The development of the Secondes’ magazine By Aya ali I had the pleasure to choose this subject to talk about the development of our magazine. I think it’s such a great thing that we’ve all decided, with our teacher, to do a magazine. The teacher has arranged it with us, we choose the articles, and he prints it. My opinion was good because it’s amazing to have enthusiasm to write about different articles and to express our feelings. This month, ‘’The secondes’ magazine’’ in April will be just better than last month. The main topics are about economy, relationships between Egypt and France... I’ll write about Horoscopes. Shaimaa will write about the relationships between Egypt and France as our school and our system are French. Hana will talk about the sports meeting which took place on 10th April. Haidy will write about Fashion, which I wrote about last month, ‘good luck for her’. Habiba will tell us her opinion about a movie. Mostafa will write about cats and dogs in Egypt. Karim will introduce us to football. Ayman will talk about the biography of our President ‘Mubarak’. And finally Dina will explain us the difference between the ‘baccalaureat’ and the other certificates and will write about our daily school life. I wish them all the best of luck and I hope it will develop more and more in the future.

Leo’s horoscope By Aya Ali I believe that many people are crazy about reading their horoscopes every day. They believe in it and get used to reading it daily. Honestly, I admit that I read my horoscope but I don’t trust it or get crazy when it says something bad. I just read it, for fun maybe. This month I will talk about Leo’s horoscopes. It’s from 23thJuly to 23rd August. Leo’s all power, like lions. They are willful, determined, and severe. They are good people as well as all the other horoscopes but they get mad easily and hate to be teased. They are stubborn, generous and they love challenges. They like helping people. Sometimes, they don’t tell anyone their news until they get crazily mad. I’ve read in the internet that most of Leo people look a little like lions. Often they have huge lovely manes of thick curly hair. I’d like to say that my horoscope is Leo too  and I have a curly hair but I think it’s not necessary at all. Actually, I don’t like it that much but I deal with it because horoscopes aren’t everything. I can say that I am out of the subject because my article is about ‘’A funny horoscope’’ and this isn’t funny but I believe that horoscopes aren’t funny, so I didn’t know what to write. I hope that it’s good enough to be liked by the magazine’s readers. 4

President Mubarak By Ayman Rimah

Muhammad Hosni Sayyid Mubarak

President Mubarak the forth president of Egypt, came to light as Mohamed Naguib, Jamal Abed El Nasr and El Sadat. He has been the President of Egypt for 30 years now. He was born on 4 may 1928 Kafr-EL-Meselha, Monufia Governorate, Egypt. He joined the Egyptian Military Academy, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Military Sciences in 1949. On 2 February 1949, Mubarak left the Military Academy and joined the Air Force Academy, gaining his commission as a pilot officer on 13 March

5

1950 and eventually receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Sciences. Following the assassination of President Sadat by militants in 1981, Hosni Mubarak became the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP). He is also the longest serving President of the Egyptian Republic with 30 years. Hosni Mubarak is married to Suzanne Mubarak, and has two sons: Alaa and Jamal. Egypt in the time of Mubarak has had many problems, but he has done so many good things to solve them. There are too much uneducated people and poor people; more than 50% of the Egyptian population is poor. The education is not so good because it's not only books filled with knowledge but also qualified teachers to teach these books that are in demand. He has been the President of Egypt for 30 years and he has done many good things; he has managed to keep Egypt out of any military conflict for those 30 years. It is hard when you are a President of a country situated in one of the hottest military zones, the Middle East, on which the security of all the Arabian nations depends. He also helped in the air force attack in the war in 1973, when Egypt defeated Israel and took Sinai back. In the end we must all agree that President Mubarak made big modifications in Egypt and many good things.

The French baccalaureat By Dina Hesham The French baccalaureat is a very important certificate in Egypt because it has the highest score that means 50% of a Bac score 6

amounts to 80% in the Egyptian system and many other categories.... For the IG (the British certificate), students have to work very hard and they have a hard system and finally they get a certificate which has a lesser value than the French Bac. The "Sanaweya Ama", the Egyptian system is extremely hard because you must and need to study a lot to memorize without understanding. That's a very difficult system; and the certificate of the "Sanaweya Ama" is less and less important, and less valued than the French Bac. The Bac gives me the opportunity to work in France, Egypt and other countries. The Bac and the "Abitur" (German certificate) are number 1 in Egypt. I've chosen the Bac because it's an easy system and a high-score certificate; and it gives a lot of information and opportunity to be able to speak 3 languages after school. This is my article about the life in my school.

