Farewell and Thank you to the Canterbury Bankstown Torch
As the final chapter of the Canterbury Bankstown Torch comes to a close after an extraordinary 104 years, I reflect on the immense impact this newspaper has had on our community and beyond. While marked with sadness, this milestone is an occasion to celebrate the remarkable legacy that you and those before you have built.
I would like to pay special tribute to the visionary founders of the Engisch Family who, over a century ago, recognised the need for a publication that would inform, connect, and empower our community. Their dedication to providing accurate and timely news laid the foundation for a newspaper that would become a trusted voice for generations.
CE O M e s s a
To the editor Mark Kirkland, through your leadership, the torch has consistently delivered not just the news, but thoughtful commentary, diverse perspectives, and in-depth analysis that have enriched our understanding of the world around us. And to the reporters, photographers, designers, and all staff members, past and present, who have contributed to the daily operation of this beloved institution you are the heartbeat of The Torch. To you all we say Thank you!
While it is difficult to say goodbye, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the role the Torch has played in the life of our community. You have informed us, inspired us, and brought us together in ways that few institutions can.
Thank you for 104 years of service, dedication, and excellence. The legacy of the Canterbury Bankstown Torch will undoubtedly endure in the memories and hearts of all who had the privilege to read it. With gratitude and best wishes!

How To Always Look The Part
If you’ve only got one chance to make your first impression great, then knowing the concept of ‘dressing for success’ becomes a top priority.
For people looking to re-enter the workforce or wanting to join new opportunities, dressing for success can be a powerful step in empowering them on their journey.
For women entering new spaces, this concept is particularly relevant, from a job interview to a networking event or a business meeting.
The right outfit can feel like armour, giving you a sense of preparedness and aligning your outward appearance with your inner capabilities and aspirations.
