FUNDRAISING
The Colonial PVA raises funds in a variety of ways to support our organization. One-way funds are raised is through grants. We receive a grant from our national organization to help cover our operating costs that totaled $158,968 for the fiscal year. We receive three grants from the state of Delaware, one is restricted to cover expenses for accessibility needs items for low-income individuals in the state of Delaware, one to cover administrative costs, and another one unrestricted for veteran services. These three grants totaled $96,000 for the fiscal year. We also received a $10,000 corporate grant from the Crestlea Foundation to help fund our annual Member and Caregiver event in Ocean City, Maryland
The Colonial PVA received $42,036 in donations this fiscal year to help cover the costs of our programs and another $6,508 in donations through National PVA’s CARS Donation program, which accepts donated vehicles all over the county and gives each PVA Chapter half the proceeds from donated cars in their service area Total donations for the year equaled $48,544.

Three small fundraisers were held throughout the year with the help of our volunteers to help cover the costs of programs, including the Chairs Care Charity Calendar Fundraiser, our Rolling through Maryland Campaign, and the 16th annual Keith Lewis Memorial Trap Shoot. The Chairs Care Charity Calendar Fundraiser is a new fundraiser that began at the end of this fiscal year where we sell calendars featuring our members. It is building partnerships with other veteran organizations and raising money for our programs. In addition, 25% of all calendar sales will go to the customer’s choice of one of eight nonprofits that we have preselected: the VFW, American Legion, Nancy’s House, Heroes on the Water, ALS Association, MS Society, and CRABS. No calendars were sold during this fiscal year but as of November 11, 2022, 200 calendars have been sold generating $8,000 in revenues, resulting in $6,500 raised for future Chapter events.
The Rolling through Maryland campaign ran throughout this fiscal year. Members visited several VFWs and American Legion’s throughout the state of Maryland and gave small presentations sharing their personal stories and what the PVA has done for them over the years. Every veteran organization we visited donated to the Chapter and this campaign raised over $21,000 in donations. In a world with increasing connectivity and unprecedented demand for Veteran services, it’s impossible for organizations to further their mission and priorities alone. Fortunately, the Colonial PVA is actively engaging with other Veterans organizations across the state of Maryland to address the needs of our Members and Mission, their families, and Caregivers.
The 16th Annual Keith Lewis Memorial Trap Shoot took place at the Carney Rod & Gun Club in Parkville, event started with a cookout on June 3, 2022, to thank all the Carney members and volunteers for their continued support over the last 17 years of hosting this event. The two-day y had 45 participants with 83 shoots.
