Spirit Battles Spirit at the Homecoming Parade: October 11, 2013 Charter Oak Key Club’s participation in the 2013 homecoming game parade was phenomenal. Many member showed up along with our Lieutenant-Governor, Andy Wong, who got cheers going throughout the night. Despite Mr. Wong’s fantastic leadership skills, it was the members that really made this possible. While it is still undecided who won the Spirit Battle, it was clear to teachers, staff, and the crowd that Key Club had a lot of spirit.

The Rowland Heights’ Buckboard Days Parade Behind the scenes action: October 19, 2013 On the nineteenth of October, Charter Oak Key Club participated with Division 35 East in the Rowland Heights’ Buckboard Days Parade. While members were not the stars of the parade, their valiant service helped start and keep the parade going. Members assisted floats and cars in lining up in the correct place and moving them along the parade route as the parade progressed. As the parade cruised down along Nogales street, volunteers collected cones provided by the Department of Water and Power. At this event members got the chance to experience what it is like to work behind the scenes of an event and not necessarily get all the credit. This is truly what Key Club motivates its members to realize through their hours of service. In accomplishing this, members truly hold up the Key Club motto: “Caring is our way of life.”

Fall Rally South When: Saturday, November 9, 2013 Where: Six Flags Magic Mountain What: Every year thousands of Key Clubbers from Northern and Central California flock to Six Flags magic Mountain to celebrate the efforts that have been put into raising money and awareness for Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP). It is a day full of rides, laughter, fun, and, most importantly, Key Club Spirit.

Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) Unintentional injury is the number one killer of children 14 and under. 90% of these unintentional injuries can be prevented, however. Since 1994, the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation has joined forces with its Sponsored Leadership Programs to help raise money for PTP. Since then, the Cal-Nev-Ha District has become a leading contributor to the program by fundraising thousands of dollars each year that go to training pediatric doctors and purchasing muchneeded medical equipment. By attending Fall Rally, you will be contributing to even further our fundraising goals and you will help to provide children with the opportunity to survive from unintentional injuries.
