Raising the Gold Standard: Charter Oak Key Club was recognized by the Lieutenant Governor of Division 35 East, Andy Wong, for our commitment to service. We were placed in the CNH newsletter for all 45,000+ members to see. Our leadership team would like to encourage our members to continue raising the Gold Standard throughout the year.

President's Message:

As president of Charter Oak Key Club, my goal is to offer all I can to the cause of service and caring. I strive to promote the core values of Key Club International—leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness—to each and every single member enrolled in Charter Oak Key Club and throughout the entire community. My ambition is to provide all members with initiative and leadership developing opportunities and to provide an experience in which members are able to harmoniously work together to better their schools and communities. Through service and caring, I know that every single member can shape and change his/her own life for the better. Remember, service and caring are not a one way paths. Both parties, the giving the receiving, are positively benefited. Those who serve benefit just as much as those being served. With that in mind, I encourage all members to be active this year and endeavor to make a difference in their community and for themselves. I look forward to a great year. Thank you for your service! - Shadi Aranki

September DCM @ Shadow Oak Park September 14, 2013

In case you missed the September DCM we had a blast! All ten Key Clubs from Division 35 East shared what they did throughout the summer and what they plan to do throughout the months of September and October. Charter Oak Key Club even got awarded Club of the Month by our lieutenant governor Andy Wong! Before taking care of business we played ice breakers that were very entertaining. You can check out all of the pictures on the Division 35 East Facebook page! The real fun came when the PTP pie fundraiser started. Your very own president, Shadi Aranki, got pied in the face several times. Along with Vice President Megan Buckley and a few members,Charter Oak Key Club was successful in helping out PTP (you can find out more about PTP by visiting www.cnhfoundation.org/supports/PTP.html). We hope to see more of you join us at future DCMs. It's a great way to not only stay informed with what your key club is doing, but it is also a great way to keep up and make friends with other people in our Division. Our next DCM will be October 26, 2013 at Creek Side Park in Walnut from 10am to 3pm. Hope to see you there to show your Charter Oak and Key Club pride!!!

Statements:

Megan Buckley Vice President Thomas Edison once said, "If we did all the things that we were capable of, we literally would astound ourselves." This year, as Charter Oak Key Club continues to grow, my hope is that we will amaze ourselves by the amount and quality of self-sacrificing service we perform. My challenge to all the members is to become involved and to participate in as many service opportunities as possible. I guarantee that commitment and dedication to service will change your life. Your character will be strengthened and your life will be enriched. Our service throughout our home, school, and community is going to have a profound impact on others. Let's prepare to be astounded by our efforts!

Robert Parsons Secretary As Key Club Secretary, it is my job to ensure the well-being and organization of our club and all of its members. With this in mind, I am really looking forward to working with all of our members to make sure they have a fun and exciting time in Key Club and to make sure Charter Oak Key Club stands out and looks good in the eyes of our superiors. These are just a few reasons why I decided to run for secretary and I am very excited to see what the future has in store for Charter Oak Key Club!
