtured.
In a commitment to enhance sustainability in winemaking, the Villicanas initiated the region's inaugural distillery, Re:Find Distillery, in 2011. The distillery's inception aimed to repurpose the valuable saignèe typically discarded by wineries, transforming it into premium grape-based spirits. During the 2022 harvest, Re:Find successfully salvaged the equivalent of grapes from a 70-acre vineyard that would have otherwise been wasted. This substantial
conservation effort not only preserves resources such as fuel, water, and labor but also fosters a new facet of beverage tourism in Paso Robles, contributing to the region's allure.
“We are truly honored to be recognized by our peers in the Paso wine industry,” said Monica and Alex Villicana. “We are humbled to be included among such an incredible group of past recipients who have all done so much for the region. Our fellow vintners are not only our peers, they are friends with the common
goal of making great products, supporting an amazing community, and promoting Paso Robles.”
Alex has held positions on several industry-related boards, showcasing his dedication to the wine and distillery community. Currently, he provides a winery and distillery perspective as the vice chair of the County Planning Commission, serving as the sole vintner on the board in decades. Additionally, he holds positions on the boards of Travel Paso, where he serves as chairman, and the California
Distillers Association, where he acts as president. Previously, Alex has contributed his expertise to boards such as the PRWCA, where he served as both vice chair and chair, the Wine Institute, the Paso Robles Distillery Trail which he founded and presided over, and the Twin Cities Hospital Board of Governors.
Monica currently holds the position of vice president/ treasurer at the Paso Robles Distillery Trail, of which she is a founding member. Since its establishment in 2015, she
and/or Alex have been actively involved in various capacities on this board each year. Additionally, Monica serves on the board of Project Zozu and contributes to the PRWCA’s Marketing Committee. Her commitment extends to initiatives like Art for Children, where she is a founding member, bringing art curriculum to Templeton students, and the Far Out Wineries, during a time when the Adelaida/Vineyard corridors were less traversed. Monica is deeply invested in nurturing the next generation,
particularly by advocating for the hiring, training, and mentorship of Cal Poly students, guiding them towards fulfilling careers within and beyond the industry, aligning with their individual strengths and interests.
Together, Alex and Monica epitomize the essence of Paso Wine Country – their ingenuity, innovation, benevolence, and innate leadership qualities make them exemplary figures in the community. It is with great enthusiasm that we bestow this honor upon them.
Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend with the entire family in a production you’ll remember for the rest of your lives! This marks the region’s first full-scale Disney musical: perfect for all ages featuring expansive sets and costumes, dance, chorus, a nationally acclaimed leading cast led by Hilary Maiberger as Belle (national and international tours) and Grant Garry (Beast), all accompanied by the OperaSLO Grand Orchestra!
The organization called Wineries of 46 East tagline touts: “Take your senses for a ride.” That ride of winery visits can take you not just along the highway, but circles around the scenic hillsides and backroads to San Miguel.
Thanks to its annual Esprit du Vin, a wine and food event staged by a group of wineries of the 46 East, the spirit of wine happens under one roof. Ignoring a rainy night, the 21st annual soirée on February 3 brought aficionados to the expansive Riboli Events Center to savor the east-side experience.
Before the event, I revisited the wines of the Riboli Family with head winemaker Marty Spate, who gave us a tour of the winery adjacent to the Events Center.
“This was once an open field,” Spate commented on the state-of-the-art, solar energy-powered, SIP-certified winery that opened in 2016. We walked through the barrel room holding 6,000 neatly stacked barrels and the fermentation space equipped with 108 shiny tanks.
With over a century of winemaking experience, four generations of the Riboli family continue their legacy with third-generation Steve Riboli as CEO and fourth-generation Anthony Riboli as winemaker. An annual case production ranging between 130,000-140,000 cases, both luxury and premium wines, are produced here from the family’s estate vineyards in the Paso Robles AVA, Monterey County, and Napa Valley.
Spate conducted a tasting of wines from the San Simeon portfolio, the richly textured 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (black label) aged for 24 months in new French oak and the 100 percent barrel-aged 2021 Chardonnay expressing an elegant layer of oak. The Napa Valley Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon was another outstanding wine at a friendly price of $65.
