NORTH COUNTY — A cold storm front brought predictions of snow across San Luis Obispo County last week.

San Luis Obispo meteorologist John Lindsey had predicted scattered rains showers in the forecast starting on Wednesday, Feb. 22, with snow levels “dropping to between 1,250 and 1,750 feet in the

Commenting on his Facebook page, Lindsey said 1988 was the last time the Cuesta Grade was closed due to snow. And to many who were around North County, that was also the last time this area saw snow of this magnitude.

On the morning of Thurs-

day, Feb. 23, snow made it to residents on the Cuesta Grade, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Templeton, and the surrounding hills and mountains. This snowfall amounted to only about an inch that melted off quickly. However, come Saturday morning, residents were surprised with much more than just a dusting. Local

photographer and Carrisa Plains resident Brittany App captured her surrounding Temblor Mountain Range that resembled the High Sierras.

Lower elevations of North County from Paso Robles to Atascadero experienced nearly an inch of snow on the ground Saturday morning. But more

Tegan Baxter graduated from Biola University with a degree in nursing and a minor in Bible. A registered nurse for nine years, she is now a stayat-home mom. As a family, they love new adventures, board games, good hikes, great art, cheering on their favorite sports teams, and walking alongside others on their faith journey.

“I believe that all ministry ought to be built around relationships,” said Baxter. “God

designed me with a creative and strategic vision, a gift for leadership and a heart for loving people.”

Baxter’s education includes the following:

Daniel lays out his heart and vision for PRCC: It is my passion to encourage

the church as a thriving, multicultural, and multigenerational family who actively pursues the art of loving God and loving others well.

Together we will encourage one another to be authentic Christ-followers; embracing ongoing spiritual development and putting heart, thought and word to action as we live out our faith.

Together we will serve our God by serving our community; displaying the love, hope and transformation we have in Jesus Christ to our neighbors.

Together we will cultivate great relationships; fostering connections with God, with one another, and with those who still need to know Jesus.

Lastly, Daniel shares, “I see great potential at PRCC — a unified and welcoming family, with a variety of backgrounds and stories, gathered around a common Savior with a desire to shine His light in our community. Re-Commissioning Diablo Canyon Power Plant

power plant awaits its relicensing from the NRC

SAN LUIS OBISPO

COUNTY — Last year it was acknowledged that Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant would not decommission its units by 2025 but rather be relicensed through at least 2030.

Pursuing the extension of the plant’s operations is due to the California Energy Commission determining the

extension will “improve statewide electric system reliability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while additional renewable energy and carbonfree resources come online,” according to Suzanne Hosn, Sr. Manager of Marketing and Communications at PG&E.

The Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel was convened by PG&E as a volunteer, non-regulatory group to engage and encourage open public communication through involvement and education. The organization is to engage with the community, and the public has taken the initiative to learn — both good and bad. The public “was informed of a crack in

a weld causing a leak in the Unit 2 reactor coolant system that was discovered in October 2022 and reported to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in December 2022,” as stated in the comment area on diablocanyonpanel.org.

The website states that PG&E claims the cause of the weld defect was fatigue.

In addition to the facilities needing updates, it is within 12 miles of a fault line. If an earthquake occurs without those safety upgrades, it is unknown what ramifications could occur.

A petition was created by the Mothers For Peace, Friends of the Earth, and Environmental Working

Group organizations in opposition to a timely renewal of licenses. Renewal applications are supposed to be submitted at least five years before their licenses expire. While these groups want those involved to abide by the law, they oppose the safety and environmental hazards that they see correlating with the power plant. In the petition, found at fingfx. thomsonreuters.com, it states that the NRC should not violate the law “in considering whether to grant PG&E’s request for an exemption from the timely renewal rule” because of their ineligibility due to the risks.

The petition also states that the NRC has no legal validity to give PG&E an exemption that could allow Diablo Canyon to keep running with expired federal licenses. The NRC postponed a decision on the exemptions until March, according to ewg.org. Therefore, by requiring PG&E to submit an updated and complete relicensing application, it will be rest assured

that the NRC has sufficient information to reach a determination.

According to ewg.org, PG&E has admitted that the application was severely outdated and could not be updated or completed until late 2023 — a year before Unit 1 reactor license expires. Reflecting on that makes it appear that PG&E may have to close Diablo Canyon when its licenses expire in fall 2024 for Unit 1 and spring 2025 for the Unit 2 reactor. Therefore, it will stay closed until the NRC approves a new license renewal application. The NRC also acknowledged that PG&E requested an exemption from regulations that would require the reactors to shut down in 2024 and 2025 unless the licenses had been renewed by then.

