“May you find peace in the promise of the solstice night, that each day forward is blessed with more light. That the cycle of nature, unbroken, and true brings faith to your soul and well-being to you. Rejoice in the darkness, in the silence, find rest, and may the days that follow be abundantly blessed.”

- Native American Solstice Blessing

As we embrace the holiday season and the final chapter of another remarkable year, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the journey we’ve traveled together. This issue marks a meaningful milestone for us—our one-year anniversary since acquiring Central Coast Living, previously known as Living Lavishly. With each page, each story, and each shared moment, we have worked to create a publication that captures the heart and soul of the Central Coast, celebrating the community we all cherish.

When we first took the helm of Central Coast Living, my vision was clear: to celebrate the beauty of life on the Central Coast, especially in the spaces we call home. Inspired by this focus, we introduced sections like In the Kitchen and In the Garden, offering everything from seasonal recipes and farmers market finds to practical gardening tips. From home design to homesteading, our goal has been to highlight the distinctive lifestyle that makes this region so special. Building on this foundation, we added thoughtful features on fashion and beauty, recognizing that how we live and express ourselves reflects the unique spirit of our coastal community.

One of the things I am especially proud of is our Live Inspired series. This section has allowed us to dive into unique stories from locals—people who are making a difference, embracing their passions, and inspiring others in ways big and small. Whether it’s an artist, entrepreneur, or someone quietly contributing behind the scenes, these profiles give a voice to the incredible people who make up our vibrant community.

And as a nod to the Central Coast’s celebrated wine culture, we introduced our Wine Country section, bringing readers insights into our local wineries, tasting events, and the artistry behind each bottle. Rounding out our pages is our Experiences section, where we encourage readers to explore, engage, and savor the adventures waiting for them right here at home and across our nation.

This holiday issue is especially close to our hearts. As the year winds down, we celebrate the traditions that bring warmth and connection to our lives. We’ve curated a local Holiday Gift Guide, featuring “A Few of Our Favorite Things,” from thoughtful gifts to handcrafted local treasures. We also dove into festive holiday experiences, including a behind-thescenes look at Miracle at 1122 Cocktail Lounge and Sipping Santa at Cane Tiki Room in Paso Robles, and the festive atmosphere at Christmas at the Carissa. These spaces bring the spirit of the holidays to life with warmth, creativity, and community—a perfect example of the magic found here on the Central Coast.

In this issue, we took a moment to ask locals what they are grateful for, and their heartfelt responses reminded us of the many blessings we share. Family, friends, and community emerged as common themes, serving as a beautiful reminder of what makes this season so special. We also had the pleasure of sitting down with the iconic Boo Boo Records to celebrate their 50th anniversary, the resurgence of vinyl, and their efforts in supporting emerging artists, including local sensation Dasha.

As we turn the page on another year, I want to express my deepest gratitude to you—our readers, advertisers, supporters, and the entire community. Your stories, your enthusiasm, and your passion for life on the Central Coast make our work fulfilling and rewarding. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring you another year of wonderful stories, experiences, and inspiration.

Wishing you and yours a joyful holiday season filled with love, laughter, and connection. Thank you for being part of the  Living family, and here’s to many more seasons of storytelling together.

What is your favorite holiday event?

I love the Paso Robles Downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony after Thanksgiving. There is something so magical about the whole park flickering with lights, gently blowing in the evening breeze. I frequent many downtown establishments, and it’s the one thing that always has me smiling!

Dana McGraw Sales Manager

My favorite holiday activity is driving around town, looking at all the holiday decorations and lights while listening to classic Christmas music!

Cami Martin Admin & Ad Coordinator

My favorite event to attend around town is the Lights of Hope and the Annual Downtown Lighting Ceremony. Being the day after Thanksgiving, it really kicks off the holiday season for me. I love to see the holiday lights in the park — it makes us feel like a little Hallmark town. The event is even better because it supports the Cancer Support Community — California Central Coast.

The Menorah Lighting in SLO makes me all warm and fuzzy inside and it’s so nice to see everyone come together for the first night of candle lighting. Also, I always love traipsing through Vine Street in Paso every year.

Christianna Marks Community Writer

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, when I get together with family to express thankfulness for all our blessings.

