North County celebrates Season of Giving and Thanksgiving

Giving back with festive fun runs and wrestlingthemed trots to heartfelt volunteer efforts and community meals

NORTH COUNTY —

As the holiday season arrives, North County is gearing up for a celebration of community, generosity, and togetherness.

From fun-filled Turkey Trots in Paso Robles and Atascadero to the long-standing Thanksgiving tradition in Paso Robles, residents of all ages have opportunities to give, share, and connect.

We have gathered some of North County’s favorite nonprofit fundraisers and events that start this Thursday. Now in its 41st year, Thanksgiving for Paso Robles continues to embody the heart and spirit of the community. Each year, more than 1,500 residents come together to share a warm, homemade Thanksgiving meal, free of charge and full of fellowship. This event welcomes everyone to the table, ensuring that no one spends the holiday alone.

Held at the Centennial Park Activity Center on Thursday, Nov. 27, the dining room will

TEMPLETON — The Templeton High football field will be a veritable Eagles nest on Friday night, Nov. 28, as the school’s football squad will compete for a CIF Central Section title, facing Immanuel High of Reedley, also known as the

Eagles, at 7 p.m.

While most folks will be picking through Thanksgiving leftovers and getting a head start on holiday shopping on Black Friday, players, coaches, parents, and fans of the Templeton High football team will be getting ready for the Division IV championship game, the first CIF title contest in school history, according to readily available records.

The contest is set up as an epic showdown: Templeton is the top seed of the division, while Immanuel is No. 2, and both squads boast 12-0 records going into the game.

The Eagles have stayed undefeated with two playoff wins (after a first-round bye), and will again enjoy playing in front of a home crowd for the section final

Head coach Don Crow’s Eagles made it to the title game after dominating North High of Bakersfield 41-0 in the semifinals on Nov. 21, avenging a 30-13 loss to the Stars in last year’s CIF playoffs.

Tyler Cunningham continued to lead Templeton’s ground game against North, rushing for 136 yards on 18 carries and an 82-yard run on the Eagles’ first series of the game. He also caught two passes for

20th anniversary celebration honors

PASO ROBLES — Paso Robles honored its historic connection to Ignacy Jan Paderewski earlier this month, marking both the world-renowned pianist’s 165th birthday and the 20th anniversary of the modern Paderewski Festival. The four-day celebration brought packed performances, youth showcases, and community gatherings that

organizers said reflected a strong post-pandemic resurgence.

Festival Board President Marjorie Hamon said this year felt especially meaningful.

“I’m honored to be able to be the president of this festival. I have the hardest working board that I’ve ever been involvedon,” she told Paso Robles Press. “I’m honored and I think being the 20th year, it was a very successful year for us. It’s been a tough haul coming back from COVID.”

Festivities opened Thursday afternoon, Nov. 6, at the Paderewski monument in Paso Robles City Park, where the Paso Robles High School

efforts aimed at reducing serious injuries and fatalities on local roadways. The grant will fund programs through September 2026.

Deputy Chief Caleb Davis said the funding will bolster the department’s ability to address dangerous driving behaviors through a combination of education and enforcement.

City Hall remodel prompts immediate changes to public access routes

The city of Paso Robles announced that new public access routes to City Hall and the library take effect immediately as construction continues on the City Hall renovation project. The changes are designed to maintain public access to services while keeping visitors safely separated from active construction areas.

Under the new layout, access to the Paso Robles Library and public restrooms is now available through the double doors facing 11th Street. Visitors needing City services will use the temporary public service counter, accessible through the double doors from the 10th Street parking lot. Through-access between the City Hall and library lobbies is suspended for the duration of construction.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 21, portions of the City Hall parking lot will also close to accommodate construction activity. The city has released a site plan to help direct visitors to the appropriate entrances.

Officials say the temporary pathways will ensure services remain fully operational while minimizing interactions between the public and construction crews. All phone numbers and email contacts for city departments remain the same.

This year’s Holiday Songbook includes a Black Out Bingo page, which participants can complete by visiting participating merchants through Dec. 7. A drawing on Sunday, Dec. 7, will award three cash shopping sprees redeemable through Dec. 24.

North County Nutcracker returns to Spanos Theatre for 29th Year

The North County Dance & Performing Arts Foundation (NCDPAF) will bring a cherished holiday tradition back to the stage as it presents its 29th annual ‘Nutcracker: A Storybook Ballet’ at Cal Poly’s Spanos Theatre the first weekend of December. Performances are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m.