In contrast, the Biden administration, along with state and federal governments, support nuclear plants for their significant source of energy to curb climate change. In November, such

support was demonstrated when the U.S. Department of Energy approved funding of up to $1.1 billion to prevent closure of Diablo Canyon through a $6 billion Civil Nuclear Credit program focused at helping struggling nuclear power reactors stay open.

As of now, the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) still shows that the Unit 1’s license expires Nov. 2, 2024, and Unit 2 license ends Aug. 26, 2025. According to NRC Sr. Public Affairs Officer Victor Dricks, PG&E has not filed a license renewal application with the NRC.

Hosn says PG&E requested that the NRC staff resume review of the License Renewal Application (LRA) previously filed in 2009 and suspended in 2016, or issue an exemption allowing the plant to operate until the NRC completes its review of a new LRA. On Jan. 24, NRC clarified the regulatory path will be for PG&E to submit a new LRA, but will be able to leverage previous work associated with the original license renewal application.

“PG&E intends to submit a new application by the end of 2023,” Hosn says. They are developing application materials and supporting documents for the filing.

“PG&E is committed to complying with current legislative policy to ensure the State of California has the option to keep DCPP online past the current expiration date of the licenses to ensure electricity reliability as California continues toward its clean energy future,” Hosn adds. Licenses need to be renewed to keep the DCPP running, so it just appears that the clock is ticking.

Terry Cameron McClain Sr., age 77, passed away on January 26, 2023, at Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton, California.

Terry was born in Glendale, California, on August 26, 1945, to Floyd and Hazel McClain. Terry and his older brother Monte grew up playing baseball and football in the San Fernando Valley.

Many of these teams were coached by

their dad, Floyd, who instilled a strong sense of family in both of the boys. Terry met Mary Iavello after graduating high school, where they both worked at the local grocery store. Terry swept Mary off her feet with his blue eyes and big personality, and they married in 1963.

Terry and Mary were blessed to have three children, Terry Jr., Linda, and Scott.

Terry had a sharp mind and was very industrious. Throughout his life, he held many different types of jobs, including working in numerous trades. These jobs included working for the Post Office as a mailman, VW and Porsche mechanic, long-haul truck driver, plumber, and construction superintendent, and worked as a building inspector for both San Luis Obispo County in California and for the City of Mesa in Arizona. His self-taught construction experience led him to build two homes for his family, one in Atascadero, California, and one in Payson, Arizona.

Terry and Mary moved to Atascadero

Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the San Luis Obispo Post-Acute Center. Born on January 11, 1935, to Ethel and Charles Jones in Dayton, Ohio, she was the fifth of six children. After graduating from Fairmont High School, she worked for Ohio Bell to help pay for her continuing education at the local college. She transferred to the Oregon Business College, where she met John Williams. They married in 1957. After John graduated college, he worked with San Luis Obispo County as Agriculture Commissioner, and they settled in Atascadero. They built their home on Alamo Road and moved in on their first daughter’s second birth-

suspected fentanyl seized potentially could have contributed to thousands of overdose deaths, according to the Sheriff’s Office. In addition to the loaded firearm, a replica of an M4 style rifle was located in the vehicle.

NIPOMO — Two people were arrested by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office after deputies stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

After stopping the vehicle, deputies found both the male and female occupants under the influence of a controlled substance. Salvador Pompa, 40, of Santa Maria was found to have a loaded and concealed handgun on him. The 9mm handgun was an un-serialized ghost gun. Further investigation led to the discovery of large quantities of narcotics in the vehicle. Deputies seized 4 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, 3 ounces of suspected fentanyl and a large quantity of suspected heroin in addition to $2,700 in cash. The total street value of the narcotics seized is approximately $18,000. The amount of

The female occupant, Jeddika Zepeda, 34, of Santa Maria was arrested for conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, under the influence of a controlled substance, and knowingly bringing a controlled substance into the jail.

Pompa was ultimately arrested for conspiracy, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm with a prior felony conviction, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, transportation for sale of narcotics, transport of a controlled substance, knowingly bringing a controlled substance into the jail, and several other drug-related charges.

According to sheriff’s deputies, both Pompa and Zepeda were booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

in 1974 to raise their children. Terry followed in his father’s footsteps and coached many of his kid’s teams, including soccer, softball, and baseball. Terry was also instrumental in establishing soccer in Atascadero with three other coaches. As soccer grew in the area, he traveled with the boys to games over the county. He also invested a great deal of time in coaching baseball. His youngest son, Scott, went on to play professionally, and Terry and Mary enjoyed traveling in the United States and Japan to watch him play.