Jen Rodman Graphic Ad Design

My favorite part of the local Christmas celebrations are the parades. During the holidays, they’re more festive than usual, and the floats tend to be colorful and very creative.

Michael Chaldu Copy Editor

I love the sights, sounds, and smells associated with Winter and Christmas … picking out that perfect tree. Getting it home. And finally, decorating it, which takes a full day. I love it all.

Christie Coyes Advertising & Sales

My family celebrates Christmas in a non-standard fashion. We do a kind of mixed Christmas involving our favorite traditions from both sides of our family. We always have a lot of fun celebrating the holidays, but my favorite event has to be Christmas Eve presents and tamales! yum!

Neil Schumaker Graphic Design Lead

Playing saxophone in the Vine Street Parade for the Bearcat Band was hands down my favorite holiday tradition. We’d deck out our instruments with lights and tinsel, making everything feel festive. Now, when I watch the band, it takes me right back to those moments of winging it through parts I hadn’t quite memorized — and yes, to those of you in the band now, we notice, but we’re cheering for you anyway!

One of my favorite parts of the holidays is seeing all of the lights that people put on their houses. John Nygaard

Wreath

Creative Way to Brighten Up Decor and Great Gifts

As the winter and holiday season approaches, it is the perfect time to infuse a little extra cheer into your home, and one of the most creative ways to do so is by crafting a beautiful holiday wreath. Whether hanging on your door, placed as a centerpiece, or gifted to a loved one, a handmade wreath is a welcoming and festive addition that brings warmth, personality, and seasonal spirit to any space

Holiday wreaths are more than just decorative pieces. They are a symbol of hospitality, good fortune, and unity, making them an ideal addition to your holiday decor. What makes wreaths so special is their versatility—there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. You can customize them with your favorite colors, materials, and embellishments to reflect your personal style or fit the theme of your home.

A wreath can be as simple or intricate as you desire. Classic designs incorporate fresh evergreens like pine, fir, or spruce, often adorned with traditional elements such as red ribbons, pinecones, and berries. For a modern twist, you might opt for metallic accents, dried flowers, or even a minimalist monochromatic color scheme. The endless options for customization make wreath-making a satisfying, creative endeavor.

Handcrafted holiday wreaths are also fantastic gift ideas. They are a personal and thoughtful gesture, showing the recipient that you put time and effort into creating something special just for them. Whether given to family, friends, or neighbors, a wreath can brighten someone’s home and give them a lasting piece of holiday cheer. And, because wreaths are seasonal items, they can be enjoyed for the entire holiday season, giving your gift even more impact.

If you’re looking to make your wreaths extra special, consider incorporating items that reflect the recipient’s unique tastes or interests. You can personalize your wreath with dried flowers, mini ornaments, or even hand-painted elements. A wreath crafted with care can be a lasting reminder of the warmth and thoughtfulness of the giver.

style you want to achieve.

– This will help secure the greenery and decorations in place.

– Fresh or faux options like pine, cedar, fir, or eucalyptus. You can also use dried elements for a rustic feel.

– These add a touch of elegance or fun to your wreath.

– Think of small ornaments, berries, pinecones, or even dried citrus slices to add texture and visual interest.

– To trim the greenery and arrange it the way you like.

For those who want to add a little something extra, here are some ideas to take your wreath to the next level:

– Battery-operated string lights can add a soft, glowing effect to your wreath.

– You can tie cinnamon sticks or sprigs of lavender into your wreath for a fragrant touch.

– Add ornaments or small photo frames with family pictures or initials for a more personal touch.

Farms

Celebrate Local Traditions and Make Life Long Memories

As the holiday season approaches, Central Coast families begin the cherished tradition of finding the perfect Christmas tree. The region boasts an array of Christmas tree farms, each with unique offerings and atmospheres that make them perfect destinations for holiday memories. Here, we highlight five local farms—Hidden Springs Tree Farm, Agape Christmas Tree Farm, Jack Creek Farms, Brookshire Farms, and Holloway’s Christmas Tree Farm—that bring their own twist to the festive season.

