The Imperative
The imperative is the form of the verb used to give commands or orders. It can be used politely, as in English ‘Shut the door, please’.
In positive commands, the imperative forms for Vd, Vds and nosotros are the same as the subjunctive. The other forms are as follows: tú (same as 3rd person singular present indicative) vosotros (final -r of infinitive changes to -d) î (tú) habla speak come eat vive live (Vd) hable speak coma eat viva live (nosotros) hablemos comamos vivamos let’s speak let’s eat let’s live (vosotros) hablad speak comed eat vivid live (Vds) hablen speak coman eat vivan live
In negative commands, all the imperative forms are exactly the same as the present subjunctive.
The imperative of irregular verbs is given in the verb tables, pages 82 to 160.
Position of object pronouns with the imperative: • in positive commands: they follow the verb and are attached to it.
An accent is needed to show the correct position for stress (see page 296) î • in negative commands: they precede the verb and are not attached to it î
For the order of object pronouns, see page 236.

backbencher /ˈbækˌbentʃe / N (Brit Parl) député m de base
Backbencher
Député de la Chambre des communes qui n'occupe aucune fonction officielle, ni au gouvernement, ni dans le cabinet fantôme. Il siège donc sur les bancs du fond de la Chambre, contrairement aux « frontbenchers », membres du gouvernement ou de l'opposition, qui sont assis aux premiers rangs. Par leur position, les backbenchers ne sont pas tenus de suivre aussi rigoureusement les consignes de vote de leur parti. L'expression back benches désigne l'ensemble des backbenchers, toutes appartenances confondues.