Life in Nefertari School By Dina Hesham Last time I wrote about "READING"; this time I will write about life in Nefertari School, what the students' routine is before and after school and what the students' favorite food at school is. ‌This will be my inquiry into my school friends’ habits According to my questionnaire to my friends, the results were that majority of my friends eat French fries at school and they were like 50% who eat nuggets; most of them, 22%, eat other things; .12% eat chocolate and 5% eat burger

7

About the routine before school, I found that almost nobody takes breakfast before school and when they can, they take it at 9:05 during the break. I've found also that less than 10% take their breakfast before school. At school, we can eat at 9:05 AM and at .11:10 AM And about the routine after school, something that all of us do, that is‌SLEEPING. Some of my comrades eat then sleep no sooner they are at home, some others sleep then do anything else, and a little of them don’t sleep and they do their homework then they watch TV; and there are those who want to go out, who want .to study ,who want to do anything else

A movie review By Habiba Omar A few days ago, I went to see "Alice in Wonderland" the 3D movie. There are good actors in it like Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, the actress who did Bellatrix Lastrange in "Harry Potter" and others... Alice in Wonderland is a movie with human and cartoon characters. It is based on the book and the animation cartoon but of course with a lot of differences. It's about a girl who has always dreamt the same dream ever since she was 6 or 7 years old till she was 19. There are talking animals (rabbits, flamingos, mice...), a wise blue caterpillar and more imaginary things. One day in a brunch party, as the man who loves her proposes her; she sees the same rabbit of her dreams so she leaves all the people and follows him. The rabbit has a clock; he keeps looking at both, Alice and the clock, as if he were late. He falls in a hole and so does she, she then finds herself trapped in a room full of locked doors except a tiny one with its tiny key. She finds a potion, drinks it and shrinks 8

so she can get through. She opens the door and finds herself in the same place as the one in her dreams, Wonderland. She finds the same people, the same places and thinks that she’s dreaming, but the people are somehow different. They keep wondering whether she's the chosen Alice who will defeat the evil "red queen", release them from her cruelty, get past her pet the "bindersnatch", kill her monster the " jaberwaki" and give back the crown and throne to its rightful queen, the "white queen" on the glory day or not (the white queen is the red queen's younger sister, the rightful heir and the one who has promised never to hurt a living creature). Alice is encouraged by the hatter and her friends whom she knew before (because she's against the idea of leading a war against the evil queen). She leads the white army into battle, encounters the "jaberwaki" on this day and slays it, gives back the crown and throne to the "white queen" who then banishes her sister the “red queen” with the humans. She returns home after the battle and promises her friends to see them again. At first, I thought it was fun but I found out that it wasn’t that funny, even though it is a good movie. Not only the 3D was great, but also the make up, costumes and animations too. So I recommend it to those who haven’t seen it yet. Enjoy your time 

Fashion By Haidy El Gendy Fashion is a word to describe lots of type of clothes. Every year or season, there is a new fashion, a new design.

9

Rich people usually follow the new fashion because they go on TV and to important events but when you come down to normal people fashions is not a big issue, because ordinary people are looking for something comfortable to wear but you can know who they are from their clothes, for instance, when you see a girl wearing all black, people see the code of a emo girl etc… People usually think that girls are interested in shopping and fashion but nowadays boys are more interested in fashion .These days fashion is everything, teenagers from the whole world love fashion.

Sports meeting By Hana El Shaabini In April, there will be a sports meeting between all French schools on 10th April and it will be in Misr School. Every French school will attend it. Gutter Culture By Mostafa El saiid Animals represent an essential part of the ecological system in different ways, some of them are edible and they are mostly mammals and some are amphibian for example Frogs. The most popular categories of them all are Cats and Dogs; they are used as pets at home. Actually, they are easily trained, that's why they are domestic and are easily adopted by people. They are also useful, especially Dogs, as blind men need them to lead their way. In Egypt, Cats and Dogs are walking in the streets with no control and they are so dirty. People are afraid to pass by them. In fact, it is something people have to deal with in one way or another. In the end, we have to find a solution to catch all stray animals (-: .in the streets

Alexandria By Romario Last summer I decided to go to Alexandria with my friend. Each one of us prepared his bag and a lot of things. We moved from Cairo at 1 am. We arrived at 3 am and I had the key of my apartment. We started to clean and we slept at 12 pm.

15

We decided to go out. We went to the beach; we played football and we enjoyed swimming; after that, we returned to our apartment and each one took a shower and we went out. We went to eat in kfc; after that, we went to the Cornish; we ate ice-cream homos el sham and the day after, we went to Alexandria library; we read a lot of books. It was very interesting. After that, we stayed in a coffee shop whose name is Dawar Goha. On the third day, we went to the Citadel of Kayet bay. It is a very big citadel with a very beautiful place and we stayed on salty bridge. On the forth day we prepared our things and we started to move out of Alexandria at night after we passed such beautiful days.

Egyptian French relation By Shaimaa Tarek As I am an Egyptian student in a French school, it’s really important for me and our magazine’s readers to know one of Egypt’s international relations, which is the one with France and to let both sides discover their culture. Relations between Egypt and France date back to 1789, back to Napoleon Bonaparte’s Expedition, which had a strong impact on Egypt. As time went on, ties of friendship developed and progressed between the two countries. Egyptian missions were sent to France to specialize in modern sciences and fine arts. And as a prove of that, President Hosni Mubarak visited France for about 41 times, and his relations with the ex-Presidents Francois Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac have been most friendly.

16

Both countries share a lot of cooperation, particularly in all economic areas. At first, France helped Egypt in special projects for the agriculture sector, addressed to directly and indirectly to increase the national food resources, and its security. Secondly, France share in Egypt’s imports is around 5%, which makes France one of the top five investors in Egypt. Minister of Trade and Industry Rashid Mohamed Rashid said the volume of trade between the two countries jumped to 3 billion the past year, compared to 2 billion in 2004.