Terry and Mary moved to Arizona in 1994 and ended up building a home in Payson, Arizona. Terry retired from the City of Mesa in 2009. In 2013, Terry and Mary a moved back to Atascadero to reunite with family and old friends. In his retirement, Terry was able to spend time with his grandchildren, Marissa, Michael, Megan, Kyle, and Kennedy, and support them in their endeavors. He loved his family and took pride in

The first animal I ever owned all by myself, or in this case, owned me, was the meanest show steer in existence. I named him Abe in honor of my idol Abraham Lincoln, and I want to take this opportunity to apologize to our 16th president for desecrating his name in such a manner.

Abe was an Angus steer my teacher picked out for me and I learned my lesson right there to never let another person buy livestock for me, and in 40 years of trading cattle, I never did.

I don’t want any Angus breeders getting mad at me for implying that Angus have a disposition problem, but ancient Angus breeders will admit that Angus cattle 50 years ago could run a little ‘hot’. If there are any Angus breeders who question my loyalty to the breed may I remind them that every one of my show steers was Angus and the first breeding cattle I

Not only was Abe a bad actor, he was also a chronic bloater which meant I spent hours walking him until he released all the greenhouse gases bottled up inside him. And believe me, Abe had a carbon footprint bigger than Al Gore. Speaking of footprints, Abe was the best kicker I’ve ever come in contact with.

To get ready for the fair we had a practice show at the ball field and my teacher held a safety rope around Abe’s neck just in case I couldn’t control him. To no one’s surprise, Abe got away from me and drug my teacher around the bases before someone’s father saved my teacher’s life by cutting my brand new neck rope. But this only raised a far bigger problem: how were we going to catch Abe before he scaled the fence to terrorize and torment the town? I had several rodeo contractors bidding for Abe’s services and Abe would have made me filthy rich if he’d have been left intact.

You can imagine how surprised everyone was when

Abe and I won the county fair showmanship contest but by then Abe had taken pity on me and stood as still and straight as a West Point plebe. And I swear I didn’t use any pharmaceuticals to subdue him. I didn’t even know such things existed but still that was the rumor around the barns. How else could I explain the magical metamorphosis?

Winning beef showmanship meant I qualified to compete in the round robin where the winners of the sheep, swine, beef, and dairy contests had to show each others animal. You can imagine the fear that swept over the fairgrounds. I could certainly see it in the eyes of the tiny gal who’d won hog showmanship when we exchanged a lead strap for a cane. The problem for the others was that Abe was a one-man steer, and everyone knew it. In anticipation, fair officials relocated the ambulance from the rodeo grounds to the showmanship arena and calf ropers had their ropes at the ready.

The casualties that day included a sheep showman who got PTSD, the aforementioned hog showman who became a

Make Good Choices

rev. elizabeth rowley hogue COLUMNIST

American New Thought writer, teacher, and leader Ernest Holmes observed, “The universe can only give us what we take, and since our taking is a thing of consciousness, the universe can only give us what we are aware of.”

The quote suggests that what we experience in our lives is directly related to our level of consciousness and awareness. According to this quote, the universe constantly offers us various experiences, but we can only receive what we are conscious of and willing to accept.

For example, if we are unaware

of the abundance and opportunities around us, we may not recognize them or take advantage of them. However, if we cultivate an abundance mindset and become more conscious of the opportunities around us, we are more likely to attract and manifest abundance.

In other words, our consciousness shapes our perception of reality, and what we focus on and believe in determines what we experience. Likewise, the universe responds to our consciousness and delivers experiences accordingly. Therefore, to experience more abundance, joy, love, and positivity in our lives, we must first become conscious of them and align our thoughts and actions accordingly.

I frequently remind students to get out of their heads. Staying in your head prevents you from participating in the boundless good happening all around you in your life. It locks you into experiencing your thoughts

about life rather than life itself. You have trained yourself to behave a certain way. You can retrain yourself to focus on the good, to be peaceful, poised, and calm, and to perpetuate the goodness and love you are experiencing. Don’t hide your joy, bliss, harmony, wisdom, love, peace, and prosperity. Divide it. Please share it with everyone. The world needs you and your light.

Ernest Holmes also observed, “We are at liberty to choose what manner of life we shall live. We should feel that in this choice, we are backed by all the will, purpose, and all the law of the universe.”