Hidden Springs Tree Farm - Atascadero

Nestled on ten picturesque acres at 3202 Monterey Road, Hidden Springs Tree Farm has been a Christmas staple since 1962. Owned and operated by third- and fourthgeneration family members Auraly and Olivia Dobbs, Hidden Springs offers a wide selection of trees, including native Douglas firs and Monterey pines. Each visit to Hidden Springs is an adventure, with Olivia saying, “You never know what you’ll find on the farm.”

In addition to their u-pick trees, this year they’re featuring pre-cut noble and Nordmann firs—varieties that can’t be grown locally but are beloved for their shape and needle retention. For those seeking a unique experience, Hidden Springs offers an Airbnb on the property, giving guests a chance to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit surrounded by evergreens. They open at 10 a.m. on November 24. Learn more at hiddenspringschristmastreefarm.com.

Just a short drive away, Agape Christmas Tree Farm at 625 Templeton Road has been a family-owned destination since 2006. Run by Rick Armet of Armets Landscaping, Agape offers a delightful array of experiences. “Our three boys and a girl love to help out,” says Rick, underscoring the farm’s family-oriented vibe. Visitors are likely to meet some of the Armet children, whether greeting guests, assisting with tree selection, or helping at the register.

Agape offers nine tree varieties, including some towering up to 25 feet—ideal for families with large spaces. A hallmark of Agape’s commitment to the community is their annual donation of 50 trees to families and churches in need. Beyond trees, they offer horse-drawn carriage rides, tractor rides, and a petting zoo, making it an exciting outing for all ages. They open the day after Thanksgiving, and more information can be found at facebook.com/ agapechristmastrees.

Agape Christmas Tree Farm – Templeton

Jack Creek Farms – Templeton

Known for pumpkins and seasonal produce, Jack Creek Farms at 5000 W. Highway 46 has grown to include Christmas trees as part of its offerings. Co-owner Becky Sumpter explains, “We only started doing Christmas trees about 8 or 9 years ago. We wanted to remind people that we’re here for most of the year.” Jack Creek Farms offers Monterey pine and cypress trees, along with festive decor and any remaining seasonal fruit.

The farm’s Christmas tree season opens the day after Thanksgiving, and while smaller in scale than other local farms, Jack Creek’s charm lies in its intimate feel and dedication to community. More details are available at jackcreekfarms.com.

Brookshire Farms – San Luis Obispo & Paso Robles

Operating at multiple locations, including 4747 Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo and the Paso Robles Fairgrounds, Brookshire Farms is known for its diverse selection of trees, such as grand firs, Douglas firs, Nordmanns, and silver tips. Beyond Christmas trees, the farm embraces the holiday season with hot cider, wreaths, and mistletoe, along with flocked trees for a snowy look.

Brookshire Farms also has a popular fall season with the Central Coast’s largest corn maze, hay rides, and apple cannons. After the fall season wraps up, they bring Christmas trees from their Oregon farm to their retail locations on the Central Coast. They’ll open on November 29, and more information is available at brookshirefarms.com.

Christmas Tree Farm – Nipomo

For families who love a large selection, Holloway’s Christmas Tree Farm at 561 South Oakglen Avenue in Nipomo is California’s largest choose-and-cut farm. Known for its expertly shaped trees thanks to a dedicated pruning crew, Holloway’s opens on November 17 and is expected to sell out due to its popularity. Their reputation for high-quality trees makes it a go-to spot for holiday enthusiasts eager to hand-select their perfect tree.

Holloway’s is a beloved destination for families across the state, and they open earlier than many local farms, allowing an extended window to pick your tree. For more details, visit hollowaysfarm.com.

Each of these tree farms offers something special, from unique tree varieties to community-oriented events, creating a festive backdrop for families across the Central Coast. Whether you’re looking for towering trees, petting zoos, or a cozy stay among evergreens, these farms offer the perfect setting to make holiday memories that will last a lifetime.

MAGIC the Un w r ap

As the holiday season draws near, the Central Coast is preparing to dazzle locals and visitors alike with festive cheer and unforgettable experiences. This year, Paso Robles is home to two magical pop-up bar experiences — Miracle at 1122 Cocktail Lounge and Sippin’ Santa at Cane Tiki Room — offering a unique opportunity to indulge in holiday-themed cocktails and explore extravagant decorations. And just down the way in San Luis Obispo, Christmas at the Carissa brings iconic holiday movies to life inside the historic Carissa Building. These joyful destinations transform the Central Coast into a must-visit holiday haven, filled with nostalgia, wonder, and festive spirit.

