Bishop Bernard is the only son of four children born to the late Deacon Joseph T. Morris and Pastor Emeritus Gloria C. Morris. He was saved at the age 13 years and was baptised and became a member of the Church nearly 47 years ago. He has been active in the ministry since he was a young man and became a licensed minister in 1997.
Bishop Bernard and his wife, Maureen, have been involved in pastoral ministry for over 28 years, serving as pastor of Inns Court Christian Fellowship, Knowle West (South Bristol) and co-pastoring the Church in Bath. He also served, for a season, as pastor of Newport (South Wales). Prior to this, he served as a Regional Youth and National Youth Secretary and Youth Camp Co-ordinator.
Bishop Bernard has served the Church in local, regional and national capacities for many years. Currently, as well as Co-Regional Overseer for the South West region, he is a member of the Church’s Corporate Board of Trustees, Co-Chair of the Corporate Finance and Audit Committee and Honorary Treasurer of the Church of God of Prophecy Trust (U.K.).
Professionally, Bishop Bernard is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA); he has recently retired after 36 years in the National Health Service. He is Treasurer of Filwood Hope Advice Centre, a church-based charity serving Knowle West and South Bristol and is Chair of Trustees of the Inns Court Community and Family Centre. He holds a MSc in Financial Management from the University of the West of England and is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT). He also holds a Foundation Certificate in Christian Studies from Trinity College Bristol.
