My Passion For Scholarship
My passion for intercultural study started when I was fifteen years old. I had just began to learn French for my high school language requirement, and our teacher told us about an exchange trip we could apply to participate in, where we would be matched up with a student from France who was roughly the same age as us and we would spend four weeks living together (two weeks in our home and two weeks in theirs). I chose to apply, with no clue what a huge impression such an experience would have on my life. I was accepted into the program, and was matched with a girl named Aline, who was exactly two days older than me and lived in Strasbourg, the largest city in Alsace. We exchanged emails for a few months, and in February of 2012 she and her...show more content... Just having Aline stay with myfamily for that short time taught me so much more about human nature and the importance and difficulties of cross–cultural communication than I had ever learned in school. In June, I flew with eleven other kids from my high school to Alsace, and got to live with Aline's family in Strasbourg for two weeks. The impact that the trip had on me is indescribable. Through the immersion in both French and Alsatian culture, I began to grasp for the first time both how small and how very large the world is. I had never spent so much time thinking about the way life was for other people, and found that once I began thinking about it I couldn't stop; I learned so much about intercultural communication and exchange over those couple weeks, and I developed a thirst for travel that I had never had before. I came back from the trip with a new perspective on life, and began thinking a lot more often about the interplay between cultures, both in America and abroad. It was on the flight home that I decided I wouldn't mind spending my entire life learning about the rest of the

I come from a small town and a family who hasn't always had luxurious things but has never went without the things we must have. For that I will forever be grateful. Watching my father and mother struggle to provide for my sisters and I strongly motivated me to want to earn a higher education. I hope to have a career that I both enjoy and that allows me to provide many things for myself and future family. I know that because of my family's financial stability this will not because easy. I have many goals in life, one of those being to become a dentist. I do not want to be just any dentist, I want to be a dentist for low income families so that more people are able to afford the proper dental care. To do so I have a long rigorous road ahead of me but I am not frightened by this. I have always strived to attended school and my desire to do so will only become stronger as I get older. I love learning because while one might not always have a lot in life, if you have knowledge, there are no limits. I have always believed that knowledge is power and not only will getting a higher...show more content...
When students think about going to college of course the first thing they think of is the cost. However, I am not going to just any college, I am going to a private all women's college, not because I want to but because I need to. Meredith College is the best fit for me for so many reasons. One of those reasons being that they offer a pre–dental program that other public universities do not. Paying for a private college is already going to be hard for my family and I not to mention paying for dental school after I graduate undergrad school. I have applied to many scholarships and already received quite a few but I am still far from reaching my goal of being able to comfortably pay for my college

Ever since I was a young kid I have always been interested in movies. My grandma, who was full of the wise the life experience left, always knew about my interest in movies. She feed my vain for the art. Even though her religion, she professed Adventist of seven–day religion, didn't let her go to the cinema, she always found the way to took me to the cinema. She and I enjoyed watch movies. We used to sit in the darkness room, with our faces illuminated from the reflection of the light which rebooted from the screen, both absorbs in the plot of the movie which made us laughed or cried. After the movie, while we went back to her home, she started to talk about the movie. She had a particular point of view where the main story...show more content... I never stop thinking about being a film director. All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work. When the opportunity showed up I took it. I came to New York City to study film. But I have to start from the beginning. The first year I prepared to get my GED. In October 2001 I took the examination and I passed it. Now, the second step, how can I do to pay a college or a university? I started to work and I took editing courses in the School of Visual Art and NYU. I bought a digital camera and I learned how to used it. I started to work making digital videos for parties and events. I earned enough money to start my career. The CUNY advisor sent me to HOSTOS Community College because he told me that it would be easier for me to study there. Even though the major that I was interested in, wasn't in HOSTOS curriculum, I accepted but with the idea in my mind to changed to the college where film major was imparted. After three semesters in HOSTOS I transferred to Brooklyn College and I enrolled in the film program. I will be a