Los Angeles offering these jolly festivities. From November 15 to December 31, both venues will immerse visitors in a world of holiday-inspired cocktails, elaborate decorations, and a festive atmosphere that captures the true spirit of Christmas.

Miracle at 1122 Cocktail Lounge offers a cozy winter retreat where guests can enjoy holiday drinks in a charming, festive environment. Picture twinkling lights, a beautiful Christmas tree, and the soft hum of holiday music in the background. Each year, the décor is more dazzling, with every inch of the space carefully adorned to reflect the magic of the season. As Donovan Schmit, CEO of The Park & Pine Group, explained, “We’re decking out every corner. From the outside to the inside, every detail is designed to bring the holiday spirit to life.”

At Sippin’ Santa at Cane Tiki Room, guests get a tropical twist on their Christmas celebrations. Imagine Santa lounging by the beach, enjoying tiki-inspired drinks in an island oasis. This pop-up blends the warmth of the holidays with the laid-back charm of a tiki bar, offering a unique holiday experience that combines nostalgia with surprise.

“Who doesn’t love Christmas?” Donovan muses. “The decorations, the sweaters, the movies, and of course, the drinks! We wanted to create a festive destination here in Paso Robles that captures the heart of Christmas. Both Cane Tiki Room and 1122 Cocktail Lounge will be completely transformed for the season, offering guests a magical escape into holiday wonder.”

At both venues, the cocktail menus are just as whimsical as the decorations. Miracle at 1122 features holiday-inspired concoctions like the Stocking Stuffer, Crooked Antler, Christmapolitan, Snowball Old-Fashioned, and Jingle Balls Nog, while Sippin’ Santa offers tropical delights such as Sugar Plum Mai Tai, Frosty the Merman, Jingle Bird, and Merry Spritzmas. Guests can sip these festive drinks served in special, limited-edition glassware, adding a unique touch to their holiday experience.

Each venue promises to capture the magic of Christmas in every detail, from garlands and twinkling lights to the cheerful holiday attire of the staff. It’s the perfect place to gather with friends, take photos, and embrace the spirit of the season.

Christmas at the Carissa

In San Luis Obispo, the holiday magic continues with Christmas at the Carissa, a festive event that transports guests into their favorite holiday movies. Now in its third year, this immersive experience inside the historic Carissa Building has become a beloved tradition, drawing visitors from all over to relive the magic of Christmas classics like “Home Alone,” “Elf,” “The Grinch,” and “The Polar Express.” t The space is transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with interactive scenes from these iconic films.

Rodney Cegelski, the founder of Rod & Hammer’s California Whiskey, the sponsor of this event, shared his excitement “As a whiskey house, we’re now becoming the go-to destination for Christmas magic. People have cherished memories tied to these films, and we’re thrilled to offer a place where they can experience them in a new, interactive way.”

Each year, the team behind Christmas at the Carissa brings fresh ideas to the table. This year’s immersive experience includes five themed features, each designed to make guests feel as though they’ve stepped into a beloved holiday scene. Highlights include:

Ticket to Ride The Polar Express: Visitors can enjoy a cozy cup of hot cocoa while stepping into a recreated train scene from “The Polar Express,” capturing the spirit of holiday adventure.

Buddy’s Hall:

Inspired by “Elf,” this area is filled with holiday cheer, complete with whimsical decorations and festive energy that captures the fun-loving nature of Buddy the Elf.

Whoville Christmas: Guests can experience the whimsy of “The Grinch,” gathering around a towering Christmas tree where the Grinch’s heart grows three sizes.

Visit Kevin at His Home: Take a trip to the iconic “Home Alone” house, where Kevin’s creative pranks await.

Max’s Patio: Christmas for the Dogs: With a heated creekside patio, this area welcomes families with furry friends to join in on the holiday fun.

“ As a whiskey house, we’re now becoming the go-to destination for CHRISTMAS MAGIC.”

As guests explore these interactive features, they can sip on holiday-themed cocktails created by Executive Chef Jeremy Fike, such as the Gingerbread Martini, Pomegranate Fizz, and Cindy Lu Who Punch. Rod & Hammer’s seasonal bites, like Snow Crab Mac & Cheese and Reindeer Meatballs, complete the experience, adding warmth and comfort to the festivities.