He reminds us of the power of choice that each individual possesses in their life. According to Holmes, we have the freedom to decide how we want to live our lives, and we should feel confident in that choice, knowing that the universe supports us. The universe has your back.

The ultimate disgrace occurred when all the winners took a turn around the rodeo arena at the big Saturday night rodeo, which was meant to be a big honor, but by this time, fair officials had seen enough of Abe and they were worried Abe would get loose and menace the midway. So Abe was left tied up in his stall, and what should have been my most memorable moment turned into my worst nightmare because I had to ride on a flatbed trailer with the fair queen and her court. And to top it off I had to wear white show pants.

In summation, I lost $13 dollars for countless hours of surviving Abe, cried the night before they hauled him away, and couldn’t wait to buy my next steer.

In other words, Holmes suggests that the universe is not indifferent to our choices and desires but is aligned with our aspirations and intentions. The universe supports us in our pursuit of a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Furthermore, the quote implies that the universe operates according to laws that govern everything, including our lives. Therefore, when we make a choice, we should align it with these universal laws and principles to ensure that our actions are in harmony with the natural order of things.

We have the power to create the life we want to live, and the universe is on our side in this endeavor.

Make good choices.

And so it is.

NOTICE OF PETITION TO ADMINISTER ESTATE OF: CONNIE B. HAUETER, aka CONNIE BRADFORD HAUETER, aka CONNIE SUE BRADFORD

CASE NO. 23PR-0038

To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and persons who may otherwise be interested in the WILL or estate, or both of CONNIE B. HAUETER, aka CONNIE BRADFORD HAUETER, aka CONNIE SUE BRAD-

FORD

A PETITION FOR PROBATE has been filed by KATHY C. BRADFORD in the Superior Court of California, County of SAN LUIS OBISPO. THE PETITION FOR PROBATE requests that KATHY C. BRADFORD be appointed as personal representative to administer the estate of the decedent.

THE PETITION requests authority to administer the estate under the Independent Administration of Estates Act . (This authority will allow the personal representative to take many actions without obtaining court approval.

Before taking certain very important actions, however, the personal representative will be required to give notice to interested persons unless they have waived notice or consented to the proposed action.) The independent administration authority will be granted unless an interested person files an objection to the petition and shows good cause why the court should not grant the authority.

A HEARING on the petition will be held in this court as follows: 03/21/2023 at 9:00AM in Dept. 4 located at 1050 MONTEREY ST., SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA 93408

IF YOU OBJECT to the granting of the petition, you should appear at the hearing and state your objections or file written objections with the court before the hearing.

Your appearance may be in person or by your attorney.

IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent creditor of the decedent, you must file your claim with the court and mail a copy to the personal representative appointed by the court within the later of either (1) four months from the date of first issuance of

letters to a general personal representative, as defined in section 58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days from the date of mailing or personal delivery to you of a notice under section 9052 of the California Probate Code. Other California statutes and legal authority may affect your rights as a creditor. You may want to consult with an attorney knowledgeable in California law. YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court. If you are a person interested in the estate, you may file with the court a Request for Special Notice (form DE-154) of the filing of an inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or account as provided in Probate Code section 1250. A Request for Special Notice form is available from the court clerk.

STATE OF INDIANA CLAY CIRCUIT COURT 2023 TERM

IN RE: THE GUARDIANSHIP OF ELANA MAISEY RICHARDSON CAUSE NO. 11C01-2210GU-000043 A Minor Child

ALIAS SUMMONS BY PUBLICATION

To: Ashli Morgan Fellom, whose current whereabouts are unknown: You are hereby notified that you have been named by the person named as the Petitioner in the Court indicated above, for a guardianship action regarding your minor child, Elana Maisey Richardson, filed on October 4, 2022. This cause of action can be heard in your absence. It is your responsibility to notify the Court listed above of your current address and any changes to your address, so that you can be notified of actions taken in this case, including but not limited to hearing dates. You must respond within thirty (30) days after the last notice of the action is

published, and if you fail to do so,

married man as his sole and separate property as to an undivided one-half interest and Evangelina Perez, a married woman as her sole and separate property as to an undivided onehalf interest, all as tenants in common

shown below, of all right, title, and interest conveyed to and now held by the trustee in the hereinafter described property under and pursuant to a Deed of Trust described below. The sale will be made, but without covenant or warranty, expressed or implied, regarding title, possession, or encumbrances, to pay the remaining principal sum of the note(s) secured by the Deed of Trust, with interest and late charges thereon, as provided in the note(s), advances, under the terms of the Deed of Trust, interest thereon, fees, charges and expenses of the Trustee for the total amount (at the time of the initial publication of the Notice of Sale) reasonably estimated to be set forth below. The amount may be greater on the day of sale.

