This year, guests can travel the way Europeans travel - via Europe's impeccable train system. Trains are currently a part of several itineraries, including one of my personal favourites, Alpine Lakes and Scenic Trains. For 2018, we looked at how and where we can use them more. The answer was clearly Switzerland. It was time to create a tour that left the traditional motorcoach behind and took to the rails in the beautiful country of Switzerland.

Last year we launched our UK by Rail tour and the feedback has been amazing. Travellers love the freedom of train travel and the extra time they have in the cities.

At times, guests indulge in family style meals and other times, in tasting menus, both will give guests a true taste of the region. They partake in cooking classes, wine tastings and cheese demonstrations among other immersive culinary experiences, all while enjoying unlimited wine at dinner throughout the tour. A Taste of Italy Forget what you think you know about Italian food, open your mind! You may be thinking you can’t wait to eat some “authentic” spaghetti and meatballs, Chicken Parmesan and garlic bread – but these are not authentic Italian dishes.

Unless you visit a very touristy restaurant (never on our tours!) you won’t find these on the menu. What you will find is a variety of farm-fresh ingredients, savoury sauces, flavourful cheeses, tasty cured meats, and the catch of the day – just to mention a few to get your imagination brewing and your mouth watering. Everybody Loves the Parks It is my goal to start attracting the more active traveller. I am adding an included choice on tour that allows them to explore the parks on foot. While still keeping the traditional sightseeing, I have added the following experiences:

• Spotlight on South Dakota – During your time in the Badlands, take a hike with a local guide, to not only see this amazing park, but hear, smell and touch it!