This year’s production carries special significance with the return of Founder and Artistic Director Cheryle Armstrong, who has stepped out of retirement to guide more than 70 dancers from across San Luis Obispo County. Many performers are second-generation cast members, continuing a legacy that has shaped families and the local arts community for nearly three decades.

“The Nutcracker has always been a place where dancers discover themselves, where families build memories, and where the arts thrive,” said Armstrong. “To return after retirement from Class Act Dance and witness new and familiar faces step into these roles has been incredibly inspiring.”

Featuring custom costumes, original choreography, and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, the production highlights NCDPAF’s commitment to accessible, community-centered performing arts. Guest artists will also take part, bringing added professional depth to the timeless ballet.

Proceeds from the performances support NCDPAF’s mission to provide arts education, scholarships, and outreach programs for youth throughout North County.

Atascadero Cemetery announces updated flower policy and gravesite clean-up

The Atascadero Cemetery District has updated its flower policy and will begin a scheduled gravesite clean-up on Monday, Jan. 6, 2026. Signs will be posted at the cemetery, and the district is notifying the community so families are aware of the process.

The policy update and clean-up are necessary due to the excessive number of items being left on and around many gravesites. Families are encouraged to remove items and arrange flowers in accordance with the current policy before the clean-up date.

Key points of the updated Flower Policy include:

• Only flowers may be placed at gravesites in cemeteryprovided vases. Small American and/or military flags are allowed only near Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day.

Flowers (fresh, plastic, or silk) must go in installed vases on headstones; if no vase exists, flowers may be placeddirectly on the headstone. New burials (up to six months) may have flowers placed directly on the grave in the headstone area. Funeral floral pieces may remain temporarily after new burials but must be removed from vases. Funeral plants are not allowed.

• All items on or around headstones that do not conform to policy will be removed. Large or valuable items will be set aside for family pick-up, while small or inexpensive items may be discarded. Cemetery staff and volunteers are not responsible for any loss or breakage.

The district emphasizes that adherence to this policy ensures the cemetery remains safe, clean, and peaceful for visitors, while protecting cemetery staff, animals, and equipment.

Atascadero Police Department receives OTS grant to boost traffic safety

The funding will support a variety of initiatives, including DUI checkpoints, high-visibility distracted driving patrols, and enforcement targeting violations that endanger bicyclists and pedestrians. Officers will also focus on speeding, failure to yield, red-light running, and improper lane changes.

Additional programs include community presentations on traffic safety, collaborative

operations with neighboring agencies, and officer training or recertification in SFST, ARIDE, and DRE protocols.

The program is funded through the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

They began their journey together. He was an executive with P.G.&E., close to retirement after a lifelong commitment to the company. She was an artist, a mother, and a creative soul. Together, they bought a shop called Posies in San Luis Obispo and eventually opened a wonderful store in the Village of Arroyo Grande named Old World Charm. She showed him a world where he could be creative, passionate, and expressive. He showed her a world where she would be safe, supported, and free to create whatever her heart desired.

Every day, they made an effort to express their love for each other. Anyone who ever went into their store saw it. And at home, there was nightly candlelight, her gourmet dinners, and classical music as they dreamed about exploring Europe together. Which they finally did.

Years later, she was able to prove her love for him as well. Fred was a Vietnam veteran and had developed cancer & Parkinson’s. For the last 15 years, Georgianna’s been his devoted caregiver. She set everything aside and committed her time to every need he had. The gratitude between them was immense. BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstand-

ing liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the internet website. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. NOTICE TO TENANT: You may have a right to purchase this property after the trustee auction pursuant to Section 2924m of the California Civil Code. If you are an “eligible tenant

buyer,” you can purchase the property if you match the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an “eligible bidder,” you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this right of purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call 619645-7711, or visit this internet website http://www. qualityloan.com, using the file number assigned to this foreclosure by the Trustee: CA-25-1020345-SH to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee’s sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee’s sale. If you think you may qualify as an “eligible tenant buyer” or “eligible bidder,” you should consider contacting an attorney or appropriate real estate professional immediately for advice regarding this potential right to purchase. NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE OWNER-OCCUPANT: Any prospective owner-occupant as defined in Section 2924m of the California Civil Code who is the last and highest bidder at the trustee’s sale shall provide the required affidavit or declaration of eligibility to the auctioneer at the trustee’s sale or shall have it delivered to QUALITY LOAN SERVICE CORPORATION by 5 p.m. on the next business day following the trustee’s sale