From the Opaque series we tasted the 2020 earthy Tannat and the 2019 Darkness’s, the Zinfandel and Petit Verdot-driven blend.
The Wineries of 46 East concept was spearheaded by Gary Eberle and Tobin James to bring awareness to the east side of Paso, explained Audrey Arellano, the organization’s president: “Our members are wineries and hospitality east of the 101 freeway and San Miguel is included.”
There was an impressive selection of some 30-plus wines offered by 16 wineries. Although I must add a good number of wines I savored were produced from westside vineyards. However, it’s not uncommon for Paso winemakers to blend grapes from both east and west, especially when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon and Paso’s signature eclectic blends.
“I’m on the east side so I’m very supportive,” commented Edgar Torres, owner/winemaker of Bodega de Edgar. Specializing in Spanish varieties, Torres has two wineries, one on each side of town.
The lineup of five wines he offered were all from the westside, mostly from the steep Paper Street Vineyard that straddles westside’s Willow Creek and Adelaida districts.
“The attraction of vineyards on the westside is that you have more diversity, steep hillsides and sun exposure,” Torres said. However, he does source Cabernet Franc from the east side.
Torres offered the 2021 Gracias Blanco Torrontes, which was barrel-aged for two years giving the wine a richness on the palate. The 2020 Toro del Paso blend of Tempranillo and Graciano with a touch of Merlot for herbaceousness. The 2019 Gracias, a blend of Graciano and Carignan in the Priorat style and the 2019 Gran Reserva Tempranillo barrel-aged for three years and bottle-aged for another three.
Newcomers to Paso, Dina and Jeff Hevert of Vinyl Vineyards presented their fragrant
strawberry-laced 2022 Rosé of Mourvèdre and Grenache sourced from Templeton Gap. A well-knit Bordeaux blend was equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
Pear Valley, renowned for growing a whopping 28 grape varieties, offered a lineup of four wines: the 2022 Viognier, 2019 Petite Sirah, and two 2020 vintages — a pomegranate fragrant Aglianico and a Bordeaux blend, the latter containing all six varieties including Carmenere.
At Vina Robles, I found their signature crowd pleasers Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon; from Robert Hall, the 2019 Cavern Select Cabernet Sauvignon showing finegrained tannins and the 2020 GSM redolent of anise and lavender.
At the Allegretto table, I sampled the richly textured 2019 Tannat and the 2020 Heart of the Vine Bordeaux blend. Nearby, Brochelle’s raspberry-flecked 2021 Zinfandel paired well with honey goat cheese.
Other participating wineries included Broken Earth, Eberle, Tobin James, Four Sisters Ranch, Penman Springs, Riboli and Villa San Juliette. Many winery participants offered cheese pairings.
Paso’s popular entertainer Joy Bonner rocked the cavernous hall as guests enjoyed delicacies such as Maddelana Bistro’s lasagna, Stein’s BBQ’s pork tacos, Trattoria di Luca’s pizzas, Di Ramondo’s selection of cheeses and Jeffry’s Wine Country BBQ’s signature paella.
With a packed crowd on a rainy night, it was clear Esprit du Vin continues to be a successful event. Three of the four annual events staged by the Highway 46 East organization are fundraisers. However, Esprit du Vin’s “box office” supports the staging of the event.
“From our last event, [a Halloween Poker Run], we gave $10,000 to Zoo to You,” informed Arellano.
Riboli Creston vineyards. Photo courtesy of Riboli Family WinesMost people are unaware that we have a truly remarkable woman at the farmers market. All our farmers are amazing, but Debbie Paver, owner of Charter Oak Style Meats, has had a huge impact on our community and our state. Because of Debbie’s persistence, ranchers and farmers are allowed to sell individual cuts of meat at local farmers markets today, which was not always the case.
