Do you have a new faculty or staff member?
Make sure they are signed up to receive the biweekly COF Faculty and Staff newsletter. They can learn about the social events, professional development, and other opportunitiesand maybe even some discounted event tickets!
We hope you got the chance to participate in Longwood Collective’s Winter Stroll this past month. The inaugural event featured ice sculpture artists and had frozen statues across all of Longwood. The COF had three sculptures: a fox at Emmanuel, a shark at Simmons, and the Garner Museum had one of Isabella and her dog. We hope to join in again next year!
If its open across the COF, we would love to !

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
We are happy to congratulate our colleagues who have completed the COF’s Leadership Management Program (LMP) 101 this past month Faculty and staff participants represented all five COF institutions and Longwood Collective as well as ranging in departments and areas of expertise This month’s graduates are the first to complete LMP 101 of the now multi-level program.
30 faculty and staff graduates
Every year, the COF offers a Leadership Management Program (LMP) to recognize and cultivate excellence among staff and faculty. The sessions are customized and facilitated by highly regarded trainers. Based on feedback and the needs of our campuses, this year’s program is divided into two semester-long programs: LMP 101 for managers with 0-3 years of experience or those positioned to move into management in the near future and LMP 201 for more seasoned managers with 4-5+ years of experience, or those moving into a progressively higher responsibility position By splitting the program more staff and faculty get to participate in this professional development opportunity than in past years. It also allows leaders at all career levels to gain skills and insight in their own leadership path.

On Friday, February 2nd, the seventeen residential floors of MassArt’s Tree House residence hall had to be evacuated. The large building also houses several floors of MCPHS students.
With the leadership of COF’s Director of Emergency Management, Alex Koch, MassArt’s team worked quickly to respond . Residence Life and institutional leaders from across the Colleges of the Fenway came together to house students at neighboring residence halls and hotels throughout the week
We are incredibly grateful to the COF community for collaborating with each other and coordinating the needs of our students. Thank you!

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
COF DANCE CONFERENCE
What a whirlwind of energy and talent we experienced at the first-ever COF Dance Conference on February 24th and 25th, 2024! Students participated in workshops in ma different dance styles with amazing guest artists and faculty including Sarah Katarin (Skooj CorE-o), Janelle Gilchrist, Jeffery Bird Andy Taylor-Blenis, Sarah Putternam, Kate Pustizzi, and Massart’s visiting professor in Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM), Takahi Yamamoto,
In addition to the workshops, some studen also attended the Boston Ballet's "Winter Experience" performance Tickets to the ballet sold out within a week! 40 students attended and enjoyed watching professionals pursue their passions.
57 participants
Formulated and organized by the dance student executive board with mentoring from their instructors and directors, the conference was a fun challenge for the dedicated COF dance students Leila Ahmed, President and a member of Emmanuel’s class of 2025 described what she learned in the planning process, "a significant takeaway for me is the pivotal role of communication and determination in the planning process." It's true – pulling off an event like this took a whole lot of teamwork and dedication, and that’s what COF is all about!
In an effort to harness the passion of participants and provide more leadership development opportunities, COF dance, chorus, and orchestra each developed their own e-board during the 2022-2023 school year.
Check out the for more!
The COF dance program is open to all COF students, faculty, and staff There are no auditions, and all experience levels are welcome. This unique program is the largest COF performing arts program and has expanded in numbers and depth over the past 15 + years. Besides offering over a dozen dance courses each semester in tap, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, and jazz, the COF dance program offers a student choreography program with masterclasses and mentoring from professional artists and dance instructors.
IN THE WORKS
We all know that communication is vital to achieving our goals However, one thing that's been a bit tricky across the COF is sharing documents within committees especially when some campuses use Google, while others use Microsoft platforms.
We are on a mission to make things smoother! As part of our ongoing quest to make our workflows more efficient and to reduce the amount of emails you recieve, we've been exploring new ways to share documents After chatting with other consortia all around the country, we're diving into SharePoint Sites for each committee.
We are piloting this approach with the HR Committee to work out the kinks, and we look forward to communicating with you better and less by email in the future!
