Example Yveta had some money. She spent £1.25 on a drink. She spent £1.60 on a sandwich. She has three-quarters of her money left. How much money did Yveta have to start with? Show your method. Yveta spent £1.25 + £1.60 = £2.85 1

£2.85 is one-quarter ( 4 ) of her money because she has three-quarters ( 4 ) of her money left. So, to start with she had: 4 × £2.85 = £11.40