If you’ve ever tried to change state laws, you know it’s extremely difficult! Although it was a huge challenge, Debbie never gave up and was finally allowed to sell her individual cuts of meat at the markets starting in 1998 after 20 years of work to get there. This has allowed many other farmers to follow in her footsteps and provide the best local meats to our communities at the farmer’s markets. Because of Debbie’s persistence, farmers can sell to directly to you instead of only through retail locations.
On top of raising her own beef, pork, and lamb, Debbie works at a local large animal veterinary office and devotes a lot of time to our local 4-H groups to help with their livestock projects. If you are looking for some of the best locally raised beef, pork, and lamb, make sure to stop by Debbie’s Charter Oak Style Meats booth at the Templeton Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning.
If you are looking for in-season produce to pair with that delicious meat, here is what to look for:
Nathan from Aviator Acres said that he will have some burgundy broccolini this month. If you’re a lover of artichokes, he will also have those this month at his stand. I’m excited to add in some burgundy broccolini, orange carrots, leeks, radishes, and citrus to my dishes this month. It is always fun when we eat nutritious meals that are also so colorful.
If you need a quick, delicious, and nutritious meal, try out this beef and broccoli stir fry. I like to make my own sauce because it always tastes way better, but feel free to speed up dinner by using your favorite stir-fry or teriyaki sauce. I usually have ground beef on hand, but this is delicious with steak strips as well. I recently learned that leeks are so easy to use instead of onions and are delicious when chopped up and fried like onions for dishes like stir fry. Also, if you’re like me and love peanut sauce on your Asian dishes, try using The Groves on 41’s peanut butter olive oil! It’s so good, and you can even use it to make some delicious peanut butter cookies for dessert.
• 4 blocks Rice Ramen, or 3 cups veggie noodle, cooked (can sub cooked rice)
• 1 tbsp sesame oil, or
Ingredients
• ½ cup coconut aminos

4. Add the broccoli and carrots to the pan along with the 1/2 cup of water or broth. Cover the pan and let the veggies steam for 3-4 minutes until it is crisp tender.
5. Add the ground beef back to the pan along with the cooked ramen noodles (or rice). Add the stir fry sauce and toss everything together over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens a bit. Serve with extra red pepper flakes and green onions on top, if desired. Enjoy!

SESLOC is proud to be the longest-established credit union on the Central Coast, having celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2022. Their mission is to be the financial institution of choice and make a positive impact each day. By trade, SESLOC opens deposit accounts, funds loans, and helps local businesses grow. But in heart, they support one another in the moments that matter. People are why they are here. Community is what they do.
SESLOC's success is contributed to their long-standing effort in providing superior member service, great benefits, and in giving back to the community. Members are always greeted in the branch with a smile and treated like a person rather than a number. They also expanded member benefits in the last few years via their Level Up and SESLOC Local Rewards points programs, which help monthly budgets go further. Most importantly, their longevity and growth are possible because of their loyal members who place trust in them and share the value of the not-for-profit financial institution with their friends and family. They thank and appreciate the opportunity to serve the community.
To stay adaptive to change, it’s essential that they adhere to the credit union philosophy of People Helping People. They have invested significant resources to provide financial services and education for all — para todos — which includes serving young adults at Cal Poly, Cuesta, and Allan Hanock colleges, expanding Spanish language services
for the Hispanic population, and providing more options for those who are underbanked and rely on check cashing establishments. They remain focused on their members’ needs as they enhance convenience, accessibility, and security.
SESLOC Credit Union is located at 8380 El Camino Real in Atascadero. They can be reached at (805) 543-1816 for more information.

In 2010, Just Baked emerged from owner Libby Ryan and a single mom's determination to provide her son with the perfect birthday cake despite financial constraints. What began as a humble venture on her son's 10th birthday turned into a flourishing business, fueled by a growing demand for her delectable creations. Originally aspiring for law school, the trajectory of her life shifted when a friend persuaded her to invest in a brick-and-mortar establishment. This marked the genesis of Just Baked, a reality that exceeded her initial aspirations.
