MEMBERSHIP

PVA is a free membership organization consisting of 15,405 honorably discharged military veterans that have suffered a spinal cord injury or disease. 245 of these veterans are members of the Colonial PVA and live mainly in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and the Philadelphia area. Two thirds of our members have a serviceconnected disability, with 108 having a spinal cord injury and 137 suffering from a disease affecting their spinal cords. 36% of our members suffer from Multiple Sclerosis making it the leading cause of spinal cord diseases affecting our members while vehicular accidents at 15% are the leading cause of spinal cord injuries for our members. The Colonial PVA membership has an older population as 140 of our members are over the age of 65, 94 members are between 45 and 64, and the remaining 11 are under 44.