Trustor: Carlos B Perez a

disclaims any liability for any incorrectness of the street address or other common designation, if any, shown above. If no street address or other common designation is shown, directions to the location of the property may be obtained by sending a written request to the beneficiary within 10 days of the date of first publication of this Notice of Sale. Notice To Potential Bidders: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either

of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. All checks payable to Prestige Default Services, LLC. Notice To Property Owner: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (877) 440-4460 or visit this Internet Web site https://mkconsultantsinc.com/trustees-sales/, using the file number assigned to this case 22-6801. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. Notice To Tenant: You may have a right to purchase this property after the trustee auction pursuant to Section 2924m of the California Civil Code. If you are an “eligible tenant buyer,” you can purchase the property if you match the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an “eligible bidder,” you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this right of

purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call (877) 440-4460, or visit this internet website https://mkconsultantsinc.com/trustees-sales/, using the file number assigned to this case 22-6801 to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee’s sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee’s sale.

If you think you may qualify as an “eligible tenant buyer” or “eligible bidder,” you should consider contacting an attorney or appropriate real estate professional immediately for advice regarding this potential right to purchase.

residents in Parkfield were stuck at home, nearly packed in with snow.

Parkfield resident Jill Easterbrook told Paso Robles Press downed powerlines led to having no power for most of the weekend.

“We had so much snow and the kids loved it. Almost seemed like Christmas morning,” Easterbrook said of the over 6 inches of snow they woke up to.

The abundance of snow brought some unseasonal tourism to the area, which was greatly appreciated by the team at Parkfield Cafe.

“It was pretty wild,” said Lauren Varian, “The cafe was extremely busy.”

Varian described snowmen popping up throughout the valley and her brother even attempted snowboarding. She reports the cafe went through 250 pounds of potatoes and the coffee maker never stopped.

“The cafe is a pretty cozy place to be in with the snow — it’s always fun to have a lot of people in town,” Varian added.

support or endorse any candidate for elective office.”

Though the district did not specify which candidate they were referring to, special election candidate Kenney Enney filed a complaint against the district on Sunday, Feb. 26 — two days following the district’s press release.

A special election was initiated after a petition was successful in terminating provisionally appointed trustee Enney, who was sworn in on Oct. 11, 2022. He was appointed to fill the seat left behind by Chris Bausch, who left the PRJUSD to fill a seat on Paso Robles City Council.

The special election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, and is estimated to cost PRJUSD $453,000.

The petition itself did not specify the reason for terminating Enney. However, enough signatures were collected, and a special election was scheduled. There are only two candidates vying for the seat: Enney, a retired Marine and rancher, and Angela Hollander, a retired nonprofit manager.

Los Angeles and Ventura County received a blizzard warning from the National Weather Service (NWS) last weekend. Snow and frozen roads closed the Grapevine, which led to an increase in traffic on Highway 101.

Between the snow melt-off and rainy week, our season rainfall and reservoir levels have increased. Paso Robles

Water Division has recorded an average annual rainfall total of 14.21 inches from 1942 to June 2019. Atascadero

Mutual Water Company records an average annual rainfall of 17.53 with records going back to 1915.

The last time our county saw any kind of “snow flurry” was in 2019. In an article Lindsey wrote, featured in Santa Maria Times in December 2019, described the “most famous snow event occurred Dec. 15, 1988, when an intense storm from the eastern part of the Gulf of Alaska combined with a cold, upper-level low-pressure system that moved through Central California from Nevada.” That system, Lindsey says produced records amount of snow in North County that accumulated to 5-8 inches.

The district stated they have requested the unnamed candidate in their press release to “cease using its logo for campaign purposes and will be forced to continue to expend District resources and pursue all appropriate actions to ensure its logo is only used with authorization.”

Adding that the district bases its reason for the cease because “State law prohibits the District from using its resources to support or oppose candidates for office.”

Enney filed his complaint with the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) against the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (SLOCOE), the PRJUSD, SLO County Superintendent of Education James Brescia, Superintendent of PRJUSD Curt Dubost, and community member Carey Alvord-Schof, for violations of the State Political Reform Act.