Now situated in the heart of Downtown Paso Robles, Just Baked boasts a flagship location, a testament to its continuous growth. The bakery takes pride in its exceptional staff, led by the talented pastry chef Whitnie Burke and the friendly front-of-house manager Emily Cockrum. Their commitment is to make every customer feel like the star of the show, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Jimmy and Shelly Zanoli, driven by a shared passion for wine, embarked on their winemaking journey with their project, Zanoli The couple, united in Paso Robles in 2008 and married in 2010, cultivate their love for food and wine, focusing on vineyards with Limestone and Calcareous soils in California's Central Coast.
Jimmy's winemaking roots trace back to 1998 when his father planted a vineyard in Templeton Gap District. After honing his skills at Bella Luna and Eberle Winery, Jimmy made a mark in the industry. Meanwhile, Shelly, inspired while working for hospitality giants like The Mission Inn and Four Seasons Hotel, took a leap to join Justin Vineyards and Winery in Paso Robles.
Seeking to advance their careers, the couple moved to Napa in 2012. Jimmy contributed his expertise to Heitz Wine Cellars, Sodaro Estate Winery, and Failla Wines, while Shelly excelled in event coordination and hospitality roles at various wineries.
In 2015, the opportunity arose for Jimmy to become the full-time winemaker at Bella Luna and launch Zanoli. The couple swiftly returned to Paso Robles, channeling their focus on crafting wines reminiscent of the Rhones from Cornas, France, with minimal intervention and using grapes from Limestone and Calcareous soils.
Their venture thrived, and in June 2018, they welcomed their son, Rocco James Zanoli. Jimmy and Shelly invite enthusiasts to savor
their wines and join them on their journey in the winemaking world, as they continue to explore and expand their offerings. This dedication to excellence and innovation is a testament to their passion for winemaking and their commitment to sharing their journey with others. For further details and to experience the essence of their work, visit zanoliwines.com.
We are ecstatic to receive the Best of White Wine award in North County. Thank you to everyone who voted for us! We can’t wait to share our 2 Chenin Blancs with you.
We chose Chenin Blancs because it is a middle ground between a Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc. When we started our brand in 2015, only a few producers made wine from this grape. We wanted to be a little outside of the box.
Why those sites?
Jurassic Park Vineyard is located in the sandy soils of Santa Ynez, planted in 1978, and is own-rooted; we look to source grapes from old vineyards as they tell a story of California’s wine history. This wine pairs beautifully with Oysters and Fish.
The Bailey Ranch Chenin is a dry-farmed, head-trained vineyard in the Adelaida District. Because it is dryfarmed, the wine has a lovely richness, making it more savory. We love to pair this one with prosciutto and melon.

In 2009, Jeremy S. Lansford and his wife moved to Paso Robles and bought the dental practice from Dr. John Davis. Though the building in Paso Robles has housed different dental practices for almost 70 years, Lansford Dental Group has been its current practice for the last 15.
"We are honored to carry the torch of excellence the practice has maintained," stated Lansford.
Landsford Dental Group is a state-of-the-art practice that embraces new technologies and materials to create a high-level experience for their patients while also leaning into taking the patient's quality of care to even higher levels.
"We are now one of the most technologically advanced practices in the area," Lansford added. "For example, we not only have digital X-rays that cut radiation exposure by 200% but also have artificial intelligence that scans the X-rays for changes in a patient's health as a tool and adjunct to the dentists' normal exam of the X-rays. We have CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) of crowns and onlays that allow the patient to receive their crowns on the same day. We are introducing 3D printing into the practice this year and continue to invest in the most current technologies to ensure our patients receive the best dentistry has to offer without losing the fundamental excellence of more traditional
analog dentistry."
At Lansford Dental Group, every patient is warmly welcomed and treated as an integral part of their extended family, highlighting their commitment to providing the pinnacle of dental care. You can find Landsford Dental Group at lansforddental. com, or call them at (805) 238-1441.

Everyone deserves a mentor. Someone who shows us how to be compassionate and confident. Someone who teaches us how to be leaders and shows true grit when life is tough, and times are lean. Since 1972, Mike Lemos has been this man for so many people.