Brooke Nicole Events, a local event planner, has partnered with Rod & Hammer’s to bring these immersive scenes to life. With photo opportunities around every corner, it’s no wonder that Christmas at the Carissa has become one of the must-visit events of the season. As Rodney puts it, “It’s not just about the drinks or the décor—it’s about the experience. It’s about bringing people together to relive the holiday moments they love.”

A Central Coast Holiday Tradition

These two holiday pop-ups—Miracle at 1122 Cocktail Lounge and Sippin’ Santa at Cane Tiki Room in Paso Robles, as well as Christmas at the Carissa in San Luis Obispo—are just a few of the magical experiences the Central Coast offers this holiday season. Whether you’re sipping on a festive cocktail at a winter-themed bar, strolling through interactive holiday movie scenes, or simply soaking in the holiday ambiance, there’s no better place to celebrate the season.

As Donovan Schmit so perfectly sums up, “It’s not just about the drinks or decorations—it’s about bringing people together to celebrate the magic of the season.” So, gather your loved ones, slip into your favorite Christmas sweater, and head to these festive spots for a holiday season you won’t soon forget. With unique experiences that capture the nostalgia, joy, and magic of Christmas, the Central Coast is truly the place to be this holiday season.

Beauty Trends for the Holidays

The holiday season is the perfect time to revamp your beauty routine and embrace the latest trends. With festive gatherings and special events on the horizon, a touch of glamour is just what you need. Whether you’re looking to sparkle at parties or achieve a natural glow for family gatherings, the 2024 holiday beauty trends offer a stunning variety of looks for every style and occasion. Here’s a roundup of the top beauty trends to embrace this holiday season, ensuring you look and feel your best.

The Return of Bold Lips

The classic red lip is making a powerful comeback. Iconic and timeless, bold lip colors—deep reds, burgundy, and berry shades—are taking over runways and social media. Beauty influencers and makeup artists alike emphasize that a rich, bold lip adds instant sophistication to any look, even with minimal eye makeup. According to a report by Allure, bold lips are expected to be one of the season’s biggest trends, with brands offering everything from matte to glossy finishes to suit different preferences.

Soft, Ethereal Glow

Dewy skin and a luminous glow are replacing heavy contouring this season. Achieving that fresh, ethereal look is all about enhancing your natural complexion. Skincare remains a key focus, with more people investing in hydrating serums and illuminating moisturizers for a radiant base. Vogue beauty editors suggest incorporating liquid highlighters or cream blushes with a subtle shimmer into your routine for a youthful glow. Brands like Charlotte Tilbury and Fenty Beauty have released holiday collections featuring light-reflecting products, perfect for capturing that Instagram-worthy shine.

Sustainable Beauty Choices

Sustainability continues to shape the beauty industry, and holiday beauty trends are no exception. Consumers are increasingly seeking eco-friendly packaging, cruelty-free products, and vegan formulations. Brands like Kjaer Weis and ILIA are leading the charge with refillable makeup palettes and skincare products made with natural ingredients. According to Marie Claire, eco-conscious gift sets are becoming popular this holiday season, as shoppers prioritize sustainability in their beauty purchases.

Glitter and Metallics

No holiday season is complete without a little sparkle. Glittery eyeshadows and metallic finishes are back, allowing for playful experi-

mentation with holiday makeup. Harper’s Bazaar highlights that silver and gold metallic shades are dominating this year, seen in eyeshadows, lip glosses, and nail polishes. These sparkling touches are perfect for festive events and New Year’s Eve celebrations. Pair metallic eyes with glowing skin and bold lips for an elegant, balanced holiday look.

Slicked-Back Hair and Embellished Accessories

Minimalist, slicked-back hairstyles are trending for a sleek and sophisticated holiday vibe. Whether styled in a high ponytail, low bun, or simply pulled back, this polished look is easy to achieve and pairs well with statement earrings or bold accessories. Hair embellishments like jeweled clips, velvet headbands, and oversized bows are also making waves this season, adding a festive flair to simple hairstyles. This trend blends effortless chic with holiday sparkle, making it perfect for both casual gatherings and formal events.

