A family in which... both parents earn the average wage, with a child in childcare full-time, currently receiving no childcare subsidy will benefit from a subsidy of €1,040 childcare subsidy over the course of a year.
A working family with... a parental GP Visit Card is eligible to a full-time CCS childcare subsidy of €50 per week. While this amount will not change we anticipate a significant increase in the number of childcare providers taking part in the scheme, allowing many families to access this CCS subsidy for the first time.
Impact of Affordable Childcare These changes are the first step in increasing accessibility and affordability with regard to childcare and will benefit families and our society in many ways.
Jobs These measures to make childcare more affordable from September 2017 aim to contribute to supporting employment and labour market participation nationally.
Gender Equality It is hoped that both measures will have a positive impact on gender equality in labour market participation and with regard to employment opportunities.
Poverty Proofing A core aim of the measures to make childcare more affordable from September 2017 is to contribute to a reduction in child poverty. In both, there is a strong focus on disadvantaged and lower income families.