In a press release sent to Paso Robles Press from Enney, his complaint “alleges that the two education entities illegally expended public taxpayer funds under Penal Code 424, and failed to report these illegal expenditures as “contributions” under Chapter 4 of title 9 of the Government Code.”

offer, the guests were spoiled for choice. They made their way from one winery to the next, sipping and swirling their glasses, as they savored the different aromas and flavors. The winemakers were eager to share their passion for Rhônestyle wines, engaging in lively conversations with the guests.

Here is the rainfall and reservoir levels as of Tuesday, Feb. 28:

On Tuesday, Feb. 28 Lindsey predicted another cold front coming through the Central Coast with “strong to gale-force southwesterly winds with speeds of 25 to 38 mph and gusts up to 45 mph.”

At the time of printing, the rain was expected through Wednesday, March 1, with rainfall ranging between 0.50 and 1.50 inches. Once again, Lindsey predicts snow levels dropping to 1,500 feet away from the ocean Wednesday morning. By Thursday morning when you receive your weekly copy of Paso Robles Press, we will know the extent of the winter storm.

By definition, Penal Code 424 makes it a crime for a public officer or a trustee of public funds to misappropriate the funds for improper use. If convicted, it is a felony that would result in up to four years in jail or prison, fines up to $10,000 and disqualification from holding public office.

Addressing the campaign signs usage of the district logo — confirming Enney is the candidate the district was referring to — Enney’s campaign attorney, Charles Bell of Sacramento, dismissed Dubost’s contentions as “completely baseless,” saying Enney’s use of the PRJUSD “logo” materials was “a clear case of application of the ‘fair use’ exception to federal copyright and state corporate laws.” Bell noted, “Dubost’s acts in particular dragged the school district into the April 18 election positioned against Enney, a position flatly violative of the Penal and Elections Codes.”

Enney accuses Brescia, Dubost, and Alvord-Schof of “formulating and implementing a petition campaign to qualify a measure for the purpose of depriving Enney, a critic of PRJUSD fiscal and gender policies, of his appointive PRJUSD Trustee position.”

Additionally, Enney states he has obtained public records that show Brescia, Dubost, and Alvord-Schof conspired to expedite the qualification process of the petition.

Paso Robles Press has reached out to Brescia, Dubost, and Alvord-Schof for comment. We have also requested the public records Enney refers to above and a copy of the filed complaint.

At the time of printing, Paso Robles Press did not receive a response from Dubost.

Brescia stated that as of noon on Tuesday, his office had not received any communications from the FPPC on the matter, adding, “My office and I take any complaints seriously and will work with the FPPC to respond to any questions/complaints.”

Alvord-Schof was a key organizer in the petition to remove Kenney and push for a special election. She is also the supervisor of homeless & foster youth services for PRJUSD.

“I formulated and implemented this petition using personal facilities, time, and expenses. No educational agencies or leaders were involved,” said AlvordSchof of Enney’s allegations against her. “While I appreciate the credit, the petition was the result of input by

Assistant Superintendent, Business Services Brad Pawlowski told the board that the 36th Street campus is in motion to be remodeled; therefore, students will have to leave to another campus regardless. Staff are currently working to address safety

many community members who have a strong interest in seeing the school district focus on the actual day-to-day challenges of teachers and not ideology. The effort did involve dozens of private citizen volunteers who helped collect signatures for this successful petition.”

Enney told Paso Robles Press that following the district’s first letter to him, he amended future printing to not include their logo but did not provide the requested complaint and public documents to us.

Paso Robles Press has also reached out to the FPPC for confirmation and a copy of the complaint. An FPPC communications director told Paso Robles Press that under FPPC regulations (18360), they cannot confirm or release any information regarding a complaint until two days after they inform any respondent of the complaint. The FPPC review process can take up to 14 days to decide if the complaint has merit for an investigation. Any updates on the filed complaint will not be available until early next week.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.

After a lengthy discussion between trustees on the dual-immersion program, campus location, and the history of Georgia Brown, a motion was made. The motion for staff to present the above information at the Tuesday, March 28, meeting was approved with a 3-2 vote — Trustees Nathan Williams and Jim Cogan voting no.

In addition, we're excited to announce that the winner of the $10,000 ad package is Street Side Ale House of North County Restaurant Group for receiving the most votes overall in the 2023 Best of North SLO County Readers Poll! This award is a special recognition for the business that received the most votes across all categories in the poll. Congratulations to North County Restaurant Group on this impressive achievement!

Thank you again to all of the businesses, organizations, and individuals who participated in the poll, and a special congratulations to all of this year's winners!