Festive Nail Art

Nail art is in the spotlight this holiday season, with intricate designs, glitter accents, and deep winter colors trending. From festive snowflakes to metallic tips, holiday nail designs allow for endless creativity. Beauty salons are offering specialized holiday services with colors like emerald green, rich burgundy, and icy blues. Cosmopolitan notes that minimalist designs with negative space or subtle metallic accents are also in demand this season, offering both bold and understated festive cheer.

Personalized Beauty

Customization is key this holiday season, with more brands offering personalized beauty solutions—from custom-blended foundations to bespoke skincare routines. As the beauty industry evolves, there’s a growing focus on individualized care. Consumers are seeking products tailored to their unique skin tones and textures, with many brands introducing AI-driven tools to create personalized formulas. Elle reports that this trend will continue into 2025, as beauty shoppers increasingly prioritize products designed for their specific needs.

A Season of Celebration and Self-Care

This holiday season is about more than just looking glamorous—it’s about celebrating self-expression and personal care. As you prepare for the festivities, experiment with the latest trends to find the looks that make you feel confident, radiant, and festive. From bold lips to glowing skin, this season’s beauty trends are all about embracing individuality and making a statement.

Record stores have been the hub of music culture since the 1960s when they started to grow in popularity to accommodate an industry that was becoming part of every household: vinyl records. Though some people never left the fold, vinyl and the record stores that provide them have once again gained popularity and have personally become one of my favorite places to hang out, whether locally or in far-flung cities all over the world.

“This is our 50th Anniversary. We’ve been at the current location since 1978,” Boo Boo Records owner Mike White said.

In fact, Mike also explained that even though CD sales have declined, with a possible return in the future. Vinyl has made a ginormous comeback in the last

“Fifty percent of our sales are vinyl. That’s a chunk,” added Mike. “We see all age groups, of course, are back on it. Some never left. But the really encouraging part of it is the fact

that high school kids are coming in buying an armload of dollar albums or whatever. They’re in it. They’re having fun with it.”

He also added that the age of people coming in might skew a little younger now than it used to, but because of what Boo Boos has to offer, including posters, apparel, books, and more for your music-listening needs, they’ve always had a diverse age group of people through the doors. It also helps that, like almost any record store you walk into, the people who work there love music as much as the people who enter, and instant friendships tend to form, even if they only last for the length of your visit.

Boo Boo’s doesn’t only offer music in the form of vinyl and CDs; they’ve also been hosting in-store concerts and artist pop-ups since they added a small stage to their store in the 1990s.

“Labels were encouraging their bands, their signed artists to go out and visit record stores and do little performances and do little ‘in stores.’ On top of that, we’ve always had a super rich local artist [scene], just a bunch of great bands, you know. It was just one more place for them to come and play and be seen. We just put up a stage, and then it just rolled,” added Mike.

Recently, in October, a lifelong friend of Mike and Boo Boos, country music star and SLO native Dasha, came back to visit and perform on that very same stage, surrounded by vinyl.

Originally, the “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” singer was slated to do a meet and greet mixed with a signing, but she decided to include the pop-up acoustic show as well. I was one of the lucky members of the audience, which was a bonus since I wasn’t able to snag a ticket to her sold-out show in SLO the next night.

“Today was, I mean, so cool,” Dasha told me at the pop-up. “I love playing my songs acoustic like this because it’s how I wrote them. It’s fun having my brother up there on stage with me; even though we didn’t really know what we were doing, it didn’t matter; we were just having fun.”

During the show, Dasha pulled her brother, Bardo, up on stage to perform with her. Together, they co-wrote a bunch of the songs off her album, but the singer-songwriter joked that she showed him everything else about 30 minutes before the show. Dasha added that the sibling duo hadn’t been able to perform together since her career has taken off. The mixture of their sibling chemistry and the way Dasha interacted with the people there to watch her made it feel like everyone was friends and like you knew her, even if you didn’t.

The short set was filled with multiple tracks from Dasha’s second studio album, “What Happens Now?,” which came out in February.

“It’s a totally different vibe. Rather than a big band setting, like with Dasha and Bardo, it was just this quaint acoustic set,” stated Mike, who’s known Dasha since she was a kid, of what the Boo Boos stage has to offer.

