Development Sites This is a mixed-use development proposal, with an entertainment heart completing Five Mile Way, and separately adding another office building and outlet stores to compliment the existing Five Mile Retail Centre. A new development is proposed for the southern side of the Five Mile Retail Centre. The vision is to create a dining street, which ties in the existing food & beverage offerings on the site, namely Joe’s Garage (B8) and the new Pub (B10) which is under construction. A new cinema will add to the entertainment offering and amenity of this street, as well as providing various outdoor seating areas and multi-functional spaces. Together this will create a strong critical mass of food, beverage and entertainment on the end of ‘Five Mile Way’ and will be the entertainment heart of the centre. As part of the mixed use proposal, a 5 level office building will finish the block and create a street edge on the Southern Access Way, capturing broad views of The Remarkables and other ranges to the south, as well as creating a separate street entrance and address on that street frontage. Transitioning to the more open nature of the centres periphery a new outlet offering is proposed on the southern site, with on-grade parking and coach drop-off. This group of buildings has been designed as a stand-alone centre distinct from the dining and entertainment precinct with a semi-industrial scale and materiality to mark themselves from the rest of the development. Resource consent for the proposed development has been lodged with Council. Full feasibility and costing will be completed on all sites and the intention is to have sufficient leasing committed to ensure the developments are bankable prior to any construction commencing.
