“Hot Diggity Dog’ promises all your classic Gamble ranting, raving and spluttering for a show where, in his own words: “I’ve minced a load of meat (thoughts), piped it into a casing (show) and it’s coming to a bun (venue) near you.”
Ed’s stellar rise through the comedy ranks has seen him appear in over 30 episodes of the hit show Mock the Week and appear on Live at the Apollo (BBC Two). The 37-year-old is also a judge on BBC Two’s Great British Menu and co-hosts his Sunday morning show on Radio X with Matthew Crosby.
After being crowned series nine champion of the award-winning television show Taskmaster (Dave/Channel 4), Ed became the host of the Taskmaster Podcast. His other television credits include 8 out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), The Apprentice: You’re Fired (BBC Two) and Richard Osman’s House of Games (BBC Two).
With co-host James Acaster, Ed will be taking his multi award winning Off Menu podcast to the live stage later in the year. No wonder the British Comedy Guide declared: “If he keeps up this momentum, he’ll be playing arenas in a few years.”

England hat trick hero of the 1966 World Cup win, Sir Geoff Hurst, is coming to Charter Hall for his final farewell tour.
Come and meet Sir Geoff Hurst, the footballing legend who will be ‘Live Onstage’ as part of his UK tour to entertain football fans all over the country. Geoff will relay anecdotes from his illustrious West Ham and England career and audiences will have the opportunity to ask him questions.
We took the opportunity to ask a few questions of our own:
What did it feel like to win the World Cup in 1966?
It’s hard to put the feeling into words especially in my case because I only made my debut in 1966 so it was all potentially overwhelming. I was young though and it all came so suddenly but I enjoyed it all.
Which is your favourite goal in the final?
Everywhere I go I’m asked about the hat trick, it all passed in a blur at the time. I guess my second is best remembered for the accompanying controversy, but I view them all as equal.
Who was the best footballer you played with in your England career? There were many, Bobby Charlton was immense. In the World Cup final Alan Ball was magnificent, he ran his heart out and he cared so much. Jimmy Greaves was the best goal scorer in English history and a mate as well but overall ‘Mooro’, Bobby Moore, would be the calming influence and overall leader and quality player that I would choose as the number one.
Where are your happiest memories from your playing days?
My favourite grounds were the old Wembley and Upton Park. Great atmospheres at both and many happy memories for me.
Are you looking forward to coming to Colchester?
Yes, the shows are great fun and really well received. Wherever I go it’s always interesting to have a laugh with the people that have supported football for all these years. Little did I know that on the 31 July 1966, when I was lucky enough to score my World Cup final hat trick, people would still be asking about it more than fifty years later!

From perky tits, to killing nits, join award-winning comedian Sophie McCartney as she ventures into the perilous world of parenthood in her rollicking new stand-up show at Charter Hall.
Best known for her wickedly accurate insights into adulting, Sophie thought by the time she became a ‘proper’ grown up (someone who likes olives) life would all be figured out. How very wrong she was.
Feeling like an out-of-depth-teen trapped in the slightly sagging skin suit of a 30-something mum-of-three, why did no one tell her what to really expect after she was expecting? Will her belly button ever go back to ‘normal’? Why do you need a degree in collapsing travel cots? And does she have what it takes to stop her current cereal eaters from becoming future serial killers?
Hold onto your ‘Apple Bottom jeans and boots with the fur’ as you follow Sophie on her evolution from non-maternal ‘noughties’ wild child to the highs and lows of being with child.
A comedy writer and performer from Liverpool, Sophie’s debut book ‘Tired and Tested: The Wild Ride into Parenthood’ went straight in at No.1 on the Sunday Times’ bestseller list. With cult status amongst knackered parents, she’s dubbed as Instagram’s funniest mum by Mother & Baby, won a prestigious ‘Funny Women’ award, has racked up more than 250 million views on her social media channels, and is about to launch her debut fiction comedy novel ‘Mother Hens’.
What others say:
“What a toe tapping, hand clapping, jive inducing evening of great music! Well done The George Harrison Project!”
“If you are a George Harrison fan you will love this show. If you are not sure if you are a fan, you will be after seeing these guys!”
“What a fantastic evening with an amazing group of really talented musicians. Any night when I can laugh, sing and cry is a good night out!”
Here comes the perfect tribute to a Beatles legend!
Amusical icon who was part of arguably the biggest band of all time will be honoured and remembered at this special show at Charter Hall on 2 February 2024.
A group of talented musicians will entertain with the songs written and performed by George Harrison who found fame with The Beatles. Alongside John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Harrison helped the band become the best-selling music act of all time.
After the Liverpudlian four-piece called time on Beatlemania, Harrison enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing
twelve studio albums including Living In The Material World, Cloud Nine, Brainwashed, and the classic triple album All Things Must Pass.
Harrison also formed the Traveling Wilburys, a supergroup featuring Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
Hear all his best-known tracks including My Sweet Lord, Here Comes The Sun, Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Got My Mind Set On You, Taxman, Give Me Love, What Is Life, If I Needed Someone, Cheer Down, and many more!
‘Is your brain hurting yet? Because mine certainly was, but in a beautifully, mindexpanding sort of way …We came away with a new found of love of the basics of science and maths, and a thirst to learn more’ Express and Star
‘Science and cosmology doesn’t get any more dazzling and interesting than this – a wonderful journey through space and time orchestrated by Professor Brian Cox.’
‘A jaw-dropping reminder that human life is both irrelevant and hugely precious.’ ****
The GuardianWhat is the nature of space and time? How did life begin, how rare might it be and what is the significance of life in the cosmos? What does it mean to live a small, finite life in a vast, eternal universe?
Having travelled the world with his sellout arena tour, Horizons, Professor Brian Cox is coming to Colchester to tell the story of how we came to be and what we can become.
Horizons has taken over 250,000 people across three continents on a
dazzling journey; using state of the art screen technology, venues across the world from New Zealand to the arctic circle have been filled with images of far-away galaxies, alien worlds, supermassive black holes and the latest theories of the origin of the universe.
Horizons is a celebration of our civilisation, of our music, art, philosophy and science; an optimistic vision of our future if we continue to explore nature with humility and to value ourselves and our fellow human beings.