A couple of songs into the setlist she was making up on the fly, Dasha performed her platinum single, which also won Female Song of the Year at the People’s Choice Country Awards, “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” for the room full of fans of all ages. The young fans in the audience, of which there were many, were taught the viral TikTok line dance that Dasha and her friends made up and posted online, shooting the song to international fame.

“It’s really surreal because I always came in this record store as a kid to find the vinyl, to find the CDs that I wanted to buy, thinking about, ‘Oh, one day I’m gonna have a record in here,’ and now I do,” Dasha said. “It’s really, really, really surreal coming back and meeting people who are here and fans who are buying my records. It’s insane.”

This is your reminder to head to a local record shop this holiday season, whether it is to buy an album for someone on your list (or yourself), watch a pop-up show from a favorite mu sic artist, or just hang out in a place where people love music as much as

Project MXB: A 1986 Airstream Motorhome Renovation Built for Adventure Innovative Spaces:

Transforming a classic vehicle requires a careful blend of the old and the new, and Project MXB is the perfect example. This beautifully renovated 1986 Airstream Motorhome 345 has been reimagined with modern luxury and functionality. Designed with festivals and adventure in mind, it retains the charm of its vintage origins while offering the convenience of today’s technology—making it the ultimate travel companion for events like Burning Man and beyond.

A Tribute to Vintage Airstream Charm

At the heart of Project MXB is a deep respect for the timeless appeal of Airstreams. Known for their sleek aluminum exterior and iconic rounded shape, the 345 model captivates road warriors and design enthusiasts alike. This renovation preserves those classic lines while introducing stylish upgrades to meet modern travel needs.

The polished aluminum shell remains intact, maintaining the Airstream’s iconic look, while functional updates—like a new awning, retro-inspired wheels, and upgraded lighting—add 21st-century practicality without sacrificing vintage charm.

Built for the Burning Man Experience

A key inspiration for Project MXB was the owners’ love for Burning Man, where self-sufficiency and resilience are essential. The Airstream is equipped with solar panels for sustainable, off-grid energy, advanced water filtration systems, and a state-of-theart ventilation system to keep the in-

terior cool in the extreme desert heat.

These upgrades transform the motorhome into a self-sustaining home capable of thriving in harsh environments, perfect for extended stays away from civilization.

Infusing Modern Comfort and Style

Inside Project MXB, the interior has been redesigned to offer a blend of modern comfort and practicality. Every inch of the space has been thoughtfully planned to create a functional, luxurious environment that caters to both adventure and relaxation.

Open Concept Living: The Airstream’s interior layout was reimagined to feel open and spacious. The living area features a modular sofa that expands into a clamshell configuration, offering flexibility for indoor-outdoor living. A custom walnut dinette sits across from this pop-out section, providing a stylish and functional space for dining or lounging.

Gourmet Kitchen on the Go: The rear kitchenette is equipped with a gas cooktop, slate Corian countertops, and a full-sized refrigerator, making meal prep easy while on the road. Custom cabinetry offers ample storage without compromising the sleek, minimalist design.

Artistic Flair and Festival-Inspired Design

Project MXB’s design incorporates festival-inspired artistic elements, with bold colors and accent lighting

enhancing the visual appeal. Custom-built furniture, woven textiles, and hidden alcoves add a bohemian flair, ensuring the space is both functional and creative.

Cozy Nooks for Relaxation: For moments of rest, the motorhome features cozy nooks designed for relaxation. The private bedroom includes a queen-sized bed with premium linens and blackout shades, perfect for a peaceful night’s sleep. Adjacent is a teak wet bath with a rainfall shower and skylights for stargazing while showering—adding a touch of luxury to this adventure-ready vehicle.

Adventure-Ready for Any Journey

While Project MXB was designed with Burning Man in mind, its versatility makes it ideal for any adventure—from cross-country road trips to camping in national parks. The motorhome’s blend of vintage charm and modern upgrades makes it more than just transportation—it’s a lifestyle.

In the end, Project MXB transforms a classic Airstream into an adventure-ready machine, perfect for festivals, road trips, or off-grid getaways. By blending nostalgia with innovation, this 1986 Airstream redefines what it means to travel in style, offering endless possibilities for exploration.