From humble beginnings as a dairy farmer and rancher to being the leader of Lemos, Mike always says, “It is my name on the shingle, but it’s our people that get it done.”
Lemos Feed & Pet Supply has been family-owned and operated since day one. Along with Mike, his daughter Michelle, son-inlaw James, General Manager Paul Benedix, and others that have been with the company for years, all are hands on in day-to-day operations that allow the company to run like a well-oiled machine.
Over the past five decades, Lemos Feed & Pet Supply has grown to 14 locations and 98 employees strong from Carpinteria to Paso Robles and 11 of the stores include self-serve dog wash stations.
“We’ve been able to grow and expand because of the trust we have built with our customers,” says Mike. “They rely on us for excellent products, they understand the value we put into training our employees about all products and resources, and they appreciate the customer service you won’t find anywhere else. Our staff are personable, attentive, knowledgeable, they greet you with
a smile, and they carry your items out and load them in your car.”
Lemos is a place to call home, and that sense of family is what Mike has created. He’s poured his life into his work and Central Coast families, nonprofits, and pets are better off because of it.

Founded on the passion for family entertainment, Andy's Awesome Arcade is the brainchild of Grayson and Dirk Dole, the duo behind the well-loved Mr. Putters Putt Putt, which first opened its doors seven years ago. In 2022, an opportunity arose to acquire a diverse collection of arcade games, sparking the idea to establish Andy's Awesome Arcade in downtown Atascadero. After meticulous preparation of the games and space, the community embraced the new arcade. Grayson's commitment to restoring classic games to their original glory became a hallmark of the arcade, setting it apart as a haven for retro gaming enthusiasts.
Within a year, the arcade experienced significant growth, prompting a move to a larger location on El Camino in November. This relocation synergized seamlessly with Mr. Putters Putt Putt, consolidating both businesses in the same center. The expanded space facilitated the inclusion of almost 80 games and dedicated birthday party areas, further enhancing the family-friendly atmosphere.
Andy's Awesome Arcade prioritizes creating an easy and enjoyable experience for families, whether celebrating birthdays or simply relishing an afternoon of nostalgic gaming. The focus on customer feedback has led to a growth strategy centered around birthday party packages, promising exciting combinations of fun
between the Putt Putt and Arcade experiences. As Andy's Awesome Arcade continues to evolve, the North County community can anticipate more unique and joy-filled entertainment options from this beloved family-friendly establishment.

Founded as a nonprofit supporting the North County Christian School, the thrift store has flourished over the years under its mission to aid the less fortunate while sustaining educational excellence. With a decade of dedicated service, the staff has witnessed the business's evolution, expanding its reach from serving the unhoused to catering to those seeking resale treasures.
North County Christian Thrift's success is intertwined with the generosity of its community. The thriving business relies on the support of local residents who donate quality items, contributing to the store's growth and allowing it to serve as a retail haven for a diverse customer base.

Wild Fields Brewhouse was born out of a love of the craft brewing world, as was founder Ryan and Jacque Field's love story. They met through a brewer friend.
In starting their brewery, Ryan and Jacque founded Wild Fields on the spirit of community the industry is known for, like developing friendships and collaborative competition.
"This unique industry is truly a special one, and we are incredibly grateful to have a hand in shaping and providing a high-quality experience for our customers," stated Jacque.
Since the building that holds Wild Fields used to be Creekside Lanes bowling alley, it only makes sense that the Fields put roller ball lanes, arcade games, foosball, air hockey, and even a toddler corner in. So there's something for patrons of all ages to enjoy when they come by.
On top of being family-friendly, Wild Fields delivered award-winning, delicious craft beers and was the first independent brewery to win four Gold Medals at the World Beer Cup in 2022 and Brewery of the Year & Brewer of the Year at the Great American Beer Fest later that year.
"We feel truly blessed to be one of those "best-kept secrets" and a "surprisingly good" find in this Downtown Atascadero not for only
beyond the temporal. This commitment reflects a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of education, one that enriches not only the mind but also the soul, laying a foundation for a lifetime of learning and spiritual growth.
